I've decided to take a leaf out of Leafshinobi7's book and consolidate all of my contributions to the "Let's Figure This Out..." thread.

BGC Timeline This BGC timeline's more up to date.
      Reconstruction Timeline (Ch.1 - 9)
      Shabobble's Theorem

I'll also post the timeline updates in this journal's comments, for convenience sake.

Check out the "Awards" section of your profile, everybody. Apparently, today's Dev Day update (Ben's late today...) is a new awards system, where leaving a certain number of posts, giving mods, etc. gives you "Milestones". Now I don't need the approval of a staff member to feel special about myself on this site!

      Bleep bloop!

Most of the new forum moderators have been added to the Rooster Teeth staff list. The General Discussion and Board Games/Tabletop Games forums are as of this post modless.

The choices make sense to me... most of the new mods are senior members of the site, with only one member below 40 karma - that member (basement forum mod) using a new account after losing the password and e-mail address for the old one. Strange, though, that she only registered the new account the day the mod nominations started. Whatever.

Congrats to the new mods. May you enjoy your days of controlling noobs and closing threads full of epic fail.

    • Fickle Mod Pts. / Moderation Nomination

I just noticed that all of my best posts in the "Let's Figure This Out" thread generally only get up to +7, while my video comments and other posts that rely solely on an untested wit get +9. What's up with that?

Also, this whole new nomination process has me a bit worried. Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon either to nominate someone or get nominated themselves. I'm not sure if everyone realizes that becoming a Mod ties you indefinitely to a forum, forever consigned to police it on a daily basis. Sure, Mod status is an awesome rank, but are you ready for this?

I'm not saying that these people are incapable. I'm just saying that they should ask themselves if they want the responsibility before they draft a nomination campaign.

    • Neg Mods

Okay, somebody just went through a journal entry I posted in (Ben's "Back in Austin" entry, to be precise) and neg modded everybody, even Burnie - and that guy almost never gets negged. And then there's the "Let's Figure This Out" thread. Apparently somebody is stalking certain users and neg modding their every post. I know that mod points are worthless in the end, but this is BS. Mass neg modding only serves to spread grief.

Thus, I submit that we need a way to either track neg mods or hold neg modders somewhat accountable. Maybe in order to leave a neg mod, you need to leave a more detailed comment than for a positive mod. That way, the site can track who is truly offended and who is just griefing - the griefers probably wouldn't bother with leaving comments, and thus would stand out from the rest of the pack.

    • Back from the Con

Whew! This year's Comic-Con was amazing! I came back home with lots of schwag and autographs. Plus, I met Jesus!

I think I visited the Rooster Teeth 5 times in total. Gus started to recognize me as the guy who kept coming back. He said he was getting worried because I hadn't returned for a whole hour smiley6.gif . I also picked up some Penny Arcade stuff and chatted it up with Gabe and Tycho. Then, towards the end of the convention, I found out that Randall Munroe (of "xkcd" fame) was attending. I dropped everything I was doing and got that signature. Randall had this tiny 1/3rd booth. It's interesting to see how small our internet celebrities are in comparison to the big wigs in Hollywood - Fox, WB, Lucasfilms...but I'm pretty sure the guys in the 1200s isle were having more fun. Maybe. As everyone started getting tired at the end of the day, a rubber band fight broke out between Randall and Penny Arcade - mostly Gabe, I think. My brother joined in and hit Gabe in the face without getting noticed. Now, is that awesome or is that sacrilege? You decide.

During my visit, I also got some information on Reconstruction's progress. Rooster Teeth is now ahead of production schedule because their work on the next PSA only took 6 hours (as opposed to the average of 40 required for Reconstruction), and they started work on Chapter 9 for next week. The PSA will come out tomorrow.

Also of note, Penny Arcade is working on getting some FF figurines out. I know I'm buying one smiley1.gif .

If anybody wants me to post pictures or sketch scans, please drop a comment. I'm too tired/lazy to upload them right now.

    • Oy! Internet Withdrawl

So, here I am at Comic-Con, in a hotel without decent Internet access. I'm typing this with a net-capable phone, but there's no substitute for a real keyboard. And, my phone's browser crashed on me mid-entry.

I stopped by Rooster Teeth's booth today, picked up a box set and some Trocadero CDs. Luke did a sketch for me, and I returned the favor by finding the name of an old Red vs. Blue episode he couldn't find (E3 2003). I'm thinking that it was a nice thing to do, but it does seem a bit nerdy. And self-important.

      Hi, y'all.

I'm in Tokyo on vacation right now. It's hot and humid, but it promises to be a fun vacation. I'll probably be away from the forums for a while, though.

Ironically, I'm typing this on a PC right now - I'm using Apple's Setup Assistant to upload all of my old files to my shiny new computer. Hopefully, with this new MBP, I can enjoy the smooth Mac OS X and run all the Windows programs I need to do cool stuff - like game development.

I doubt this is relevant to anyone, but I wanted to share my joy somewhere.

And if anyone is interested in seeing my WIP game, drop a comment.

It seems like the delay of Chapter 6 has left us all with nothing better to do than fill the Interweb with inane posts, funny as they may be. I guess it's good for my Karma, but I can't help but feel that having that dagger of judgment hanging over me controlled my posts somewhat. Then again, why do I care about the opinions of others in an anonymous setting? Maybe I'm trying to prove John Gabriel's "Greater Internet F***wad Theory" wrong.

I hope I don't fall asleep before the episode comes out. I'm supposed to be familiarizing myself with a 3D modeling system, Sketchup.

Okay, back into the series of tubes.
