Scott and Sid is a really handy guide for indie film makers or any film makers in general honestly.

It's a series of videos that follow the eponymous Scott and Sid and how they made their own indie feature film and it covers literally everything from actual production to tax advice, how to get rebates, how they raised the money to make their film and how they made their production company. They even cover how they managed distribution for the film!

It's definitely worth checking out if you know there's a gap in your knowledge you'd like to fill!

      google play:

      Apple:

      https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/scott-and-sid/id1299100618?mt=8

They're also planning to make the app into a kind of Netlix for indie films by the end of the year. They want to charge people 1 pound a month and have nothing but independent cinema on the app to stream, they already have 600 indie films signed to them for the end of the year and you can submit your own film as well!

or just like their facebook so you can see when the streaming features are up and running!

Thought it'd be something really helpful to a lot of people here, whether you're brand new to film making and want to learn the ins and outs of production for your youtube channel or a fully fledged maker looking to collect a bigger budget for you film give it a look!

    • The youngest (hopefully) Director of a national ad campaign.

As some of you know I've been at film school for 2 years and working in film for a lot longer.

For a while I've been trying to write a national ad campaign as writing and directing them is something I love doing, It's essentially making a short film to the tell a story in as little time as possible in the most creative ways. Lately I've been writing and pitching a lot, I've gotten so close to massive campaigns with all kinds of companies, always shot down at the last minute by a change in wanted strategy, or budget or simply people wanting to go with a advertising companies than mine.

But on Friday I finally got a national ad campaign green lit. I approached my universities advertising team with a two stage campaign and they loved it, and in the final meeting they've given me complete autonomy on the project to make what I want!

This makes me (potentially) the youngest person to write and direct a national ad campaign. I'm doing more research to find out for sure, but it's looking good and even if I'm not I'll still be one of the youngest in the world. I'm so excited to enter pre production on this project and start shooting in september, and hopefully this will lead me on the path to directing feature films and tv soon enough!

I'll be keeping this updated but this is such a good opportunity and I can't wait to work on more!

So after a long hiatus from the site I'm back! mostly because i had to sort out being a guardian through here. I haven't used the site in a while because i mostly just watch what rooster teeth content i can when i can on youtube, I've become a very busy person of late, expanding my film company as we start to get more work with bigger clients (such as taco bell uk) and on top of that i've started film school which combined does not give me a great deal of free time to hang out here, but yeah just a li'l update to say i'm still alive, and i look forward to meeting people at rtx uk!

    • H.P Lovecraft is da bomb

So recently last year) i started reading all the short horror stories by H.P Lovecraft. And I'm happy to announce that we'll be making a short film based on his book 'The Shadow over Innsmouth' Except ours will be called ' The Shadow Over Grimsby' ... because that's where we live. If you've never read it i highly recommend it. It's only a short read and it's lovely and creepy, like all his books the fear and horror mainly stems from the protagonists insanity and inability to decipher the mysteries of the situation he is in. Hopefull our film will be out by the end of summer! so just thought i'd update you all on that!

So I realised how shockingly neglectful I am to the rooster teeth site earlier. I love the community and all it's people, I'm simply just not active enough in it. I plan to rectify this immediately. first off just by making more journals and reading more as well.
So update on what I've been doing. I recently finished promotional videos for a local musical theatre company called 'Blaze' I'll release those publicly as soon as the client gives the thumbs up on the cuts I've made and I've sent my invoice off. I'm co-writing two new short films with my friend who's home from uni over summer, one based on a love craft novel, the other a Sci-fi of our own design, based on 'The great filter' theory. Finally I've been researching more film school shiz, which in light of the recent budget by Mr George cunt Osborne is looking more and more expensive and less likely. I will fine the funds from somewhere though, or just keep entering festivals independently and hoping for the best. until my next update good RT people.

looking for water proof camera housings for a shoot I'm doing for a short film, the prices are either £20 or £1000 with no inbetween. and half cheap reviews are "this case broke my camera". so... I may have to just buy a go pro as the median? not sure, either way I'll be keeping you updated on the short we're working on. "A Shadow over Grimsby"

Is anyone else having problems with the elgato HD60? I more then meet the system requirements but after recording for a while it just crashes at random times. Today i lost three hours of footage and the software ( game capture HD) doesn't seem to dump and footage it did get anywhere so that I can recover it. Does anyone else have these problems or know a solution? it's really annoying to have to totally restart a let's play because you can't get the same reactions you got the first time round.

thought we'd have a go at shooting a parody in gta V. We have no capture equipment other than the in built one but thought we'd try anyway, I think it turned out well.
