There was a pretty amazing range of bikes at the track when I was there on monday. KTM RC8, a few BMW S100rr's, one of which was claimed to be making 204 hp at the wheel, same guy who had that crazy BMW had a Ducati Desmosedici sitting next to it, there was a Ducati 1198 S Corse edition, one of those Aprilia RSV4's. So much fancy shit, made my dad's 998r look like a pig. He ended up passing the guy on the desmosedici though, made his day.

I'm not sure about the electronic assists, but then I'm sure they'd be super helpful if I ever got to spend some time with them. Then again, the only two things I would really ever use are probably a quick shifter, which you can work without but it's super hard on your transmission, and traction control, which I would probably only use on the lightest settings. Plus, I'm pretty sure Josh Hayes, who won the AMA superbike series last year ran the whole series without traction control on his r1. So I'm not really decided how I feel about it, plus wheelies are too much fun for me to want wheelie control.

That's odd... total wrap width was supposed to be 940px, but perhaps my developer changed it.

So I haven't really gotten to pilot it yet, but I'm the proud owner of some japanese machinery again. 2004 R1 track bike. Hopefully in a month or so I'll get to give it a proper shakedown at the track.

      Really? Huh.

Hard to imagine someone as operator as that guy would mistake something like that.

      Track day this weekend smiley0.gif

While I was taking off stuff to make it track ready I realized the people who installed my exhaust put the bolts in the tag bracket upside down. What should have taken maybe two minutes became a 30 minute battle with vice grips. GG mechanics GG.

you answered the couple of questions that I did have though, so thanks for that. If I can't find a good deal on an HDTV this christmas, I'm probably going to get something.

Yeah, I knew you mentioned having a glock, couldn't remember the model. I fired a 19 and enjoyed it, but I was wondering if the 21 felt similar. The one thing I didn't really care for on the 19 was that short grip. My hands are huge and that short grip felt really strange to me.

    • darnclem King of Dongs

hey, do you have a glock 21?

I've got a textile hypermotard jacket, but honestly because it fits a little snug its just as hot if not hotter. Plus I just like the weight of the leather. Leaving it unzipped makes in manageable, but when I'm just commuting to class I've been rocking a helmet and gloves.

Hopefully I'll have my bike pumped up to 100 horsepower in a couple of months

If I had money, all my carbon fiber would be blue, because I'd be an asshole. And I wouldn't have any money because I'd spend it all on motorcycles.

Yeah, he broke his shin bone, through the skin and everything. Looks like his traction control probably cut out on him from that video I linked, or the tires were just cold.

Don't know how closely you follow Moto GP, but Rossi crashed himself out of the championship in practice this weekend.

The World Superbike racing was insane today. I only saw the second race but it was some of the closest racing I've ever seen. You should definitely try to watch it somehow if you haven't.

      Cool. Congrats and enjoy it.

Be careful and watch out for all the idiots that you have to share the road with, and watch out for yourself. Sometimes it's hard to stay within your own limits and that can be worse that anything that shares the road with you.

Well I just did a quick search on kelly blue book and they have the bike listed at 6,565 for retail value, which I'm guessing is where those folks got their price.

Did a search on cycle trader and I think you should be able to talk them down to 6k on that one. It all depends on how their business is though. If they are adamant on that price and won't bargain ( not likely) I would atleast make them get you a jacket, helmet, gloves or whatever you need. Maybe a rear stand for changing the tire and more stable storage.

Thats cool man, I don't think I've ever seen a Honda with that paint scheme before. 2,000 miles is a sweet deal too.

If they are local definitely drop by or give them a call. They've got no bids and everyone would always rather sell local than ship.

Woah bro, so is the drive ide and you have no ide slots? Explain this man, I have never heard of IDE used for external.

According to google and maxtor/seagate, they are known to just drop IDE internal drives into an external drive case and use some sort of conversion to allow it to be plugged in through a USB slot.
