I can't watch a single video on the site right now for some reason. Everytime I do the site claims it took too long to load despite the fact that the "It didn't load within 5 seconds" answer comes back in about 2 seconds after pressing the play button. Anyone else seeing this?

Animation is absolutely amazing but the only thing I love almost as much as Animation is Music. Can't stop listening to Seven Lions, Blackmill and Ellie Goulding.

I mean I'm not doing anything else right?

      1. I'm In my first year of college. Although it's community it has a great media program and I'm learning a lot about making video, audio and everything else in the media world.

      2. I love storytelling. Of any kind, although I don't like every story. I love the kinds of worlds, scenarios and characters the human mind can create. I love that we can create books, movies and games that are so unique and creative.

      3. I don't care if we disagree on a topic or several. If I like you, I'll keep talking to you, hanging out, helping you when I can. Whatever, it would be boring if we just nodded our heads to everything the other said.

      4. I love music. To me nothing is worse than silence and music is one of the perfect things to fill that silence. It's one of the few things that will instantly put me in a good mood and make a bad day seem alright. And I love it when a song gets me to think, I love to just sit back and see new ideas to a new good song.

      5. I write. I have been writing for about... God is it 3 or 4 years now? Anyway, I've got maybe 20 different stories saved on a little flashdrive that I've been filling up in all that time. Although none of them are finished yet, real life gets in the way a lot, and I've been suffering some mad writers block until recently. I'm not that great of a writer but I write because one day I want to know how to animate and when I do I want to animate everything I've written in the past few years and anything else I write in the future. I want to be able to tell my own stories someday.

I have an assignment to make a video about an artist I admire, so I decided to do one about Monty and his animation. Problem is all of the video I have is in MP4 format which my video editor does not support so I need to go to conversion sites and upload and download them off of there so I can edit the footage, each video takes about 20 minutes and I haven't done any editing yet but if I don't keep going I'm not gonna get it done before class... I just wanna sleep

    • How I Remember Monty

I never had the pleasure to meet such an awesome man. But when I started to really become a fan of Roosterteeth, the first thing that caught my eye was when Tex fought the Reds and Tucker, that amazing animation, I was awestruck. Then I remember listening to a Podcast and Burnie began to praise the lead animator, a man by the name of Monty Oum. Looking into Roosterteeth and on Google I found photos of Monty, and I won't lie, at the time I didn't think much. I mean I thought his animations were cool but that was about it, he just seemed like some guy. But as time went and my love for Roosterteeth grew so did my knowledge of Monty, I saw the work he did with both MOCAP and the computer through videos, I heard from Roosterteeth employees how he tirelessly worked to create animation for Red vs Blue. Then the day RWBY's Red Trailer premiered I was one of the many who jumped to whatever method we could to spread it across the internet and to any friends I felt would be interested (admittedly not many), I could not contain my excitement, it was beyond cool. Then a few months later while listening to another podcast I heard Burnie mention that he wanted to hire Monty since seeing Haloid. When I looked it up it did seem like Monty's work and it seemed similar to RWBY in terms of quality and just his plain style. Yet I later figured out that Monty did it in his own home, being blown away feels like an understatement to say the least,he didn't have the money nor equipment big studios are usually able to use and yet he was able to make something like that? I looked into where he went to school, thinking it had to have been some amazing arts or media related school and, according to Google, learned that he dropped out of High School. I couldn't wrap my mind around it, but my respect for him grew exponentially. Little did I know, that was the day Monty became a hero to me. See, at the time I was a High School student, and I was struggling with my grades and homework. I was barely making C's, mostly D's, and my teachers and my family, were constantly berating me about the failure I was undoubtedly going to receive. All I would hear day in and day out from teachers and parents would be warnings that if my grades did not rise I wouldn't have any shot in the real world. Yet despite that, when I got home and went on my computer, I would go onto Roosterteeth and if it was that time of year, Watch RWBY and RVB. And after I was done I would begin to write my own stories, telling myself that although I loved it, there wasn't much I could do to let others see it, even if the desire was there. At the end of the first season of RWBY, something clicked. Here I was, some High School kid, doing nothing more than going through the daily grind, barely living, and watching as the world went on around me. And yet here was Monty, who despite everything, continued to animate, continued to create his fan work, his animation, and finally his own story. He did what he loved, no matter how hard the road became. Soon after I pulled up the stories I had been writing and all I could think was, "People will see you." And I wrote. I made it through my last year of High School and am now enrolled in a college with a great media program, I'm learning tips and tricks that I don't know how I could learn them any other way. And although I was happy, something felt off, like I was forgetting something. I was doing the work, I was learning how to work in the field and yet still, I wasn't meeting my goal. And I was starting to fall back into my "Live through the motions lifestyle." Until today, until I heard the news. At first I was shocked, at first I couldn't believe it, he was supposed to get better, we were supposed to see him again on monday... and that's when I finally remembered. Music, storytelling, everything I loved about the field gave me the inspiration to create is the reason I wrote my own stories. But before I knew about Monty, the world of animation seemed impossible to reach, the world I loved was just some silly dream that I would never be apart of. But Monty showed me that I was wrong, he showed me that I could achieve my dream, that I could tell the stories that flowed through my mind. That I chose the path I'm on right now. It's because of Monty that I will become an animator and I will tell my own stories someday. One day I will make it. That is how I will remember Monty. My only regret is that I could not have met the man who showed me it was possible, shook his hand and told him "Thank You."
