Well, just ordered my ticket for Let's Play Live in Tampa.  Achievement Hunter AND Funhaus?  Too good to pass up.  Plus, I went VIP so I can meet some folk afterwards!  Tampa's a long way from Wisconsin, but I'll manage.

So is everyone excited for the Nintendo Classic Edition or is it just old fucks like me?

I saw a kid at the gym, looked to be 6 or 7, wearing a people like grapes shirt. It made me laugh. I would have high-fived him had he been close enough.

We all know (or can guess) that I get a chubby for anything Achievement Hunter related. I became a sponsor because I wanted a way to show my support for Rooster Teeth in some small way. I upgraded to double gold for the same reason. It's a way for me to show even more support than I previously had been. Also, the perks make me feel extra appreciated. Early chance at VIP tickets? Sign me up. Special promotions and contests? Sold. I just worry about where I'm going to store all the merch!

About 2 years ago, I was surfing videos on YouTube. I'd had a crappy day; work was lousy, my tv broke, everything generally sucked. I was watching YouTube on my phone until my new tv part came in, and was checking out some videos about video games. In the suggestions, there was a video of some kid rage quitting some online shooter. I thought, "Maybe seeing some whiny 12 year old getting frustrated and quitting partway through an online match will cheer me up" (I'm kind of a dick like that). That video led to more and more until finally YouTube began suggesting a series of videos called Rage Quit from something called Rooster Teeth. I watched one or two and felt better. Then came the suggestion for some compilation labeled MichaelMania. I figured I had nothing else to do with my 45 minutes, might as well see what this was.

I fell in love with Achievement Hunter immediately.

I watched that original video again and again. It led to other things: the Raytage, the Geoffapalooza, the Gavageddon. I began watching Let's Plays. I gobbled them up. Many a depressing day at work had me come home, kick off my shoes, and watch AH until bedtime. I started telling people to watch them. I religiously watched a new Rage Quit every week when they came out. I remembered all my favorite phrases. I logged in to an old account for something the other day and couldn't remember the password. When the security question asked me "Who's the best archer in the world?", I not only remembered my password but had a good laugh as well.

Watching Let's Plays isn't just seeing a group of people play a video game for their job. It's about watching a group of guys hanging out and having a good time in a way that makes me envious that my friends aren't the same way. Forget multiplayer, there's just something about gathering in the same room for video gaming that will never get old, and the guys from AH are a good reminder of that.

At some point I decided I should check out some of Rooster Teeth's other offerings. I figured if they were affiliated with AH, that they were probably also high quality. I bought the RvB first 10 season bundle on a whim without ever seeing a single episode because I had that much faith in it. And there's so much more that I have to watch yet.

7 months ago, I decided that I'd had enough free entertainment from them to become a sponsor. Despite not being very active in the community (and having Jack as my only friend), I haven't regretted it once. Rooster Teeth is just something I want to be a part of.

Also, thinking about how Rooster Teeth could be interpreted as "cock bite" makes me laugh out loud every time.

PS. Here's the obligatory @RTContests because while true, this journal entry is also my shameless attempt at free RTX passes.
