Oh man...I'm already Driver Level 50 on Forza Motorsport 3.

Fucking ridiculous if you ask me :/ Too quick for my liking, even if I did do an enduro at my favourite circuit of all time.

I went 28 laps in my tuned-up Lexus IS-F before I had to pull in for pits in the Suzuka 169km event XD God I love the fuel economy in this game, so much more realistic. And the tires didn't wear out much either which is awesome :3 Anyways, now that I've gotten one good part of the achievements done, I shall write a quick and half-arsed review.

Forza Motorsport 3 is a vast improvement over the previous instalment, even with the more stable content. Sure, there are still a fair amount of flaws with car modelling *cough*McLaren F1*cough* but for the most part, the cars look good. The tracks look spectacular, especially the revamped and restored Fujimi Kaido (god that waterfall is beautiful). The 'Ring looks better with more trees, but I'm sorely disappointed with the omission of one particular underrated track that is basically a deity in the books of Australian motorsport. But, there's always DLC for Bathurst, so hopefully we'll see it some time next year.

Speaking of Australia, the V8 Supercars is a welcome addition to the flock of over 400 cars in the game, and they're hella fun to drive :D They sound great, they handle well, and in general make for very fun rides. The ability to paint race cars is a bonus, and I'm sure eager people will be recreating liveries from past cars that can be legally classified as eye-candy. The large assortment of race cars makes for a definite thumbs-up, and I'm real impressed with the noticeable difference between the different fields of regulations (i.e. GT3, GT2, GT1, GT500, DTM, LMP, etc.). The variety of tracks thus far is also awesome, and I'm finding fun in the current swathe of these configurations, especially when I go to catch air in a rally car! Of course, I haven't had the chance to check out the two extra sets of tracks that are available for free download, but I'm sure that'll change soon enough.

Onto the career mode, and I've found the season play to be quite some fun, albeit lengthy at times, where you get bored having to do an event involving putt-putt cars then all of a sudden being dumped into a monster of a car doing a much longer race. Still, it's all worth the fun as the events in between the championship rounds do get better. One of the big disappointments for me is how quickly I was able to reach driver level 50. I found that it took a bit too quick for me to get up there, however I'm not complaining a great deal about the reward cars, because a few of them are pretty decent to drive with. Obviously the ability to go off on a tangent and do your own thing in the Event List is a plus, especially if you're looking for the enduros, since I'm yet to see one pop up in Season Play.

One of the biggest things to come to FM3 is the cockpit view, and I absolutely love being able to read off the gauges when I'm driving a car, so I don't have the HUD speedo being obnoxious in the lower right. Of course, the in-car view does fall flat on its ass at times with positioning, but at least you can look around inside it to check your mirrors (of course, the field of view can be fixed when dealing with in-car views... just need to fiddle with the multi-screen settings ;D). Some cars do seem a little disappointing with the display of gauges, or lack thereof. I'm not sure if the developers didn't get all the info down right, or what the story is (I'm sure the Holden V8 Supercar drivers do have a display to look at when they're driving the car).

A pretty big negative is the seemingly child-like achievements that have been put up on offer. I know, achievements for a racking game are hard to come up with, but bloody hell, most of these achievements are childs play.

Overall, I'm really happy with the way that Forza 3 has come out. I'm sure the next instalment (if there is one) will be better than ever, and hopefully there's some content that'll really hit home for me. The next thing for me is to get a bloody racing wheel for this thing, so I can really experience the thrill of racing :D
