How y'all doin?
I figured I should make my first post in months, so I have a bunch of things to tell you!
For starters! I HAVE A DECENT job! It's on the back dock of a Salvos store, but it's got other people, it's 4 days a week, it's decent pay, and most importantly, not at the Christmas Warehouse that made me have multiple breakdowns cause of pressure.
You'll notice I said 4 days a week?
Well, I'm not wasting my 5th day. I've actually used that day to make a significant and important step in my career. I've made myself part time at my own Business, instead of doing just night work, and let me tell you, if you make time for things, they happen. Since I changed at the beginning of November, I have gotten 4 MASSIVE design pieces to work on, and 3 commissions, and all up, they make about half of what I made just last year alone. So yeah, I'm pretty happy with what I'm doing at the moment.
I am also finishing up my 3rd comic book this month. And hopefully my 4th by Christmas. It's 368 days since I released my first book for pre-order, and I'm very excited for my second book to actually go to the printers. And I'm also very excited to announce that along with @scheree I will be exhibiting at the inaugural RTXAU, with a much bigger booth, an awesome display, a competition, and a lot of books and merch!
I was also one of the Roo Teeth admins for a while this year, but I gave up my title due to wanting to focus on other things, as well as some personal reasons. I am still on the leadership team, in an advisory position though. One of my major roles is now in the preparation and technical execution of our Charity Live Stream in Sydney, hosted by the Nerd Cave in Sydney. I'm very excited to deal with the multitude of tech problems that will arise during it.
I have said goodbye to 3 family members this year as well, and I'm focusing on the positives so I can push through it, but I couldn't make a journal this year without mentioning them. My Grandfather, who passed away in September. Up until last year, he was teaching at the university he worked at, which was impressive to say the least. Squawk, my pet Lorikeet fell ill, with what we believe to be a lung infection, and she died within a week of contracting it, on Halloween night. I still look over where her cage used to be. And finally, my sister was pregnant for 6 weeks, and miscarried November 11, and even though I never met my Nephew or Niece, I still cant help but feel sad that I'll never get the chance to meet them.
All in all, it's been a year of ups and downs, but for the first time in 3 years, I have no idea what I'll be doing at this time next year. There's now too many variables.
So how y'all doin'? What have you been up to this year? What are you looking forward to next year?
