i'm back mostly. facebook has taken up alot of my time though i don't know how with this site being way more awesome. not much has happened since my last journal idon't think. i've gone back to school and the buttheads gettin ready to deploy to iraq and i think this time he might actually go. no anxiety attacks this year. think it was all in how it was handled last year. sometimes the military is handles things like goobers. also goin to the wings vs. avs game in denver on the 1st. i so can't wait. anyhow hope you all have been awesome :) eyeballin the 1300+ posts in the nhl thread. not sure if i have the patience to read all that hehe.

also i somehow blocked someone...i have no idea how.

"What's good enough for cigarettes is good enough for games, at least according to Congressman Joe Baca. As reported by Gamepolitics, the California Democrat has introduced a new bill that would add warning labels to any game rated Teen or higher by the ESRB.

Titled "The Video Game Health Labeling Act of 2009," the bill would apply to games distributed both at retail and over digital services like Xbox Live. The label itself sounds eerily similar to the kind that graces tobacco products: "WARNING: Excessive exposure to violent video games and other violent media has been linked to aggressive behavior."

Baca believes the game industry hasn't done its job informing consumers about certain kinds of content.

"The video game industry has a responsibility to parents, families, and to consumers -- to inform them of the potentially damaging content that is often found in their products," he said in a press release. "They have repeatedly failed to live up to this responsibility. Meanwhile research continues to show a proven link between playing violent games and increased aggression in young people. American families deserve to know the truth about these potentially dangerous products."

Unfortunately, that truth is more elusive than Baca might have you think. Unlike the undisputed connection between smoking and an increased risk of developing lung cancer, no court in the country has formally acknowledged the definitive link between violent video games and violent behavior. Prior bills attempting to legislate based on this connection have been dismissed."

can't help but get a little pissy everytime i read something like this. if parents would discipline and pay attention to their kids instead of using video games as a baby sitter we wouldn't have half the problems we have. apperantly parents just need someone to blame when their kids turned into little hooligans because they didn't swat their asses when they were little...ugh...soooo how's everyone doing?

so can't wait for dec. 27th. my boyfriend (the most awesomest guy in the world) came home with the last two avs/wings tickets that they had out on base. i dunno if i personally woulda paid $104 for each ticket. he got me a bunch of computer bits too. don't really know whats brought on the spending spree. that kind of stuff generally makes me nervous but it is christmas time and i told him no more stuff. now i just have to figure out something awesome to get him for christmas >.<

in other news i was up in michigan for a few days last week to visit my papa. he's not lookin too hot and he's not real with it anymore. i'm really hoping it wasn't that last time i got to see him but. i spent most of my time up there with him so if it was at least i had that much.

it might snow this weekend. its the begining of october. even in michigan it rarely snows this early. :( and it had better not snow up there when i'm home the 22-25. i'm sure i'll have my fill of it this year. idaho spoiled me. i hear when it does snow here its vertical snow due to the wind....that's just gross. nothin like gettin your face beat up by snow.

also warn any girl off listening to just a dream by carrie underwood if their man is gettin deployed. awesome song, but sad.

you can guess what the journal is going to be about. while we were in europe our basement flooded and has a few times since. i've been putting off going down there for fear of finding out what was ruined as it turns out two boxes of books so far. hundreds of dollars worth of books. i'm happy it wasn't any hardcovers particularly my autographed george r. r. martin book. but it was many of my wheel of time books. maybe now i'll get them in hard cover. there's a few i'll choose not to replace but the vast majority of them i will. unlike some people i do like to reread. i tell my boyfriend its like watching a movie over again. which for me it is. after a little bit the words cease to exist.

another peice of bad news i got today was that the butthead has some officers class from jan-feb which wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have to go to cst for a month before going back over to iraq in april. it'll probably leave me the short month of feb. with him until he comes home in oct/nov. blegh

save the good news for last. chili with potato dumplings huge smash. we stuffed ourselves on it. my boyfriend said it felt like thanksgiving which made me feel all mushy. cake isn't too chocolatey. its freaking amazing. i'm rather impressed with myself for having cooked them both since i'm almost the worst cook i know. oh and training camp is starting soon YAY!!! god i can't wait to watch hockey. i don't even care if its not wings hockey.

so i was in a cooking mood which doesn't happen very often and i made a cake, chocolate fudge swirl with chocolate fudge icing. might be a bit much but we'll see. getting used to cooking at 6k feet is interesting. chili seems normal though. i'm making that with potato dumplings. mostly new stuff so i'm anxious to try it.

well home from europe and finally caught up on my watch list. didn't respond to most as i'm slightly wore out from everything. it was awesome over there but if i had it to do over i'd spend far less time in paris. mostly because it was crowded...and dirty. i'll post pics at some point when/if i get them on my computer.

Freak out with Joy, you mean. :)

Sure, Having the government have their hand in that many things is definitely unsettling, however, the whole reason we don't trust them is because they don't enough for us, and more for their own political motives, however, if the government provided free health care (to an extent), and Free Education (at least to BA, I argue further), than the government might have more trust and would be less shady. Therefore, less reason to freak out.

But that's all irrelevant, since the united states gov, ISN'T doing those things, instead they are a steaming pile for forcing jobs overseas and not providing adequate support back home.

Yeah, it was a bit of real life stuff and someone on the site... I felt feelings for still that weren't recripricated, so I decided that I needed to break away from the site for a while and it's done wonders for making me realize how little I need that person... I mean we're still talking, but I've accepted that nothing will come of it so... yeah... thanks for the concern ;)

Far as the game, sounds like it's going to be a blast!

Thats why I like Eve. Nothing is more satisfying then knowing that somewhere, when you kill someone, they are at their desk, throwing their desk chair at a wall because you just blew up their faction battleship fit with dedspace modules (comparable to epics), and they can't do jack all about it.

      Eve is Srs. Bsns.

In eve, its all about never flying what you can't afford to lose. I break this rule a lot. Its always a gamble, but thats what makes it fun. If you don't lose anything in PvP, except maybe a little gold here and a little gold there, then whats the fun? Where is the tension? Where is that thought that this battle counts, other than for giggles.

Not to mention, when you kill someone, they leave a wreck, and whatever survived the explosion is lootable, so you can profit off their death. Which means if you are at war with another alliance, or corporation, you can disrupt their economy buy blowing up their haulers (space trucks) and stealing their minerals.

Knowing that you've made someone rage-quit the game is teh sex.

I had my list of to-do's for sure, but even that was exceeded by leaps and bounds when we got there. Definitely see the sharks, and make the boy go to Star Trek.
