  • About Me

First Lieutenant, United States Army. I am serving with the Ordnance Corps in Fort Bragg, NC. I am a Platoon Leader of a Quartermaster Company. I just returned from a deployment to Joint Base Balad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the Responsible Drawdown of Forces... aka, I'm here to get all of our stuff out.

In reality I'm just here to converse with friends and have a good time.

NOTICE: If you want to be my friend, GREAT. However, your request will need to be preceded by a message giving a reason, unless you are obviously military.

My Mom flew a number of different planes from AT-6, B-24 and B-26. She and her crew towed targets, ferried bombers to jumping off places for Europe and flew damaged planes from Europe back to repair or scrap. She had a lot of amazing stories including taking a dare to fly a B-24 under the Royal Gorge Bridge (which thank God she didn't do), making a "beer" run from Sweetwater, TX to Colorado Springs in a B-24 (long story) and standing down a base commander that didn't like military women. When she died, she was placed at Arlington with my Dad. The USAF accorded her full military honors. We do have a flag which my older sister kept. Sometime, when we cross paths, I would be glad to relate many of her adventures.

The issue was that the part itself was backordered in the Chrysler system. It came down to searching for individual dealers who happened to have it in stock. And then we found one who couldn't be bothered to ship it overnight before the weekend. That's why the mechanic and I ended up doing a search through wrecking yards for a used pan. Whaddya know, we found one in the next state over and the guy shipped it out within a couple of hours. Showed up the next morning at 1100. Once again, fuck Chrysler.

I'm up in Ashburn, VA. But my time here is a grand total of 2.5 days. Kind of hard to make time for people on a short schedule like that. I fly out tomorrow.

I suspect I'll be in Smyrna, GA sometime soon - like, in the next couple of months. I'll keep you posted.

Bike, it's not so much military getting civi awards so much as awarding our civi counterparts. For example we have an AFETS team (Air Force Engineering and Technical Services) that works for the group and they deploy with us sometimes, provide a lot of really good training for our Airmen, work on integrating emerging technology into our suite, provide continuity, etc. Basically they're our own little center of excellence. Normal civi workers I don't give a shit about, but these guys are awesome so it's good we can recognize them too.

Also I'll be out that way in July. I'll probably be in the area in June too for househunting, but I haven't firmed up those dates yet.

Sorry about your shitty luck with Oakley. Usually before I hit them up, I have to have looked elsewhere on the internet for any questions I might have. I can't bash the product though. smiley8.gifsmiley13.gif

Bike, I'll hit you back as soon as I figure out how. Thanks a bunch, man. Anything we can help you with? Need a small child, perhaps? Few of those running around.

So... when am I getting that recap you promised me?

Yeah, you'll be getting that in animated .gif form, like the recaps I used to do (don't know if you ever saw them. I used to do them episode by episode during the second season) as soon as I get a copy of Photoshop. Alas, when my compy with XP died, so did my copy of Photoshop :P

I was kind of thinking about a Ram actually. Maybe a GMC Sierra. I love Jeeps and would get one in a heartbeat, but I'm way partial to the Wrangler and I don't think that would do much to solve my gear hauling issue.

Yep, it's the CG saying you're a dirtbag. Lots more likely than an A15, which takes more work for an officer.

Dude, do you know what you have to do to get a DNP OER? Probably need a GOMAR on your record.

Yeah, figured as much. I recall teasing my army counterparts about that (and vice versa) on my last deployment. My friend's O-5 was convinced I was motivated for a certain joint project because I would get capt out of it... she had to explain to him that's not how it works in the AF! (We get it at the 4-year mark, no exceptions except for lawyers/doctors.) I thought it was funny. Good on you though. I gotta say, I can't wait for Capt's pay myself... just about 2 months to go!

Uh, I don't know what tasking you may or may not know of. If you're talking about the one I asked you for a contact on... if this other thing drops I'm getting pulled off that. Times like this I wish there was a SIPR RvB. =/

Merry Christmas... and BTW, I suck like your brother, I really didn't do anything for others this year... now I am deployed, but still, I feel like a dirtbag

Nah, see your deployment nullifies any possible dirtbagness with regards to not giving gifts. smiley0.gif

(Of course, you could just send people stuff from Iraq...::shrug::)

Yes Multicam is the shit; I didn't buy a single piece of ACU crap in prep for this deployment. Our Recon guys got the Multicam uniforms and they're freakin awesome. One of our PMT from the 82nd got the other shit, and it's terrible!

      Merry Christmas to ya! smiley8.gifsmiley13.gif
