Stay up all night from time to time

I stayed up all night last night watching anime. Now I've got to drag myself into work at 6 a.m. Oh well, at least I get off at 3 p.m. so I can come home and either watch more anime or take a nap.

      Kingdom Hearts/Kingdom Hearts II

Two very good games, awesome games in fact. I've played both several times, and will probably keep playing them over again. Still haven't played Chain of Memories though, I think there's a PS2 version, I should see if it's available in the states. If I could change just two things in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2, it would be to make it so that I could turn the subtitles off. Unless I'm just dense and didn't notice how to do it, I remember for sure that I couldn't turn them off in KH2, can't remember whether it's possible in the first game. Also, I would really like it if I could go back and watch all the cutscenes and cinematic scenes without having to play through the game all over again. It would be kind of neat if you could watch all of them anytime you wanted. Oh well, right now I'm just waiting for the DS and PSP games to come out.

Edit: The PS2 version of Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories came out in the states back on December 2, how did I miss that? IGN rated it fairly high and I've come to trust their ratings most of the time. Oh, and it seems that someone else thought it would be a good idea to be able to watch the cutscenes at any time, because if you can manage to beat the game, then all the cutscenes become available. I'm going to have to pick that game up soon. Problem is that I was considering replaying KH1 and 2 again (it might be worrying that that would be the third time I've played through them this year) so me being the way I am, I'm going to want to play them in chronological order, which means that if I do pick up chain of memories then I'm going to play through KH1 before I play CoM anyway. It's kind of funny that with all the new and 'amazing' games that have been coming out, I think I'd rather play older games, like these Kingdom Hearts games. I've been re-reading my Halo novels as well and that's been giving me an urge to play the games. Especially Halo 2, while Halo 3 is great, I have some really fond memories of Halo 2 and I haven't played it in awhile.

      I do make journal entries...sometimes

Well, I had my wisdom teeth out last month and I must say the worst part (besides not being able to eat solid food the first couple days and then having it be a little painful to do so after that) was the next week when the teeth along my lower right jaw were spreading back out after being pushed forward by the impacted wisdom tooth behind them. I thought the sockets that the wisdom teeth came out of would hurt worse; I was wrong. While my other teeth were spreading back out they were crying out "Freedom! We can stretch ourselves out again! Yippee!" or some such happy talk like that, and I was feeling the worst throbbing ache I've ever experienced. I actually took more painkillers during those 3 or 4 days than I did the whole week or so after my teeth were taken out that I needed pain medication.

I hate throbbing, aching pain. I think that it's the worst kind and with my job I'm no stranger to pain. Working in the garden center at Lowe's means that I'm constantly lifting things that are 40 pounds or more. Let's guesstimate and say that on average I have to lift 40 pounds (or more) at least 100 times per 8 hour shift. Some days I'll have to do more than that, some days less, but I'll say it averages out to around 100 times. So if you just do the simple math you'll find that over the course of 8 hours I'll have shifted 4000 pounds of weight in around 40 pound increments. Luckily business is starting to slow down a bit, so hopefully my worn out body will have time to recover before the christmas trees arrive. Worn out muscles ache and get strained easier, also it makes you clumsier so you end up with more scrapes and bruises. Usually I just suck it up and ignore it, but when my jaw was aching I was popping pills almost every 4 hours or as soon as I felt it was ok to take another dose. Oh, and even then it was still less pain than I was in before I had my wisdom teeth taken out. So I was still happy to deal with it.

Now for something more important. I HATE games that use cheap tricks to make the game difficult. Like a third person shooter that almost forces you to use the zoom function to attain any kind of accuracy and then throws in random snipers (with laser sights so you know they're aiming at you, but you can't see the laser when you're zoomed in) that can kill you with one shot. It's got an upgrade system, but if you don't upgrade certain things then it's almost impossible to advance. It's geared to be a shoot 'em up game but if you rush in guns blazing it's as good as committing suicide. The snipers are always in positions where you can't concentrate on taking them out because of enemies on your level which will probably kill you while you're trying to take out the sniper. You might as well give up on trying to take the sniper out unless you're out of his range, if you see his laser lining up on you then you have to hit the dodge button rapidly and move away, away, away until you're absolutely sure the laser sight is gone, if you stop for one instant while that laser is still targeting you, BAM, headshot and you are dead and restarting from the last checkpoint. It doesn't mean the game is impossible, it just plays dirty and ruins the flow of the game, thereby ruining the enjoyment. Oh well. I'll just have to play it when I'm not so tired, otherwise I might just throw the controller through the window in frustration.

      Wisdom teeth

I'm finally getting my wisdom teeth out. One of them is finally causing enough regular pain that I don't want to deal with it anymore, especially since I've been on painkillers for a week now. I've been looking at my work schedule and I think I'll get 5 days off in a row. I'll have almost this whole week off. I get labor day off somehow, then I work tuesday, I won't be going into work wednesday because that's the day I'm getting my wisdom teeth taken out. I probably won't go into work thursday either, depending on how I feel and how drugged up I have to be because of the pain, not counting on anything there though. I'm scheduled to have a day off friday plus the new work week starts saturday at lowes and next week my days off are saturday and sunday. So I'll be out wednesday and if I take thursday off as well, I'll get 5 days off in a row. It sucks that I have to resort to major dental surgery to get out of work though.

