21 year-old female from Cleveland, Wisconsin I'm really 18 Some of my favorite quotes: "It's Sparky-Sparky-Boom Man!!!" -Aang, Avatar: The Last Airbender "You may call me whatever you wish, but I'm taking your cake" -L, Death Note "Does my being half naked bother you?" -Jacob, Eclipse "I just want my phone call" -The Joker, Dark Knight "College is fun, as long as you don't die." -L, Death Note
Professor Layton So in the time that I've been kind of on and off roosterteeth, I have found a new favorite video game.
It is Professor Layton. Professor Layton is a Nintendo DS game, and all it is is puzzles. You are given a mystery and you go through the world of the game solving puzzles in order to solve the mystery. If you've played the game you know how great it is. I've been told that the gameplay is similar to Phoenix Wright, though I have yet to play this.
There are 3 of the games so far, Curious Village, Diabolical Box, and Unwound Future. Unwound Future was just released in September, and I just finished it last week (college limits your video game time significantly). It is so effing awesome I just don't know what to do with myself!!! Professor Layton and the Unwound Future is possibly if not definitely the greatest DS game I have ever played. The first two were excessively good, but the third one starts to give you some background on the characters of Luke Triton and Hershel Layton. Which, by the way, is awesome. I <3 it. But the ending was what got me. I will not give anything away to those who want to play it, because trying to solve the mystery before it's revealed to you is one of the best things about it (which I was almost able to do entirely with this game! I'm getting really good at it :D), but it is so much more complex than the other two. There are so many backstories and sidestories and plot twists and then the ending.........
*IMPLODES*
THE ENDING IS SO FLIPPIN SAD I ALMOST CRIED AND THEN IT WAS SHOCKING AS FUCK AND THEN IT ENDED AND THE CREDITS ROLLED AND THEN THERE WAS A TEASER TO THE NEXT GAME AND THEN GUESS WHAT?
ANOTHER FUCKING PUZZLE
*FACEPALM*
(if you know the game, you understand my reaction to the last puzzle)
But I may have a new favorite character in Professor Layton. While Hershel is soooooooo wonderful, you meet Luke's future self in Unwound Future. He is soooo fantastic. Particularly his voice. Listen to it NOW. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHL6gy5TTFk&u=PtFZ-ogzSsU&list=FL&feature=BF *fangasms*
He's such a dashing gentleman, you can tell that he has certainly learned a lot from Hershel Layton, but at the end he gets even better because his character changes completely and he goes all Light Yagami on you and its quite awesome. There's really no better way to describe it than Light Yagami XD
But in any case, I realized something. I like a lot of things, but I'm not an expert on anything. I haven't played Ocarina of Time, I don't remember half of Death Note, and my favorite anime, Fullmetal Alchemist, I am WAY behind on. BOTH series. AND the manga. I do know nearly everything about Harry Potter and Avatar: The Last Airbender, but I think that my thing will be Professor Layton. I've played all the games in America so far, and I've solved nearly all the puzzles (approx 500 total), and I've gotten to the point where I can solve the mysteries on my own, so I'm just about up to speed with Hershel, who's always a few steps ahead of what they tell you. I'd say it's fair to call Layton my area of expertise.
What I'm getting at is that I'm thinking about doing something fun. My friend is an alchemy otaku and is in LOVE with Edward Elric, so she has a Facebook profile in which she role plays as Edward. I'm thinking about doing that for Layton, but I've never really done role play before. I feel I may be able to do it with Layton, since I know the character and the game so well, but I don't know. Do you know of a way I could practice role playing, because I think it may be fun, and Hershel probably isn't a terribly popular one.
By the way, WHO'S EXCITED FOR LEGEND OF ZELDA SKYWARD SWORD?!?!?!?! :D
