    • So Hungry

      Monkey300

      All the time...

I'm back for school (again). For those of you keeping count (no one, not even myself) this is my 4th semester in a row, granted I did have some breaks in between semesters of about 2 or so weeks each.

Now, I'm living on an off campus house with 4 other friends of mine. I cannot explain how hungry I am, constantly in need of food. Like. Omg. I'm going to die.

      Someone save me.

      Song for Journal

If you say the honest truth, and what really matters, you can leave knowing that everything about yourself was put out there. If people listen, and if you command their attention, they will know who you are.

I don't always get what I want out of life and I suspect everyone that has ever existed has felt this way. Not every plan sees its fruition. For me, I get disappointed when the vision I have for something doesn't come to life, and that disappointment usually breeds frustration and more often than not anger. Last night, I made plans for the nth time to see Inception with my lady friend who I like quite a lot. She however coordinated with several other people, and we all went together to see it.

Was I disappointed? Of course, because I really wanted to go with her, and her alone. Have alone time with her. But I ended up having a great time with new people I met. We ended up hanging out all night, and that was fine by me. We didn't even end up seeing Inception (side note: this is the 3rd time I've planned to see it, all the times with my same lady friend. Of these 3 times, I've had to postpone, and then refund my tickets for the other 2 times including last night. I just can't catch a break with this movie). Which brings me to my point:

You know those disappointing moments in life where you don't get what you want? Run with those moments and seize what it gives you. It may not always be what you want, but if may be exactly what you need. And last night was precisely that.

    • Impossible to be Lost

      Monkey300

Maybe it is growing up, but things held true all through life slowly change. Perspectives, outlooks, attitudes. It comes with time. Sometimes, when you feel you have lost it all, and i mean truly lost it all, there are not many things one can look to for comfort. When you are in your head, and absorbed in it, you get anxious. What can one do, where can one go? Be it as horrible as any terror, it must be dealt with in appreciation of its magnitude and difficulty. Go talk a walk, think it out, process it and analyze it. It must be done. Walk a mile. And walk a mile back...

In the end, the comfort lies in the small things. When everything is straining, at the end of the day I still know I can throw a tight spiral and a mean fastball. And sometimes, that is the only thought that will get me to smile.

A restriction endonuclease that has a 6 base palindromic recognition sequence has GAA as its first 3 bases in the 5' to 3' direction. Complete its double-stranded sequence. If the cleavage point was between the C and the T, would the resultant digestion fragments have sticky ends? If yes, does the single-stranded overhand have a 5' or 3' end?

What the AIDS?!? I'm so going to fail this damn course, sometimes I'm so lost. Of course, it doesn't help I just never go to this class (for personal reasons). But I doubt even the online podcasts and lecture notes can help me. I understand this stuff, I just blah blah academia sucks.

I'm very hungry and I'm studying in the library after having next to nothing for breakfast (soy milk + cookies does not count!). I was hoping to run into a very pretty friend of mine, but she is not here and I am lonely :(

I can't wait for finals to just come and go. It's going to be one hell of an April when it rolls around that for sure. How's your April going to be?

      Hm.

Since about January I've been chasing a girl, and last night... well tonight, considering I haven't gone to sleep. Sorry, train of though just crashed. But that's over now. I realized that my window was small and it closed. She's literally too good for me, and I am what I am to her and I can't make her see otherwise. Sucks to know that, but such is life.

Things will change, but who knows in what ways. Needless to say, it's time to give space and move on. It ain't good knowing you've been left behind, but at the very least its nice to know where you are. Even if it's 5 miles back. At a gas station. Covered in zombies. And now you must run away from the zombies before they kill you. Jeeze, I should really get some sleep.

That is pretty much that. My marks are very sloppy right now, so I should probable be studying (and sleeping and doing a lot of things I'm not doing). At the very least though, I'm going to catch a few hours of sleep and then head to the library. I am very fond of you all (I don't know why I just said that...)

Here it is, your moment of zen!

When everything is lonely I can be my own best friend
I'll get a coffee and the paper, have my own conversations
with the sidewalk and the pigeons and my window reflection
The mask I polish in the evening by the morning looks like...

      Bright Eyes - Lua

Stevie: So, how messed up is everyones brackets? (Looking at you 'Nova and Kansas!)

