Since My Last Post. . .

We made it to 2007. . .Rock on.

Tex tore up two MORE leashes! (My husband left one on the floor, the other one I had on the edge of the kitchen table. . she managed to bump the table enough to drop the leash and tore that up too. . . now leashes have a special shelf.)

I survived the dreaded Christmas season at work. Radio's just as crazy as retail! We're now on some good ol' downtime before we start 1st Quarter Promotions.

I'm now working back at the rink once a month to help out a dwindling staff (half of them are on the speedskating team and they take off for meets, etc.) I'm happy to be back at a pace where it's fun to be there, but don't have to worry about the childish drama so much.

AT&T has made it's fantabulastic merge to bring about even more Net Neutrality issues. (Thanks Burnie for bringing this up at the U of I. . . couldn't have come at a better time.)

I've made the decision to "GASP!" cut down on my addictive amounts of soda and cut out French Fries every day except Fridays (hey. . gotta have SOME reward!). This doubled with some more exercise comes in a vast effort to drop some weight before Summer's Jamskating Nationals (I'm not competing, but I'd sure as hell would like to LOOK like I still skate once in a while.)

That's about all that's going on. . .hope all is well with everyone!

      What a crazy month!

So most of my crew is at Winter Skating Nationals. . .but due to the hectic work schedule and the sudden realization that I truly am in adulthood. . I am home this time around. . .maybe summer will bring better chances for me to go.

Work is going to get real crazy real quick. . starting with tonight. . .I head back tomorrow to finish up things that I just couldn't get done tonight. I mean. . I COULD'VE done them, but then I'd be loopier than I normally am. . and I decided I wanted half a brain left when I got home.

Tex is a growing girl. . .now at 12 pounds, 12 weeks, 2 pointy ears, and numerous sharp little teeth. :-) We're working on the biting/nipping/grab a sock and run around the house with it thing. . .but she's successful in many other cool little tricks, and she melts hearts wherever she goes. :-)

Saw on Yahoo News where the straps to the Wiimote/nunchuck set would fly off and smack/break things. . yipes! Maybe this is why I haven't trusted my husband with one yet. I can only imagine him whirling that thing around and busting himself in the eye or something. . ouch!

Actually, funds didn't allow it this time around, but perhaps early next year, we will join the cool kids with the Wii. :-)

Okay. . time to start the last weekend I own until new Years. . . take care everyone!

"I told you I was sick!"

After three weeks of being in a total state of fatigue and nausea, my back starts to hurt too! . . .great. . .

So what the nurse chalked up as the common flu, was actually a kidney infection that could've been taken care of. . well. . 3 weeks ago!

Antibiotics are wonderful though. Outside of THEIR side effect of drowsiness, I'm feeling much much better. . .

Tex tried to break her leg on the link on her doggy pen tonight. . .scared me half to death. . twice. . .well, almost twice since I'm still alive. . after about 10 minutes of yelping and wailing, she's running, jumping, playing as usual. . .what a trooper. That's twice she's put me in a panic (the other one was a result of her running into the crawlspace in our house for a 1/2 hour.) When is it my husband's turn to get a scare? Seriously!

Anywho, it's Wednesday night. . . drowsiness has set in, time to ring in the rest of the week the right way. . by sleeping! ;-)

      Enjoy your week, everyone.

Tex's First Taste of Good Deeds

Tex is now growing big at 7 weeks old. . . so while she's still in the super socialization phase, we decided to go on an adventure of Good Deeds. My mother works at a nursing home here in town, and I took Tex out to meet and greet with the residents. I think she's found her calling in life. No matter how rowdy and moody she can get at home, she was VERY gentle and loving to the elderly folks in the home. The best part of it is the big smiles and lit up eyes when they saw my little fuzz butt. :-) We've decided to make it a bi-weekly thing. . .I'm so proud!

      An Evening with Burnie...Welcome!

"How many of you guys are familiar with Red vs. Blue?"

Nearly all the hands go up in the crowded lecture hall at the University of Illinois.

"How many are on the Forum?"

Only half of the hands go up. . .my hand stayed down as my husband raised his in pride.

"What's the matter with the rest of you?" Burnie jokes. . .but that's enough of a guilt trip for the chick sitting the front row. :-)

My name is Lora, and I come from a one and a half horse town called Danville. How do you find it? Take U of I, go directly right on your map until you plow into the Indiana Border. There I am. . .in the midst of corn and beans.

I work a LOT. . .I'm the Production Director for a radio station here in town. When I come home, I work on mixes here at home for an Underground sport called Jamskating. (Hint. . take hip-hop and breakdancing, attach rollerskates under your feet, and try not to bust your ass.)

At home, I have a husband that works just about as much as I do, a turtle who only has its back legs (fight with an unknown critter) and a now 7 week old Hyped little Welsh Corgi named Tex. . .trust me, she fits her name very well!

Going back to last night, I had a GREAT time listening to the discussions with Burnie on topics such as the tech specs of the RvB studio, Conglomerates shifting towards the internet, and the not-so-distant future of Video Game Design as we know it. You're welcome back anytime to C/U, Burnie. . .just give us all the heads up. . .

And for everyone out there, feel free to say hi! I don't bite. But I can't guarantee that Tex won't. :-)
