So looks like I haven't done an update in, like, a year, so figured I should add some life updates so anyone who's interested know's what I'm up to. Plus I feel like writing out some of this stuff and I can't be bothered to start a fully fledged blog...
So in a weird 5-sectioned thing:
So at long last, after over 24 years (although admittedly in the first half I probably wasn't looking), I have a girlfriend. She's called Toni and she's lovely. If you've been to any of the RTUK meetups, you'll probably have met her already and she loves coming to the mettups so that's always a plus :)
Work is pretty standard, I do software development for a living now. Sort of almost senior dev, I dunno, it's complicated. I'm pretty sure I should be getting paid more given how much more I'm doing now that when I started, but I'm still waiting on that...
My biggest hobby is my karting and this year I upgraded to the club 100 lightweight championship. These are seriously fast karts on outdoor circuits and the competition has been fierce. The championship finished this past saturday and, despite having to retire from the last race with a snapped chain (the thing that connects the engine to the wheels), I finished 11th in the championship.
The highlight of my championship has got to be the race in this coverage: (I'm Christopher Powell, in the black racesuit and helmet and number 52, if you didn't know/couldn't work it out)
I'll be entering the same championship again next year and think I've got a real chance to finish high up, so here's hoping
To stay fit (and keep my weight low for karting) I do a lot of long distance running. This year I ran 27km in wings for life (You get chased by a car and when it overtakes you you're out, it's pretty exciting), a half marathon (21km) and a 10km run. By some fluke I've got an entry into the London marathon for next year on my first attempt, so I'm going to have to start training for that.
I've always wanted to try and do a marathon in costume (preferably video game related and then double up by raising money for something like child's play), but having gotten into running, I now realise how much harder it is to run when not in proper kit, so I might have to leave that a year or two...
Unfortunately with a full time job, plus the karting, I don't seem to have much time for gaming at the moment, making or playing. I probably play the most games when I'm with Toni in fact. I've started playing fallout 3, which I never got around to the first time, to counteract the fallout 4 hype, as I'm still yet to get a nextgen console. I'm getting increasingly tempted by one, but I'm playing games so little at the moment, it doesn't seem entirely worth it at the moment
tl;dr; Just look at the 5 headings, that's what I'm doing. Cheerio!
