Guess this is as good a time as any to fire off another journal. It's been too long!
Not much has changed since my last journal. I'm still in Edinburgh, I'm still at the same job, and everything is going smoothly. I am still thinking about what I want to do after I leave this job. there are many options, but I'm leaning towards priority number one being staying in Edinburgh and seeking alternative employment. I might go into a cycling job, possibly something a bit different, or maybe inquire about joining Rockstar North as a games tester, which really would be something different.
After a couple of injuries last year, I'm finally back on my bike commuting to work. I only live a mile away from my office so I have to mix it up to keep it interesting. We've also started a Friday ride-out at work, which is proving popular. Today was the second ride and the first time I've crashed in over 5 years. I took a unfamiliar corner too quickly and a gate appeared in front of me. I slammed the brakes on, skidded the back wheel, dodged the gate and a huge mean looking rock, and skidded to a halt in a ditch. Only a few scratches and some foliage attached to my ankle, the bike was fine.
Apart from that, nearly all of my free time is spent either watching pro-cycling on Eurosport or playing zee gamez with the GGG. I've now switched predominantly to the PC and it's awesome, playing the League of Rockets, the Grounds of Battle, the Siege of Rainbow 6's, and the 5's of Auto Grand Theft.
Anywho, that's enough about me. How are you???
Edit: Oh yeah! And thanks for the comments people! You're all the best :)

Do you ever get memories that you're absolutely positive are true and accurate, but just turn out to be complete nonsense? I know this is a real phenomenon and is particularly common with childhood memories, but I just had it happen today. As in, I remember something that happened this morning that turned out to be complete and utter bollocks.
So the situation is, my little team of three people has a super secret walk-in cupboard on the other side of the office (totally not super secret) and we keep the key for said cupboard of secrets on my desk. Early this afternoon, I had to return a box of things to the cupboard that I'd taken out this morning, literally a gap of three hours, and I have a crystal clear memory of me bringing the key back to my desk, including where I held it and where I put it when I got back to my desk.
So I go to look for the key, it's not on my desk. Oh shit, where the hell did I put it?
No one else has used the cupboard today, so where have I put the sodding key?
I look on my desk, nope not there. It's not in it's normal hiding place. Did I sweep it accidentally under my keyboard? Nope.
I know, it's in my pockets! That's what I always do with it! Nope, not there. I haven't knocked it onto the floor have I? No.
*Breaks news to boss that I've lost the key.
Continue to look for it everywhere.
Boss asks, "have you left it in the door of the cupboard?" No definitely not, I definitely brought it back here.
Did I accidentally throw it away? No. Am I sure it's not in my pockets? It's not in any of my pockets.
Boss says, "you'll absolutely have left it in the door". "No I totally haven't, stop talking nonsense!".
I know! I'll have put in the box of things I have to take back to the cupboard. That's definitely it!
It's not in there. "Are you sure? Check again." Nope not in there.
Boss says, "I bet you it's in the door". "No no, we're just not looking hard enough." It must be under the desk for sure. It's not under the desk.
Boss orders me back to the cupboard to check the door.
"Well alright then, but I definitely brought it back here".
....mumbling about wasting time....
It was in the door of the cupboard.
What the hell brain?!?!?!
Cue the laughter and ridicule from my colleagues.
This has been an Andytheciderman tale of woe.

So two things happened this week, one brilliant, the other not quite so much. So let's start with the shite and get it out of the way.
It's to do with my job. My company is based in Aberdeen, but for the past year and a half I've been contracting at a company in Edinburgh and I've loved every minute. I love the city, the people, my apartment, and me job. I've always known it wasn't a permanent position, but it still came as a shock when I was told next year will be my last here. The contract will not be renewed past September 2017, there might be an option for a three month extension, but that's it.
So my time in Edinburgh may be coming to a close, I don't want it to, but I may not have a choice. Once the contract ends, it's likely that my company will need me back in Aberdeen. I've there twice in my life and I'm not to keen to move back. So this leaves me in a bit of a pickle. What are my options? Attempt to get a different job in Edinburgh? Suck it up and move back to Aberdeen? Take a break? In a way it's good that I found out this early. Now I can at least prepare myself and think, but I might leave it until after the holidays. Chat to my family about it and see what they say. Is this an opportunity in disguise? Could this be my chance to pursue other dreams? Either to go travelling for a few months, or to switch career paths to something more fulfilling. I'll give all options serious though.
So that was the crap stuff, now onto the highlight of my week, possibly my year....well it's definitely top five.
This week, @jack and @Caiti decided to grace the UK with their fabulous presence and where was their first calling point? Edinburgh! And it was my absolute pleasure to join them and the RT Scots crowd for a few bevs on Monday night. They are fantastic people, and Jack was great company for a few drinks. We even had the Celsius v Fahrenheit debate. Below are two potato quality photos of me with the big man (blame my HTC front facing camera....and Jack, he took the pictures ).

The nights have drawn in and it's cold as fuck in Edinburgh right now, and I'm sitting here, slightly bored, counting down the minutes until the working day is over and thinking we need a bit of a language change.
This refers to every person on Earth's continued misuse of the term 'Lol'.
You see, whenever anyone uses 'Lol', they're not actually 'laughing out loud', it's more of a silent 'ha!'. No one is 'lol'-ing, or 'lmfao'-ing, or even 'rofl'-ing. So I reckon we need a new acronym. Something that better reflects what's actually happening.
It's really more of a 'silent internal chuckle', or 'Sic'.
Another option is for 'mildly amusing moment', 'Mam'.
How about 'you made me laugh internally for a fraction of a second', or 'Ymmlifafoas'.....this one might be a bit of a stretch.
I don't know, what's everyone else think?
Geologist living in Edinburgh, job pays the bills, but taking a photography course and still searching for my dream job.
