Got an Apartment!! Now We Need a Hotel for RTX still

      Hello one and all,

Thank you for all the support we received from you guys after our living situation went south. It took longer than expected but we finally got an apartment at a really nice place we had our eye on. Thanks to everyone we we able to put down the deposit! We're super excited to have our own place and now with my new job we can afford to be adults and live grown up lives, but still do the same non adult things... Like go to RTX!

Which brings me to my main point. So now that we have all our money set aside enough for 2 months rent, furniture, other living expenses we can hopefully find a way to RTX.
The main issue is the hotel right now. Once we can find somewhere to stay that's not going super expensive we can book our flights.
If anyone know someone that is looking to split a room or is willing to have 2 more people please let me know. There is the option of booking a hotel through Hotwire but that's a huge shot in the dark. We could get extremely lucky and get something close to the convention center or be screwed and be blocks away. So if we can find a place to stay that's close I'm all ears.
We really want to go but if it come down to it we will sell the tickets and hope someone else can enjoy the convention.
I appreciate all the support from you guys and here's hoping to a fun weekend at RTX 2015, fingers crossed.

      winkysmilyface,

      Redball

      10 years of Rooster Teeth!

Today marks my 10 year anniversary on this website. Granted I didn't sign up right away after discovering Red vs Blue, but for some reason I picked July 4th to sign up back in 05.
Boy Howdy have things changed since than, more so in the past few years. It's been a great journey so far. I've met a lot of people I feel closer to than the people I hang out with. I've personally changed a lot due to the website. I connected with people and opened myself up. The sponsor chat room is probably the most impactful thing that's happened over the past ten years. I was there when it first started and after the first month or so you could see a group of people constantly in there. This is where I met most of the people I am good friends with today. This also started a group which I became heavily involved in called RTAD. It was a really fun group to play games with and make dumb little podcast and play D&D. I was pretty upset when it ended but that stuff happens.
Another group I became involved in is RT SideQuest. That had been an experience that also changed my life in some way. The people involved with SQ are a huge inspiration to do things that help others. I've enjoyed making things for their charity auction and it feels good knowing that I can contribute by doing what I enjoy. RTX was by far the most exciting thing to come out of this community. It was 2 years ago on the flight to Austin when I met my girlfriend. After that we started talking more and started seeing each other after that. It's been pretty great since then. It's amazing how we've come together over the years. We've been though a lot as a community, good and bad, but we're still here. I know I say it a lot but Thank you! Every single one of you has the ability to be something amazing, as the great Shai LaBeouf once said, "DO IT!!"
I hope all of you had a good 4th and I look forward to another 10 years!

      Go Team!!

      Update 2.0

      Howdy Ya'll

Update time! So the past month has been pretty rough but we've made it through.
      TR;DR:
Had to get out of my current living situation due to a few reasons.
Job sucks, don't get paid enough to support two people, can't afford anything.
Still waiting to here about the RT Design Job.

Thanks to you guys that donated to the go fund me campaign we were able to stay afloat while not having a permanent place to live. We can't say thank you enough and I never expect the amount that was donated. It meant the world to us and it did really help.

So bigger news to come out of this is that I found a new job. The day we had to pack up and leave immediately left us beaten down, but that evening when we had the time to finally sit down I started looking for job postings. I would look most days before going to work because my hours were very random. Most of the time I wouldn't leave until 10am or later and end up getting home around 8 that evening. It was awful and it made most days unbearable. It wasn't that good of a situation for my girlfriend too because she would be home without me and would feel very uncomfortable, for good reason, being alone without me. But that evening I found a listing for a design assistant job at a place that makes those grow your own plant kits, like the venus fly traps. I got an email back a few days later and went in for an interview with the designer while her boss was out for a trade show. She spoke highly of me to her boss and the next week I had an interview with him. That also went very well and I got a call last week saying I got the job.

Since then it's been pretty good. The place is basically a giant green house inside with 3 ponds in the middle of the office, which is pretty cool. I fed the koi the other day and that was fun. The other designer I interviewed with apparently quit that morning when she knew I was coming in, so I basically sat down and started working to knowing how their stuff is set up. Luckily I know what I'm doing and I figured it out immediately. It was a very easy transition and I really like it so far. I'm currently working on these little grow your own veggie pots that will be made specifically for dollar tree. The last place I worked allowed me to make licensed products for Nestle and a few other popular brands. Sadly due to the management of everything I never had anything that would be sold in any major retailers. Fortunately my new job will have my designs in stores nation wide, so that's pretty cool. If you ever go to a craft store you might have seen their products. I'm pretty excited to see what happens working there.

The other bonus about the new job is that it's 15 minutes away and I won't have to spent $200 a month on gas or drive 600 miles a week. The major thing is that I am now a full time, salary based, graphic designer. It only took 3 years for me to get paid what I should and now I feel more like an adult. Hopefully now I can find a place to finally call my own and not struggle to afford food. The RT design job is still something I would drop everything for, but realistically I don't think that's happening anymore. I gave it my all and whomever gets it should be very proud. It's been months since I applied and over time I've grown to accept that I might not hear back from them. So for now I will go on and keep moving forward. Once I get enough saved up we will start looking for a new place to live and thanks to you guys it will be a lot easier.

As for RTX we still plan on going. I need to get final confirmation with my new boss that I can get off extra days, but if anything I will still be there the 6-9. I'm super excited to go and I can't wait to see everyone again! Now with my new job I can also afford to go and not worry about going broke. The major thing is the cost to fly to Austin in Aug is half of what it was last year. That helps a lot and should make it a better trip overall.