      Raking in the overtime

Wow, i'm gonna get a ton of overtime this week, i've worked over 8 hours every day so far and almost worked 13 hours tuesday, plus I volunteered to go back in tonight and work some more so I'll probably end up with at least 10 hours of overtime if not more. I figure within the next couple months they're going to start cutting back on hours once our sales start to slow down so I'd better take advantage of the authorization for overtime while I can. I'm thinking of getting a new job anyway, so I'd better milk lowe's for as much money as I can while I'm still there. I really don't want to stay in the position that I'm in right now, but if I stay at lowe's the only direction I even slightly want to go in is toward a management position and i really don't want to do that either. so I think a job change is in order, I should get a new pair of glasses first though, in case I can't find another job with vision coverage in the insurance.

      Karma Level

The past couple of years I've kind of moved up in karma as I've aged, got up to level 24 around the same time that I turned 24 and whatnot, however; I haven't been on here much in the past year and I'm going to turn 25 in less than 2 months, so I don't think I'll get my karma up that high that quick. Oh well, it's not really that important anyway, just kind of amusing.

      It's been awhile

Wow. I haven't actually taken the time to get on here for a long time now, partly because I had issues with my DSL modem that I've been too lazy to fix and partly because I've been fairly busy for the past year. I finally motivated myself into fixing my net connection so that I can use my wireless router again since I decided to get a new laptop with my tax return and rebate check. I figured what's the point in paying for a laptop that has built in wireless capabilities if I can't even use those abilities in my own home. Now I get to play with my new laptop online from anywhere in the house while I get it set up the way that I want it.

Status update: (for anyone who cares, if anyone actually reads this)

Still working at Lowe's (though hopefully I'll motivate myself into changing that soon)
New laptop (as I mentioned above)
Moved into an apartment last november and then moved out after about a week.
      Watched a lot of anime.
      Played lots of video games.
Put a different motor in my car after warping the head of the old motor.
Got new wheels and tires for my car after blowing out a tire from driving too long on a bent rim.
Dated a girl for awhile, let her break up with me without too much of a fuss, still remain pretty good friends with said girl.
Went back to watching a lot of anime and replayed a few games and played through a lot of new ones. smiley0.gif
Found out that I have an older sister (that was a little bit of a shock).

Like I said, I've been busy.

Wow, I found time to return.

No, I haven't died, my internet did for awhile, but I fixed it. Unfortunately it was the type of thing where I actually had to call tech support which pissed me off, I swear this computer is jacked up but it's not mine so I can't actually do what I want to do to it to fix it and unfortunately it's the main computer that the 'net connection gets to go to. Anyway, I used to have it set up so I had wireless but that's screwed up now and I haven't had the time or inclination to fix it between working 40 hours a week at a job that wears me out and trying to maintain a social life. Plus with me working nights for the past two weeks and the rest of this month I sleep most of the day. My car is also screwed up so I have to find time to get my buddy to help me out with that.

All in all, life is good, my job's alright though I wish I had a better one (that's how it always is though), I still get to hang out with friends, and I have enough money that I can indulge my anime, comics, and video game needs. Good times.

      Games

I played a few games over the summer, but not nearly enough. I was too busy feeding the beast that hungers for anime. I think I've finally mostly satisfied that hunger, or at least gotten it under control so that the 5 or 6 ongoing series that i watch each week are enough. But now I want to get some games to play in what little free time I have lately, but I need some money first. At least since I have a regular job now I can probably start to afford some games. I've really been wanting to play some Final Fantasy lately, I just realized that I've never beaten a single Final Fantasy game ever. The first one I bought was Final Fantasy X and I got stuck and set it aside for awhile and then it disappeared so I've never beaten it. I was playing Final Fantasy VII last year, but I got sidetracked and never finished it and it belonged to a friend, so I don't know if I'll ever get to finish it since we aren't sharing a dorm room anymore. I'd kind of like to get Final Fantasy XII since it looks pretty sweet, but I don't know if I'll have time to play it, working in the garden center at Lowe's has been wearing me out so much I don't have much energy when I get home, though I do get two days off, unfortunately I share one of those days off with my dad and I think it hurts his feelings if I just want to chill out and play games by myself or read or watch anime. God of War 2 comes out tomorrow, I liked the first one a lot even though I thought it was kind of short, but I did play it for almost 2 days straight when I got it and not all games can be like Kingdom Hearts the first time I played it when I played it for 13 hours without stopping one time and still had a lot of the game left to go through. Maybe I should get my copy of San Andreas back from my brother. I've completed all the story missions but that game is still hella fun to play if you're just trying to chill out with nothing in particular to do. I'm still hoping I can get a job offer for the computer job that I interviewed for last week, then I could get weekends off and have a better schedule for getting together with friends since almost none of my friends are free on mondays and tuesdays.

      Maybe another job

I just interviewed for a company that provides internet service and tech support among other things. I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll get a job offer. While I like working at Lowe's, I have this feeling that I won't like it if I have to work there for a long time. So I'm hoping I get a job offer from this company I interviewed with today.

i've actually only watched the first few episodes of pretear. got too poor for cable after that. grrr... glad to hear you liked it. it kinda reminded me a bit of sailor moon, which isn't bad because that's what got me hooked on anime in the first place. you always have a soft spot in your heart for that very first one....hehe i think. i don't know if fushigi yugi is in there anywhere or if you've ever seen it but that is my all time absolute most favorite anime ever. its got drama and silliness and everything.
