      IMPORTANT UPDATE

So either the forums aren't showing up for me or I have no goddamn idea where to find them, but regardless, I have moved all of this information to a GoogleDoc (just like what we had last year)!

You will be able to view this, but only I can edit it.

I will be keeping track of only the people that are currently part of this group, and those who I am notified are . Please let me know if you plan on going!!

I have updated the Drivers/Passengers information to the following:

You are responsible for your own ride there.

Drivers: If you are able to come and can offer people rides, please let Warpek know so she can update this Doc to reflect that.

Passengers: We do have a few people who have access to a vehicle, so if you do not have transportation, please try to contact one of the drivers who still has available seats listed. I will also try to coordinate rides for those who are unable to find one themselves, but this is not my priority and I cannot guarantee you a spot in a car. I will only update this Doc if I hear back from the driver that they are counting you as a passenger in their car.

I am so sorry for any/all confusion this creates, but it is very difficult for me to fully operate this group without the functionality that it had a week ago.

      Love and hugs,

      Guess A Sketch

Played a really cool game called Guess A Sketch today with a bunch of Rooster Speak friends, and it was hilarious fun. It's like Pictionary, Draw My Thing, or Draw Something, where you get into a game and one person draws while the others compete to guess what it is. Oh my gosh, I highly recommend you play sometime!

I didn't draw these, but I was able to snap a quick screenshot. Here were some of the memorable parts from tonight:

This one I got while it was still being drawn, so it's incomplete. The black line was about to point to that part of the figure with the words "Sound it makes" written below:
      afd6827627dd1a64e573ef391a33f68f.png

For this one, the pink/red shape is the word that needed to be guessed:

Can you guess what they are?

      Funny Coincidence

My family and I were out to dinner last night, and we were pretty chummy with the table next to us. We didn't know these people, but they were there because their daughter had just graduated high school and so we wished her congratulations. That set off a whole precedent of us talking to or commenting on the goings on of our tables. Well, they had gotten there before we had and therefore got their check before us. When they went to pay, they used a coupon, and in my dad's usual manner, joked "Hey! Where do we get one of those?" The man at the other table said "Well, you have to be part of their mailing list," then kind of snarkily added, "and, you know, be a nurse."

      We laughed.

I asked, "Wait, did you say we have to be nurses?"

The man, still laughing said, "Yeah, sorry, it's a Nurses Day thing."

A silence fell over our table and my family just dead-pan looked at the other family and almost simultaneously said,
      "We are nurses."

In disbelief, the man's wife said, "Really? I'm a nurse!"

My mom, my sister, my sister's boyfriend, and I all raised our hands and confirmed, "Uhh yeah. We all are."

Both tables erupted in laughter as we all whipped out our California RN licenses as proof.

Behind us, a girl at the table over piped up, "Wait, who's a nurse? I'm one, too!" and joined the conversation.

We all shared what departments we worked for, how long we've been RN (not long for me!), etc. for a good while.

I cannot accurately describe to you how hilarious this coincidence was to our little side of the restaurant, but it certainly made my night, at the very least.

So I've been searching on and off for an apartment since I finished school, and it's been bleak at best.
(Strap in for a mini-vent sesh, brah.)
One of the main reasons I had been looking to relocate to a different part of California or to Austin is because the cost of living here is pretty steep. Although, I do realize Austin probably isn't much better, it's still better, in my opinion. Just renting an apartment where I currently live, for instance, is a little ridiculous. How bad is it, you might ask? Well, I stumbled upon these two infographics today:

Here you can see how Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara County rent compares to California and the rest of the US:
      9bc22e6e16b8038a03c02c7d5025183e.png

Here you can see how much on average I would have to make in order to reasonably afford those places:
      77c875175ef6159a9264e47a2cd31234.png

Now, it's certainly not as bad as I'm sure it could be, and it certainly isn't as bad as some other parts of the US... But good God, as a fresh-out-of-college 23-year old, that's uhh... That's going to be interesting. I will say, however, that I am still optimistic about the future, especially since it's probably going to consist of roommates and multiple jobs. That's just more life experience, right?

      ...right?

      ...guys?

Damn it, though, I am not moving to Arkansas even though it's probably wicked affordable. Maybe Branson, Missouri. 'Cause, you know, it's obviously the greatest city ever built. smiley13.gif

      This RT Community Day...

      ...I'm stuck at work.

BUT I'm stuck at work after almost two weeks filled with good times and friends.

Friends of whom I never would have met without Rooster Teeth.

And as I am sorting through over 900 photos that I took during the course of my trip across six states, hundreds of miles, four visitor centers (fuck you, Alabama), Disney World, Universal Studios/Hogwarts, at least 6 pizzas, an entire season of Archer, three movies, approximately 51 different license plates, and a surprise trip to Mars (just to name a few!), I am humbled. I don't think I ever imagined that I would have such a large, diverse friend group to create so many memories with.

