It's after I'm done with my 2 month training thingermabob in Maryland so I'll at least be on the same coast, dunno how finances/work scheduling will work out but I'm definitely going to try and make it down!

Tessa, I got your Christmas postcard today!

Thank you so much! That was so very sweet of you!

(I like exclamation points: I am excited, rawr!)

And you are totally right, these postcards are entirely too awesome, and I completely want to frame it.

So for you, "what's up" is more of a greeting? because it'd feel weird to just answer with another "what's up" or "hi!" or something..

I used to really like oreos. I don't know what was wrong with me back then.

I'm constantly worried about stuff falling in the toilet. Whenever I'm at work hang my security pass on the coat hook in the cubicle, 'cause I'm not taking that risk.

      Me too!

Like having my cell phone in the back pocket of my jeans, I am so afraid that sucker is going to pop out and dive in.

You're stronger than you give yourself credit for.

Patronising as it sounds, I'm proud of you just for posting this. Being honest about something that affects you deeply runs the risk of leaving yourself vulnerable - but it's a risk worth confronting. Go you. : )

      smiley12.gif

I'm proud of me for posting it too. I was all sorts of nervous and embarrassed and anxious over it, but it was a step I needed to take in changing my lifestyle and accomplishing my goals. I can't let people go on thinking I'm this skinny little thing you can throw around, always happy, with a ridiculously cute voice to die for. I can't afford to think of myself in that way when I'm trying to change everything. Not even as an online persona.

If I can't be honest here, where else can I be honest? It all applies to my real life, one way or another. If I am bitchy here, I become bitchier in real life. If I lie about myself here (in this case, omitting the truth), then I lie TO myself in real life.

I had to strike the balance. It was hard. And I wanted to crawl under a rock and hide forever.

Hopefully this keeps me on track.

And it's going to be so difficult. I come from a family of eaters, "eat everything on your plate, Erin, you can't leave the table until that plate is clean," "here, Erin, have seconds, I know you want some, it's soooo good!" "Erin, I don't want to eat this slice of pie all by myself, will you go halves with me?"

I'm happy my family is on the other side of the country. I love them, but they are absolutely rotten to my waistline. My husband is better, I just have to make sure to ignore all the super fatty-tasty food he buys occasionally. And I have to be okay with, "I'm full now, the rest of this on my plate does not need to be in my tummy too."

Life is hard. Patootie on life.

She's a Washington local, so I'm sure she'll be a little more resilient than I would be. She found herself an Aussie boy while she studied abroad in Australia last fall and he came to the states for his study abroad in the spring. He just went back home and she has plans to move early next year.

    • Jericho941

So one of my friends is moving to Australia with the intent of getting dual citizenship.

      I am jealous. :(

      Wooo!

I don't know why made me start at the point I did. I keep thinking that it would've worked better if I started at an earlier point (when she entered the school) or a later point (after she's graduated already). A work in progress is flexible though, :P

It was odd. I stayed up the entire night and for some reason just decided to write again. It was the longest sketch I've written in years that I am actually somewhat satisfied with. I hope my dry spell is finally over.

Then again... I went to bed at like six in the morning and woke up at eight.... I think I'm going to die of exhaustion at work.

Oh wow! That quilt is sewn out of pure gorgeous! How do you not just roll yourself up in it?

I'm actually a little freaked out to use it.

(Not counting the summer months, and it being too hot for a quilt.)

I'm afraid of damaging it or spilling something on it.

I know it's supposed to get used, but gosh, I want it to last a reaaally long time. My grandma went through the hard work of embroidering her name on it so she hopes it lasts much longer than either she or I will live. So yeah. Maybe I will save it and take care of it to give to future generations of Jabberkin.

      Me too!

I love the craft sales after St. Patrick's Day. I can get all sorts of neat stuff with Erin on it, among other things, and I am growing more and more fond of green now because of it. (I used to hate green. Now it is my friend.)

What if I land in AUSTRALIA?!

A couple of my friends studied abroad in Australia last spring and the three of us have been bouncing around the idea of getting work visas and moving there for a year. :D