It's okay. I got my revenge. I just upped the ante even more by switching to Luigi to eff both of them. I wont by fourteen points. I got lucky because Toad was obviously supposed to be the main competition. You can always tell in Mario Kart who is supposed to give you a run for your money. When I saw that Toad finished fifth the first race, I knew I was golden. After three races, I won all three and Toad had that fifth and two seconds. I had an eleven point lead going into the last race and literally couldn't lose it since first place only gives ten points. Still, I wanted complete revenge so I just went ahead and won that one too and ended up winning by fourteen points. That just doesn't happen in Mario Kart. Even on the 50 CC that doesn't happen. I'll blow through the last four grand prixs now since I have R.O.B. and his sweet karts. Mario Kart DS = dominated.

Just an FYI kinda thing though, just like the Bible or even the laws of America, the Qur'an is interpreted in many different ways. For instance, eating pork is against Muslim religions for the reason that pork is dirty. However, lets just say you're in a plane crash and all there is to eat is ham sandwiches then some will say it's ok to eat the ham sandwiches. Others, the more fanatic type, will disagree and say try to find another way.

    • Butterball1

Honestly, I wouldn't consider myself Muslim. I still follow some of their codes such as fasting and not eating pork, but I drink here and there and date, so I'm not the best person to ask; however, I still know a little bit about the Muslim religion and I'd be glad to answer any questions you have.

That isn't a bad one. However, I bet that is even too broad. I mean, the history of one freaking document was "probably" too broad. I bet I would have to narrow it down to a single month or something during that revolution.

    • sphinxter

The only thing that is inherently bad in that statement is "I'm giving up drinking." The rest of it can be dealt with and is actually probably good for Hell week. Then again, I myself have never had a "Hell week." That's the advantage of picking easy majors. It will pay off for you in the end though. At least, as long as you stay with it. I know plenty of people who are already have their pre-med degree and are now in med school working their way towards that. It only gets harder from where you're at good sir. When you become a doctor though, you can hire me as your butler though. So, get it done quickly. I need a job and some monies.

I want to see Sherlock Holmes really bad. You should watch it with me, and then I can get you in for free. You just have to...you know, travel to Missouri, and that definitely won't cost more than the price of a movie ticket. smiley8.gif

Avatar's not bad... It's the kind of movie I would want to watch at home, but it's also the kind of movie that was designed so I can't watch it at home. So I didn't enjoy it because I couldn't sit still through it. It looked pretty, but 2 hours and 40 minutes worth of prettiness is a bit much.

Who doesn't love Michelle Branch and Apolo? No one I want to be around, that's who.

I'm the kind of person that's always considering other people's viewpoints. I'm really good at understanding other people because I'm able to put aside what I think to listen to them, but that also makes it really easy to sway me to different sides. In this case, being happy means ignoring the opinions of everyone else, and that's really hard for me. Not that any of that matters though, since that's making quite a few assumptions. :P

I agree. Parts one and two were really peaceful if not a little weird and awkward. Like I said, the whole thing was one of those dreams that felt "real" and that I could control the whole time. It was quite a spectacle.

Of course I am not this Goku. However, if the multiverse theory is correct, and I agree that it is a little weird, then there's a good chance a universe like that exists. One thing I have always thought was that most people get their best ideas through dreams. Maybe Tolkien got a glimpse into a world where that stuff actually happened. Maybe JK did too. Yes, it doesn't seem plausible, but it's a fun thing to theorize about.

The fourth part...Yeah, that was one of the more urgent, wake the eff up moments ever. That's one thing I've always found weird though. I've always been able to "take control" of bad dreams at the last second and get myself out of them. I wish I could "control" more of my dreams. Although, I won't complain about being able to escape death. It does make me wonder why my body always gets me in at the right time though. Granted, in this instance, I was "in" the whole time. That's besides the point. I bet it has something to do with the chemicals that go through your mind when you feel fear.

    • sphinxter

Yes, you are becoming an adult who thinks things through for himself. You aren't the first eighteen year old to go through that and you won't be the last either. It's a good thing. The few people in life that don't have to go through such things never really "grow up" in the first place. Hardships are an unfortunate necessity of life.

    • sphinxter

Exactly. It's easy to be stress free and not let things get to you. Plus, when something does get to you, people generally take it more seriously knowing that not many things get to you.

While that's true, there's a difference between doing it as a baby when it can still be considered cute and when the mess isn't that big to being a twenty-one year old when it's completely self inflicted.
