I've succeeded with a couple people here, so it's not out of the question. i'm probably gonna just start integrating them into my comment from now on. But i do realize....im taking the role of the arbiter here....such a mission does seem suicidal.

      XD

My bad if i offended! Wasn't how I wanted that to taken. XD

after listening the a song by the turtles, the first modern version i could think of is...this!

Thats its! My new internet goal is to find a rap song you'll enjoy. THE QUEST BEGINS!

I thought as much. It's one of those "young folk" kinda music, hehe. Its just when i was 13-14 i would listen to this kinda stuff (you can here the raging hormones in it, cant ya? lol). So it was just a nostalgia trip, more than anything.

      But how about...this!

      Ouch!

How about something like "The Turtles" :-)

Oh absolutely. L4D is about that visceral "get there before we're all dead" game and that's all there is to it.

Dead Island is more like playing a basic RPG, like Borderlands with more zombies.

A lot of awesome people left the site, it reduced my friends list by about 20% over the last couple of years.
It is nice to see one come back (that is, the previous poster :-)

Yeah, I know what you mean, a bunch of people I used to be friends with have left over the years: Iratusdea, Trick Star AKA Cornish Viking, Bunker 101, K.T. Mouse and Miya Lu, among others. I later found Iratusdea and Cornish Viking on Deviant Art but they're hardly ever on there. *sigh*
Amarh and Kryptinight have thankfully returned recently though, so I'm glad of that smiley1.gif

"Is that a complaint or just an observation?"
More of a sarcastic quip. If she were an old witch then it would be a complaint. smiley4.gif

"Maybe MAD magazine had a deal with Marvel?"
Maybe it's just that the other Marvel superheroes are more well known than the DC heroes. After all, I'd never heard of Green Lantern, Black Canary or Aqua Man until the Justice League cartoons came out, but I knew all the Marvel heroes because of the Marvel Action Hour.

Did you make it to the gala opening of Harry Potter or is that saved for today? I plan on heading out with the grandkids for the 400pm showing.

We waited for the Saturday midday matinee.
It's usually pretty empty even on opening week for just about every movie we have gone to at that time.
And it was this time as well.

For RPG for me it was the "Eye of the Beholder Series".

I used to play "Rogue", "Larn" and "Hack" in characters graphics, so when Dungeon Hack came out in 3D, I thought is was great,
if it had been multi player, it would have been super great.

Then Diablo came out. That was a great multiplayer game. It even allowed you to connect PC's up by RS 232 cables if you didn't have a "real" network.

Diablo 2 lost something in replayability, but gained quite a bit to.

Baldur's Gate was another one and the multiplayer was okay.

I played Dungeon Hack only a few years ago... I'd spent a decade hearing "it's Eye of the Beholder! But it's a random dungeon, and we've never heard of Rogue because this is a totally original idea in gaming!" (or similar ideas)... the weird thing is I never properly got into Eye... either - I know it's a classic, albeit one that owes Dungeon Master slightly more than a couple of drinks as thanks.

Besides, Rogue is still awesome - it's strange how it refuses to date. Perhaps it's because it has no actual graphics to date it? I've played NetHack (again, usually starving to death - I tend to explore, take too much time... it doesn't go well!), and my mind is blown when I see all the things you can do. It makes so many other modern games seem ultra-shallow, just because you see how many factors have been considered.

And yes, Diablo did use the dungeon randomisation well (I wish that the console Baldur's Gate games had used something like that, instead of fixed layouts with non-respawning enemies), though I've never played it without hitting a fatigue point somewhere around the 20th level and going away to play other things. I've always wanted to play it multiplayer - I did a lot of null-modem gaming back in the 90s (getting Doom and Command and Conquer to work taught me a lot about how computers talk to each other...), but never with Diablo.

As for the PC version of Baldur's Gate, I have trouble seeing how it would work as a multiplayer game - the story is such a strong element of how the game is structured. Not seeing the party break apart when the Harpers and the Zhentrim start fighting each other... honestly, that was a fantastic moment!

I can actually see Icewind Dale working better - two players handling three characters each, say? I played through Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Urentide with Rob and Amber (feyd and Nudge1), and think I'd have trouble playing the game solo now - it seemed to work better as a team, and I suspect Icewind Dale would be much the same.

I tell my wife "I do software, not hardware."

The same goes for me except there is a blur line when the hardware is a laptop, kindle, iPhone,TV....but come to think about it, all those involve UI and most definitely back to being software. lol

      Heal the laptop!!

      :-)

It's an essential - I rely on that laptop for emails, web browsing, typing, spreadsheets, HTML work... I do have other PCs, though have always found splitting gaming and utility systems works the best for me.

Ultimately, I think the laptop is getting junked up - a full format and re-install will hopefully clear all the necessary cobwebs, though once again being my main use PC that will never be at a convenient time to do. For now, it is running very slowly, and has developed a habit of overheating at random things (websites with lots of JavaScript, for example - the fans come on immediately).

Oh well... I know what needs to be done next. It's just a matter of actually doing it.
