RWBY Theories: Why is Adam Taurus portrayed as a monster and a villain?
Adam is portrayed as a monster and a villain because he was cursed when he was a child. His mask was a symbol of his curse. His mask represents to hide a monster that humans think he is. Because he is a Faunus, humans mistreated him, even when he is cursed.
Adam during his childhood was a goodhearted person; he did as he was told by his parents, he was kind, and he wanted to change the world with peace and equality. Adam and Blake are good friends during the time, he would defend for Blake whenever she needed help and he would play fight with her. Although, he had a kind personality, he was also impatient, judgmental, and manipulative towards others.
But as years passed, his parents died tragically by a hands of one of Salem’s followers. Adam tried his very best to fight off the murderer but was easily defeated. Adam was repulsed by her appearance and looked away. Disappointed by seeing that there was no love in his heart; she cursed Adam by placing a mask on him. The mask however caused his face to burn and scar to make him hideous-looking if a mask went off. Salem cursed Adam with a spell stating, “If he can learn to love another and earn her love in return by the time the mask fell, the spell will be broken…” Not only the mask burned his face, it changed Adam’s nature, his ways of changing the world, and his kindness went away. Adam swore to lead the group called the White Fang someday to start a revolution towards mankind.
When he was now leader of the White Fang, Adam changed his ways towards Blake and wanted love from her.
Possibly a curse will be broken by not Blake Belladonna, but a human. It is possible that a human will break a spell because that woman represents Belle. Although Blake Belladonna represents Belle, the human Belle can lead Adam back into a beautiful sight of the world and peace.
Human Belle will teach Adam how to be kind towards other Faunus and animals, how to read (if he never had a chance to read), how to act like a gentleman, and how beauty is found within.
Adam will at first be harsh towards the human Belle, but later on he will protect her and will learn that human Belle will love him as he is. Adam after he has a change of heart will still lead the White Fang, but will change its revolutionary ways into a peaceful protest once again with some help. Adam’s mask will fall off once a spell is broken by human Belle and he will gain back his sanity, and will change into a kind and gentle soul.
