Yeah, I'm still around. I pop in from time to time, but I don't really post much anymore. Not sure why. But I still respond to messages and such.

Doctor Who is out... for Halloween this year, I shall be a mad scientist! I was uneasy about the whole Doctor Who idea anyway, I just didn't feel like I could pull off the character.

So, mad scientist! Woo! I'll probably base portions of the costume on Dr. Horrible, but I really don't like the design of his labcoat.

If all things remain equal, I think I'll be going as Doctor Who for Halloween.

    • What should I be for Halloween this year

      Possumdude0

Help me figure out what to be for Halloween this year! One of the clubs I'm in has a Halloween party, and I don't want to be the only guy without a costume again.

Here's what I've considered so far, and the bonuses and problems associated with it:

      Fantasy warrior:
      -Warriors are cool
-My roommate has training swords that I could use for the costume
-Armor would cost money, and I'm poor

      Doctor Who
-A friend is getting me a Sonic Screwdriver toy, so I'll have a good prop for the costume
-I'm not nearly thin enough to pull off Doctor Who

      Wizard
-I can put on my robe and wizard hat
-I'd have to buy a robe and wizard hat
-I'm not sure if I could walk around campus with a staff... and how can you be a wizard without a staff?!
-I don't want to look like a Harry Potter fanboy

I'm open to other ideas, too. I really like the wizard idea, but the staff could be an issue here on campus.

I haven't posted a journal in... a very long time.

I still pop in occasionally, but I don't come to RT nearly as often as I used to. There was a time when I'd be here for several hours a day, now I just pop in and check my alerts once or twice a week. College life is a busy life.

So, did anyone else make it out to Passion 2010? I figure that with more than twenty thousand people gathering in Atlanta, Georgia this week, at least one or two people from this group ought to have made it.

It's more than half over now, and I've gotta tell you it's going great. I've heard some awesome speakers in the last two days, looking to hear some more today and tomorrow. And I've met some great people from around the country. I really feel like this conference has helped me find some direction in my life. Just last night, while hanging out with my small group after the seven o'clock main session, I prayed for God to give me guidance on where my life needs to go from here. And do you know what? I think He's already answered me.

Did I tell you what happened to my old laptop? I don't believe I did. Well, the short version is, the screen fell off. The long version is, THE EFFIN' SCREEN FELL OFF!!! And so I've been needing a new laptop.

And today I finally got one! I had to wait for my financial aid residual check to come in. As soon as it did I hopped on the bus, cashed it, walked over to Best Buy, and bought me a shiny new laptop.

2.2GHz dual core pentium processor. 3Gb ram. 320Gb hard drive. WIndows 7. Ubuntu (I'm dual-booting). Oh yeah, this is my dream machine. I finally have working internet on a Windows computer, which means that I can play Guild Wars again, something I haven't done in months. And with a Linux distro dual-booted, I can now test the programs I write (few and far between as my non-class related programming projects are these days) in a cross platform environment.

      So, in conclusion... WOOO HOOO!!!

I'm not 100% sure what I'm -supposed- to be... But I know 181 is too high for being 5'4". They probably say like 140 is about as high as I should go, but I'd like to get back to 130-ish like I was when I started my current job. To think, I thought I was fat then *sigh*

So Jesis took the plunge for other people's wrong doings, that's like the judge putting his son to death in court instead of another guy going to prison for killing someone.

    • Atheist_101

So Jesus died for no reason...
And wasn't his mum born from a virgin as well?

    • Atheist_101

So he was a god in human form, was born human therefor he is/was a sinner.
Are humans these days born with the first sin thing? I ask this question because "Jesus died for the sins".

    • Atheist_101

      Wait wasn't Jesus human?

I'm sure you could verify plenty of the things in the Bible, but just because some things are right, doesn't everything is right. Question, are you one of those guys/nuts who think the bible is more accurate than, say, the science text books?

    • Atheist_101

I wish I could know what it was actually like back then... no one can really prove anything I guess.

    • Atheist_101

I can't find them right off hand, just look for them.
And yes the church would have seen it in for the long run.

    • Atheist_101

Not true, I was watching tv and these guys did a test on a group of people. They were looking at a crashed "UFO", with guards. After a day or so the guys asked the people to describe the things they saw, one woman said a guard had a beard and everyone else agreed, none of the guards had a beard.

As for why, power, the church wanted all the power. They saw in the long run that a few deaths were worth it

    • Atheist_101

I wasn't talking about the traditions of the religion(s) just the stories. And the religion would gain for stretching the truth of the matter to scare and awe people. People also have a tendency to forget things, replace, and add things to their memory. Eye witnesses aren't usually correct.

    • Atheist_101

That's kind of true, but what the bible says can also be included. the books were written by men years and years after jesus, and they stories were spread by word of mouth, and there would have been truth stretching, and mistranslations etc (you ever play that telephone game?).

    • Atheist_101

But of course God already knew that right?
"Perfect beings such as Gods cannot exist, because everyone has a different definition of perfect"

    • Atheist_101

Why would creation need to be imperfect? As I said before, God is perfect, what he sees as good would be perfect, anything less would be imperfect created by an imperfect god.

    • Atheist_101

      So God isn't perfect.

    • Atheist_101

I wanted to see what you guys thought of atheists, and what better place to ask than a Christian group? lol

But if God were perfect then everything he did would be perfect, so thus "good" means perfect, anything less would be inperfect o a being like God (man, I wish I was perfect, good grades, a girlfriend lol :P)

How's it going! Haven't talked to you in forever!!

    • Atheist_101

(Why are you in the atheist group?)
Well see that's a problem, God already new what was going to happen, how is that free will?
"God is all knowing" also says we don't have free will. But if he didn't know what we were going to do, then he is NOT all powerful/knowing. As for Adam and Eve, in the bible it says God says "It is Good". But he had to make A&E not "good" for them to eat off of the tree. It all contradicts itself.

    • Atheist_101

So, you think Adam and Eve were human, or the first things that we evolved from?
As for the literal, didn't the bible say that what the the Christian god (Yaweh?) make everything perfect. If it did, it's wrong, why would a perfec god need to make a tree that made everything go wrong? Make Eve out of Adam's rib?
      And finally Satan?

    • Atheist_101

      It's cool I enjoy a good rant :P
So, about that fruit thing, do you take it so literal (and the bible?)?
God seems kind of like a dick the way you (and everyone for that matter), why on Earth would we be sinners (aka bad) for something someone did millions (thousands if you're a creationist) of years ago? I'm not blamed for what white people did years and years ago to the African (American) people, I had no control over it, I wasn't even living then. Do you know what I mean?

    • Atheist_101

I'm not trying to be rude. And I liked yours (and everyones) answer to my question. But if God loved everyone, why would he send people to hell? Again, good answer, those kind of answers really help people who have no one.
