What's your favorite ensemble? (Group of friends, group on a quest, etc. Books, TV, movies, games--pretty much anything is fair game.)
Mine, of course, has to be the Scooby Gang from Buffy. Because... well, of course.

So I desperately need another cup of coffee to pep me up.
1. I'm getting really frustrated with the whole trying to get published thing. I've been sending books to agents since I was 15. I've had one poetry book published, which I'm very proud of, and some lit mag publications. But I haven't gotten a novel published yet, and my lit mag submissions could be going better these days. It's immensely frustrating to me. Sometimes I truly contemplate just publishing a book through Amazon or something and seeing how that goes. But I dunno. It may just be the frustration talking. But I literally have whole novels that I still, years later, think are good and fun but they never got picked up. I usually write at least one novel per year, and feeling like I'm finally getting somewhere with publication only to end with rejection letters makes me feel totally awful.
2. I wish that this site worked the way it used to. I miss coming on here several times a day, having comments on my journals, commenting on journals of others, even sneaking over to the forums every so often. I miss my friends. I follow people on Twitter and Instagram, of course, and I pop on here every so often. But I miss what it was. I'm working on the first draft of a novel right now that is about a girl who goes to a con in Austin (not RTX--it's a made-up con) and meets her internet friends (and realizes she's got a crush on one of them). I guess writing about it makes me think about when I joined the site five (good god--five?!) years ago and those couple of years afterwards and how formative all of that--and being friends with you guys--was to me as a person.
I dunno. Not even sure if anyone is going to read this, but I didn't feel that throwing all of that up on Twitter or my writing blog, so here we are, I guess?

Started the morning (post-Lucky Charms) by downloading student papers to grade later. Then I decided to work on my Shakespeare final paper outline and annotated bibliography, and somehow I ended up looking at baby clothes on Amazon.
So that's where I am mentally at the moment.

Today I received the dress, shrug, and shoes that I'm going to wear to my baby shower in 2ish months. I'm totally in love with all of it. Comfortable and pretty and makes me even more excited for the shower. I have two countdowns to my due date (June 25th). I get Parents.com emails, which tell me that there's 104 days left, and the countdown on my Amazon baby registry, which tells me there's 15 weeks left. The second half of pregnancy (at least since the debilitating morning sickness stopped/the baby kicking started) is flying the fuck by. I love my little acorn squash and I'm looking forward to meeting them, but it's all really wild and surreal to me, honestly. I've just been very focused on surviving this semester (taking two PhD classes, teaching two classes) and trying to get work done on my writing and it's a lot to handle. I'm happy, I'm excited, and I'm just a twinge stunned by everything happening right now.
I'm a writer, teacher, and native of Queens, NYC. I love books, coffee, my kittens, community building, Buffy, and projects. Random Friend Requests accepted 99% of the time.
Reasons people are in the 1% of my RFR include, but are not limited to: you make me or other women on the site uncomfortable, you are generally not kind toward members of the community, I think you may be a spam bot, etc.

I hadn't, actually! I'm very into the idea of Inkshares, though. I'll see where the book goes with the publisher and agent who each have a copy in for review at the moment, but for sure keeping this on my radar.
