It's February 9 at 6 in the morning. I'm creating a new group, because my friend fucked up and so I had to delete the one I've created the day before. If you don't know this story, this joke isn't for you.
Anyways... That day in February, I knew "Let's Make Some RTX 2016 Bound Friends" was gonna bring some interesting people and perspectives. It happened last year so I was excited that I was going to get through that again, but this time with my best friends instead of going at it alone. The results were spectacular and much more than I could have ever expected.
We're going on to 5 months now, but it feels like a lifetime. This group became more than just for people looking to meet up at RTX. It became a group of best friends wanting to lift each other. People who want to see each other succeed. We've helped each other beyond what any "normal" person would and shared feelings deeper than any conventional friendship.
And to that, I am grateful. More so than I could ever express.
I've met some wonderful people in the real world, but none hold a light to the best people in my group. They've helped me when I needed it the most, going above and beyond, when they easily could've just said "sorry to heat that" and moved on with their own lives. Sometimes it even felt as though they put my happiness above their own. They just wanted to lift me up and I was/am more than willing to do the same now and forever. I only hope that we don't lose contact after RTX, with our lives getting more and more busy and everyone tackling new adventures. Some people, me included, are moving to Austin. These are potential lifelong friendships that started because I was bored and decided to make a group for a nerdy convention.
So to everyone in my group: Thank you. And I love you. And I can't wait to tear it up in Austin with all of you.
