      Hey guys

Updating this quickly with some changes in my life this past year and a half. It's been a rollercoaster.

I lost my dad in August to melanoma. I still don't really believe it and it's been very hard. WEAR SUNSCREEN, GUYS.

Got engaged last January to my boyfriend of (at the time) 7 years. Still no date set, not sure of I'm ready to face a traditional wedding without my dad.

Last June my sister got married!

Aaaaand, I just found out I'm having a nephew in October!

Plane tickets have been purchased, and I'll be at PAX Prime 2012. Who wants to hang?

Also, cosplay tips? I plan on doing ME2 Tali.

      It's Been a While

I'll start this by saying this is a phone post. Typos and strange auto-corrects are to be expected.

Sorry I've been so absent lately. I seriously do intend to come here more often but I've been busy lately.

Not even two days into the New Year my dad got a call from the doctor who recently pulled a mole from his back. After testing they discovered it was positive for melanoma cancer. Within the week he was back at the doctor for biopsies, this time with an oncologist. They found a rare form if skin cancer in his leg as well that isn't known for spreading and generally not a threat.

He's since then had pieces from his back and thigh operated on to remove what was there of the cancer. They told him the melanoma was stage 3b and 10mm deep; so it's a pretty severe case.

As of right now he's "cancer free" but there's a 50% chance it will come back. The surgeon said if that's the case, we'll have 6 months to a year left with him.

Monday he starts Interferon treatments, and that's supposed to help bring the 50% chance to our favor. The side effects leave a lot to desire, though. This shot basically gives you the ache of the flu, general weakness, severe shakiness, depression, and weight loss. There's no cure for cancer, so there's the possibility he could go a year taking this shot and feeling like crap, and the cancer comes back. There is also the chance that is he didn't that the shot, it would never return. You just don't know.

I dread the effects of this shot. There is, and will never be, anything more painful than seeing my hero struggling. It will be a lot to take in.

On a good note, his first grandbaby; my first niece, was born less than a month after he was diagnosed. I thank God every single night for Olivia, because she brought joy into our family in the time we needed it most.

That Skyrim is less than two months away? I'm excited like an excited person that's really excited about something, excitingly.

Fpr sure -- I think one of the reasons it was so amazing was because of the sheer amount of genuine communication that is present in the vid.

Bungie is the best biggest littlest company in the world in my opinion -- they deliver big company products, but there is a down-to-earth honesty -- even humility -- that's evident, even when their rock stars are talking to you.

      Oooooh - nice. smiley13.gif

I've looked into getting new better quality lenses for my camera. But I don't really need them. Nor would I use them to their full capacity.

I've got the 18-200mm lens, as well as a 50mm macro lens and a 10-24mm wide-angle lens from Tamron. I've thought about getting the 100-400mm L mega-zoom lens, but I don't have thousands of dollars spare for it. Unfortunately. smiley2.gif