      11033156_10155282004380717_6723570386833

If you had asked me 6 1/2 years ago what sort of opportunities Rooster Teeth would have offered me, I don't think I would've been able to name even half of what I've experienced so far. And with that knowledge, I can't wait to see what the next few years hold for me.

So take a selfie in RT merch. Spend today meeting up with friends like the RT:MN crew. Sit on Rooster Speak with your fellow community members. Watch RvB in preparation for April 1st... Whatever you do, celebrate the content, friendships, and wonderful times that come from this company.

      Happy RT Community Day, everyone.

So a little over two years ago, I posted this journal saying that I was finally starting the nursing program.

Here's me on my first day of Nursing school:

      t27rXqg.jpeg

And here's me on the day of my graduation:

      10849950_10154922850620717_4185924927783

      What. A. Difference.

I look like I aged more than 2 years between those photos, and damn does it feel that way, too. Through my experiences, I've seen and done things I never thought I would. I've helped both other people in countless ways, and I've helped myself, too.

In the two months since I graduated, I've been studying on and off for the NCLEX, a national nursing licensure exam. That exam is an adaptive test, which means that if you get a question correct, it will give you a more difficult one, and if you get one wrong, you get an easier question. It also has with a multitude of different types of questions to throw at you, like multiple choice, select all that apply, dosage calculation, hot spot, audio, etc.. In order to pass, the trend of your correct answers must fall above a certain percentage, but with it being adaptive, it's not necessarily 75% like a normal, multiple-choice test. The exam could be, at most, 280 questions over 6 hours. Mine shut off after 75 questions, which took me 1 hour.

I wasn't expecting it. 75 questions is the ideal. Either you did so well, you didn't have to continue taking the exam, or you did so horribly, there was no way you could recover. With the nature of the test, however, you eventually plateau at a question difficulty where you are getting every other question wrong. So you almost never know how well or poor you're doing.

Less than 48 hours later, I was woken up at 3AM by my mom, on the phone with my sister, screaming.

      I passed.

I am now a licensed nurse.

Two or more years of schooling finally paid.off, and it's only the beginning.

Now I have to find a job. smiley13.gifsmiley13.gifsmiley13.gifsmiley13.gif

Any of You Suckas Want a LootCrate?

WINNER HAS BEEN PICKED. THANKS FOR PLAYING.

So uhh... I have two LootCrates and I only need one.

Therefore, I'm gonna raffle it off. Just comment on this journal and I'll put you into the raffle. There's no entry fee or any of that shiz. That'd be silly. Anyone can enter the raffle (US, Canada, International... Idgaf), but you will only be entered once. So none of that "I'm gonna comment a crap load and get a bunch of chances" dealios.

I'm gonna close the raffle at... umm.... 11:59 pm PST tomorrow (Thursday).

It's the December "Anniversary" LootCrate, so you know. I'm not gonna tell you what's in it in case you want it to be a surprise, too. I'll even throw in some stuff I have laying around, too. Like... uhh... This sparkly mustache sticker here. You can't see it, but it's awesome.

Anyway, good luck. I'll notify the winner via PM so we can talk logistics 'n' addresses.

      Love and hugs,

Oh, and Rooster Speak Secret Snowman wrapped up last night at our Reveal Night event! For those of you unfamiliar, it's like a secret santa exchange, but everyone saves their gifts to be opened at the same time during Reveal Night. It harbors an even greater sense of community by bringing everyone together to share in the joy of giving. BOOM. We had almost all of the participants stop by on both TeamSpeak and TinyChat, and let me tell you, a good time was had by all. For three years, I have hosted this event for Rooster Speak, and Reveal Night is my gift every year. I had the honor of being joined by almost 30 people! Here's a screenshot @Newbs took, and I don't even think that was when it was at its busiest!:
      B504u5PCcAEy0fG.png:large

Anyhow, I'm now currently stuck in a weird administrative limbo where I can't progress any further to get my nursing license because I need to wait for the Board of Registered Nursing to process my application. Which is apparently backed up significantly. So I'm enjoying a nice break while things calm the flip down in my life. And let me tell you: It's amazing. I work weekends, so my week is now completely mostly free.

If I haven't already done so individually, I wanted to take a brief moment to thank the community here for always supporting me with my educational endeavors. If you have read some of my journals in the past, it wasn't always the easiest thing, but I could always turn to Rooster Teeth or Rooster Speak for encouragement. You all are an amazing bunch, and you should never feel like you don't make a difference. At the very least, you have made a difference in my life and I am forever grateful.

      Thank you.

Hope everything is going well with you!

      Love and hugs,

I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
      She's coming in, 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you"

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless, longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become
