      GTA V

So I got a job at EB Games the other day. This particular store is one of if not the busiest in western Canada.

How busy you ask? We currently have just under a thousand pre-orders for the game. So when the shipment came in, you can imagine how many boxes of awesome we got.

Why no pictures or frantic tweets about it? Rockstar is not fucking around with this one. Getting fired would be the least of my worries if I if decided to be an idiot....seriously.

So all I did was touch one....and I immediately got a boner.

Anyways, the new job is a fun new challenge for me.

Also, quick side note: One of the servers I work with came in late last Tuesday with a friend for appy's. Her cute friend found me attractive. It made me feel all warm inside to hear that. Just thought I should share that.

I see that i now have 69 watchers, this is most excellent.

I might do a giveaway to celebrate the occasion. I'll have to check on funds and what I can possibly give to my internet friends.

I have a better journal lined up tomorrow, but spoiler alert: I touched a GTAV game

So after class today, Adrian asked if I could stick around for a couple minutes.

He said I should start working on my demo!

      This..Is..Awesome!!! I CAN'T BREATHE RIGHT NOW GUYS!

It's so cool to think that someone in the voice over industry thinks that I am strong enough to book jobs and make money.

So this happened the other day.

Yeah, double rainbow, double lightning...... all the way across the sky!

We had an amazing summer with record amounts of time with unwavering sunshine. This was capped off with two days of super awesome thundershowers!

September is also supposed to be fantastic, or at least this week is forecast to be wonderful. September is usually pretty awesome. I don't mean to brag, but I am, and I actually mean to.

Vancouver gets a bad rap for raining so much, but fuck me, I'll take summers like that and rain all fall and winter any day.

      A Journey Through Voice Over

I just finished an article I wrote for The Button Mash, that I figured I might as well share on here as well.

      th_large_17.jpg

As a child, I always thought voice acting was neat, not the greatest thing, just neat. I was far more interested in becoming a professional athlete or astronaut. My interest increased as I grew older, but, was still never at the forefront of my mind. Over the past year this interest has morphed into quite the hobby.

Just under a year ago I bought a gaming HD-PVR and a microphone for the purpose of making videos for YouTube and Achievement Hunter's community guides. I made a handful of videos, but found the fun of playing and capturing games dwarfed by dealing with editing and dealing with my laptop. I did enjoy playing with my microphone though. This, to me, was the beginning of voice acting as a hobby.
Rooster Teeth and their machinima, Red vs Blue, was also a big driving force for me as a voice actor. Seeing that the guys that put this show together were gamers, just like me, broke down some preconceived barriers that you needed to be an artist or into drama to be a voice actor. Don't get me wrong, I know that the above is useful, but it was nice to see it wasn't a prerequisite. I didn't take drama in high school, I took chemistry and physics and played a ton of sports. I hated being around the drama kids.

Rooster Teeth's community site also lead to my first voice role. I found a thread, from a user, asking for site members to audition for a lead role in his machinima. I did not get this role, but my eagerness to participate let me voice act as an extra in an episode. Terry the Terrorist had three lines before dying, but I had fun and this only deepened my thirst to keep doing it.
Flash forward to April and Fan Expo Vancouver. At the Expo was a panel that really opened my eyes to my opportunities in voice over. Vancouver Acting School hosted a panel on voice over. The panel consisted of Jeff Evans Todd, Simon Hill, Michael Coleman and Adrian Petriw. I learned a ton, but the best nugget of information was that Vancouver is an amazing place to be if you're into voice acting.
I signed up for voice over classes at VAS the day after the Expo ended. Working with Adrian has been amazing. Every class I gain a little more knowledge and a little more confidence.

Recently I've started to take on indie roles posted on sites like Voice Acting Club and Voice Acting Alliance. Doing so has been great to help expand my range and give me extra practice throughout the week, outside of class. I recently got the role of a lovable idiot in a My Little Pony fan animation. Hilarious, I know, but auditioning and working on these lines has been a great way to work on my characters.

I've set a few goals to help turn voice acting from a hobby into a career. I've already hit a couple, but the next one is to get a demo. Currently, I'm in no rush to have a demo, but I would like to have one at the end of my ninth month of classes, the end of January. After this time I would like to work on my next goal, getting an agent. If this fails I can always go back to classes or just keep voice acting as a hobby. I know it's a longshot, but I'd hate to look back on all this and think, "what if?'
tl;dr : Craig was inspired by RvB, currently taking classes at VAS and is working towards a demo and an agent, with the hopes of turning voice acting from a hobby into a career.

      Awesome Wednesday Madness!

Today was pretty awesome, and it's not even 7 PM yet.

      1) The day started off at 10 AM when I checked my phone and saw I got the part for a voice over role that I auditioned for on Monday!

      2) This was followed by showering and sexying myself up for a job interview...which I absolutely nailed!

      3) I then took the skytrain into Vancouver to record the lines for the first episode from the role in #1

      4) During my booth time I got a call from a regional manager for my second interview of the day...nailed that one as well!

      5) Went to EXP for some quick celebration food!

      6) Right after leaving EXP, I got a call from the person who conducted my first interview earlier in the day, and I got the job!

      7) Now I'm going to play video games and watch Netflix all night!

I hate to brag (no I don't), but I'm pretty sure my Wednesday was better than yours....I wish I took pictures.

      Web Comics

I love web comics, how about you....

I'm going to stop before I go all Dr. Seuss on you, but I would like to share the handful that I love to check everyday.

      #1 Cyanide & Happiness
      pregnant-IN-OPPOSITE-LAND.png

I've been reading this daily comic for almost a decade now. I still fondly remember finding this comic for the first time in the ninth grade. Chances are you've seen one of these before, stick figures riddled with amazing dick and fart jokes.

      #2 Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
      20100501.gif

I discovered SMBC during my summer research at TWU. This comic is like all the awesome parts from The Big Bang Theory distilled into a comic.

      #3 The Button Mash
      0014.png?resize=620%2C448

The Button Mash is home of Rooster Teeth's very own Luke McKay and Jose Rojas and is also home to Balls 2 That comics. I love everything that comes out of this comic partially because I get to talk with both of them in person after a comic. It's also fun being in the vicinity when the wheels get turning on a comic.

      #4 Cheer Up Emo Kid
      canadian-standoff.jpg

Cheer Up Emo Kid is done by another friend of mine, Enzo. I met Enzo at a Button Mash get together and fell in love with his comics. Enzo does a killer job of delivering his punchlines, I can't stress how much I enjoy seeing a new comic has been posted.

What web comics do you enjoy reading?