Anyway, you guys mean the world to us and I'm so glad that I have this in my life. My new work schedule will actually let me get home in the afternoon so I'm going to start being more active again. The past year has been rough and I've been distant because of it. From here on it will be better and I'm excite to get back into a normal routine.

      squiggly line Redball

      TL;DR
New Job, Not Broke, Planning for RTX.

      Here's what's up again

      Hello everyone,

I just wanted to say thank you for all the support I've received over the past few days. I don't know what to say. You guys did not have to do that, but @Shiyaria and I appreciate everything.

So for you that might not know, I wasn't living in the best place and it started to takes it toll on us. Things started to get worse and I knew something bad might happen to make it harder to stay. Turns out I was right and Friday morning shit went down and that force us to get out as quickly as possible. So from about 7:50 until slightly before 5 we pack up everything we had and put it in the car. It took multiple trips to my moms house to keep our things safe. It was nonstop moving and lifting things in and out of the house. At the end of the day there wasn't really much we could do. So my mom allowed us to stay for the moment. There's not a lot of room since most of our things take up the living room and garage, but for right now we have a place to sleep and feel safe.

@Crashcombs started a GoFundMe on Friday and I never imagined the amount of support from you guys. We truly don't know what we would do without you guys. I really can't say thank you enough. I know crash would be upset if I didn't at least post a link www.gofundme.com/t7q7qm5k

On the bright side I had an interview yesterday morning at a place that makes themed terrariums, sprouting kits, and other science toys. You'd probably recognize them if you ever go to a craft store of hobby shop. I would most likely be designing the packaging for their kits and doing other plant related things. They're office is super neat and the had two ponds filled with fish inside by peoples desk. I should have another interview next week to hopefully go over the position more. It's like 15 minutes away and the hours seem nicer then my 11-8 schedule now. I would save so much on gas and stop putting 600 miles a week on my car which would be nice. Other then that I'm just working and hoping things get better. I'm glad I have you guys in my life and I will always appreciate what you've done for us these past few days.

      hugs and k.....ittens,

      So here's what's up

      Howdy,

I probably should have put this out there sooner but I guess now is fine too. As most of you have noticed, I really haven't been around much or talked to many of you like I use to. That's mainly due to my work schedule and my not so great life at home. Luckily I have my girlfriend with me, but that's about it. This next part is a lot of me going over my very long and sad daily routine, so you don't have to read further if you don't want to.

So my day usually starts at 8am and I get ready to drive an hour to work. I don't hate my job most of the time. It would be better if the company was more than myself and the sales person trying to live up to sister company that has good products that people want. I try really hard to come up with ideas they want, even if I know they won't sell, but they don't understand that not every idea is a good one. The drive itself is hard because I spent 2 hours a day in the car and spend around $193 a month on gas and I don't usually get home at night until after 9pm. By that time I usually haven't eaten anything since the morning and I don't have the motivation to cook that late, so we end up buying food that's probably not the best for us. I usually don't cook anyway because I don't have a place to store fresh food. That and my dad keeps raising the rent so I end up having less money for food each month. I was hoping that moving back to Ohio with my girlfriend would be better than where she lived, but it only kept going downhill.

Obviously the whole trying to work at Rooster Teeth thing didn't go anywhere, not even a rejection letter. So that kinda sucks, I thought I had a shot since I have the experience for everything they asked for. Since I don't live there I imagine that didn't help my cause. I know the chances were very low, but I still had hope because I know I would be a perfect fit for the company. So for now it looks like I'm stuck here in this tiny little room with two peoples worth of stuff stacked to the ceiling. I'm constantly trying to find a better place to work that's closer to afford to move, but the grocery store wouldn't hire me to stock food overnight. At least the weather is starting to warm up again because it was very difficult to keep the temperature in the room above 55 all winter. That's also another hard part of my day, knowing I'm coming home to a place I don't feel comfortable. It takes a toll on my girlfriend more because I'm not always home when she is and she ends up trapped in the room. Even when I'm home we spend every waking moment in this room. I'd show photos so you could understand how small the room is but it's embarrassing. The hardest part is thinking about the possibility of having to move into a mobile home park to get away from where we're at now. The only thing that was good last year was being able to get enough money together to got to RTX. I loved that and seeing everyone again made me feel a lot better. As of right now I don't know if RTX will happen this year with the way everything is playing out. Sadly that's the only thing I had to look forward to and it might not even happen.

I would go on more about it but I had a hard enough time writing this far. Part of me just wanted to let people know what's going on and why I've been so distant. I just wanted to let you guys know I'm still here and maybe things will get better soon. This past year hasn't been super great but I'm trying. I appreciate everything you guys have done and thanks for dealing with my stupid issues. You guys are the best and I don't know what I'd do without this community.

Your helmets are fantastic. For the one we're making I'm trying to hammer out the visor. My plan was to get motorcycle visors off ebay. Do you know a better source than that? It's all I can think of. Get one, measure it, cut it down and glue it in. Maybe bolt it in so it can slide up. idk yet.

safe for the visor, not for your lungs. Wear a mask because that plastic does not smell great and it sticks around for awhile too.

That is a pretty solid plan. Thanks. I figure wood burning tool is safer, a saw might crack it. Smart.

What I do is get a visor from amazon and put it on the inside of the helmet. Then take a dry erase marker and trace the outline of the opening. After that I take my wood burning tool to melt like a half inch around the line I drew. I use my dremel to sand it smooth and try to make it just big enough to allow hot glue to build up inside to seal it. So that's how I do it now and it's worked out pretty well so far!
