So I've been in Austin for a couple months now, but I've been living on the couch of my friend Danzer, who has very graciously been letting me stay there. But, starting the 10th, I'll be moving into a new apartment in South Austin with @Ijuycra and @RJ, where we'll be making more content together on our channels and the Let's Play Community channel. If you've noticed I haven't been uploading on my channel, this is the reason.

So yeah, I've got a nice freelance gig consistently with the Daily Dot, new apartment, living with friends, etc. I'm excited

And for those wondering, no, I haven't done anything with Rooster Teeth since my internship ended last summer, I'm just living in Austin now, it's not for that.

So a lot of people here don't know about something that's a big part of my life. Sure, I do a lot of freelance editing/PA/Grip/etc, but I've made short films as well. Not a lot, and not the best, but still. Back when I was in college, I made a 25 minute action/scifi short film called Witchbane: Hunters. This short was supposed to be (and in some ways, still is) a prequel to a feature film I planned to make.

Like most college shorts, this isn't the best. Not good acting, not good dialogue for them to work with anyways, not good sound, etc. However, what I did think we got right was the story, and setting up the world of Witchbane, which, truthfully, was the entire point of the short to begin with.

So what's Witchbane? In the world of Witchbane, witches have been around for centuries, but the powers are passed from parent to child, passed through the genes. Not all the witches are bad, but using their powers are addictive, and the more they use, the blacker their soul becomes, tainting them. The most powerful witches were the 7 Seeds, centuries ago, and immortal. None of the Seeds are around in the modern day, all of them have been killed or gone missing. The story follows a small group of E.D.E.N. Witch Hunters who regulate witches, capturing the most dangerous or those that pose a threat to humans, while keeping tabs on the safe witches.

Alex is their reluctant leader with a legacy to live up to. His partner is Kate, a white witch (a witch whose powers have a cost taken from the human realm as opposed to the soul like most witches). Her powers are as an empath, and due to an unspecified accident, her and Alex's minds became trapped inside each other. They're never alone with their own thoughts. They have other teammates: Nox, the arrogant hacker, Marcus, the new guy who is also a white witch, and Barrett, an almost untrustworthy private investigator.

While they never appeared in the short film, there is set up for our main protagonist and antagonist. Bane is the real main character, the son of one of the Seed witches and one of the greatest witch hunters of their time, who wants to kill witches rather than capture them like EDEN does. He butts heads and ideologies with Alex but ultimately, he's still a good guy, if extreme. Meanwhile, there is another Seed witch, known only as Prometheus, who has been gaining his old powers back and is beginning to become a major threat by uniting the many witch covens of the world, and he's the number one target of Bane.

This is the initial short film, which puts focus on Marcus and his recruitment into Alex's EDEN team. It's not perfect, but I'm still proud of it.

So with that, Marcus is on the team, and they are given a warning about Prometheus.

This was several years ago, and guess what... the feature hasn't been made. I'd need money for that, and there's been a lot happening since then. Last year, one year to the day in fact, we were in the planning stages of a Witchbane webseries. A 9 part 10 minute episodes series that would once again be a prequel to the feature film, but would introduce Bane and a new temporary villain, Aries, the harbinger of war... Prometheus' war.

As you can guess, nothing came of that. We shot half the teaser trailer we would have used in a kickstarter, but the weather rained us out of the rest of the filming, and shortly after I got the RT internship, so it took me away for the summer. I came back to Dallas literally financially broke and it was put on the backburner.

The teaser we shot may see the light of day at some point down the line, but for now, not yet. I still plan to make a Witchbane movie, and maybe even the webseries, who knows, but right now, I need to get my life and finances sorted out. When I'm in a more comfortable place in my life, expect to see more. Until then, enjoy my college student short film and a few screenshots from the teaser we shot. To see all of my stuff, go to

I'm happy to say I'm now a freelance editor creating social media videos for the Daily Dot. They'll throw me videos to put together a few times a week and I can't wait to be doing more.

So next week marks 7 months since I started regularly posting videos on my YouTube channel. When I started, I was posting daily. It took about two months of that for me to realize how unrealistic that was with my time/income/etc. I moved down to posting three videos a week, and I've mostly kept to that schedule, missing a few days here and there depending on if I have a gig that keeps me busy and away from my desk. Even though I barely get any views besides my own adding annotations and cards, it's fun, and I enjoy doing it.

Some of the best content I think are the collaborations I can do with others, and I have some news coming soon on the front of collaborations with other Let's Play Community gamers on our own channel separate from my own.

In the meantime, I'll still be posting videos on the Let's Play Community channel, but I want to focus on quality, where in the past, I've fallen in the trap of making a video just for the sake of it. I'll definitely pop up in other commentaries, but for my own videos, I've got some ideas, but it'll have to wait till I have some free time outside of my own channel.

As some of you know, I'm back living in Austin, and I'll be moving in with some really cool friends of mine starting the beginning of June. I've been working freelance, doing PA and grip work wherever I can find it. I'm always looking for a more stable job, but I absolutely can't go back to working food industry or retail. I've been doing this film/PA/editing thing way too long for me to give that up, and I'd rather stress about those aspects rather than stressing about somebody else's food order.

So yeah, 7 months since starting my channel, which makes it about 8 months since leaving RT. Being there definitely left it's mark on me, and showed me what I really wanted to do and enjoyed doing, thus why I started my channel.

So if you want to watch me make a fool of myself three times a week, go ahead and subscribe. :)

Hey guys. I'm working on a video that needs footage from the original 1999 Unreal Tournament and from UT2004. Unfortunately, I have those discs, but they're at my parents home in another city. If anyone has those games in their steam library and can capture footage using fraps, obs, or xsplit, could you grab me about 30 seconds of gameplay footage to use in the video? (We can't use footage from other people's videos already on youtube, so I need some original raw footage to use in the project)

Hey guys, so I'm working on an idea for a possible ongoing community show. nothing fancy, but it would be gaming related. I need to find somebody who's good at making title card art or animation, or art assests that i can animate in premiere or after effects. Something I would edit between short segments of the video.

If anybody's interested in helping out, message me here on the site or add me on skype: phoenixfilmsj79.

I'm filming some Grifball tonight and could use more people if anyone is interested. The commentary will be a bit unorthodox, too, so if you're in game I may want to have you record a short something in it as an added voice
