Today's vlog will be a bit of a rerun for most FIRST members but there is an announcement at the start of the video. In a nutshell, the Vlog will now be available to the public after a window on FIRST. We are also going to start producing it on a weekly basis. We plan to make a FIRST only vlog that is more of a "state of the union" for Rooster Teeth.

Thanks for the suggestion that the Monday vlog should be the one to introduce the public to the production. I agree it's a good representation.

PS there are some new shots in the Monday Vlog. I spent time with a couple more groups to get a more complete view of the company.

So the shows are still coming out pretty regularly, but most of the office has been quiet these last few days with most people taking vacation this week. There's still a skeleton crew of hard working employees making sure that the shows we recorded for this week go out on time.

How is your week before New Years going? Any plans for New Years Eve?

This week marks the end of Game Time. I recorded a bonus episode with Greg Miller a few months ago and it just came out today. The audio on it was really glitched and Andrew Blanchard worked with it on-and-off for two months before he was able to edit the video.

I loved talking to Greg. He has such a unique story with his rise to prominence on IGN, his health crisis and the incredible independent success of Kinda Funny. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Game Time was fun, but I think there's a better format for long form interviews. One of my many plans for 2017...

Last night's live podcast was a blast. I am trying to convince Patrick, Gus and Bethany to put together a show (or a night of shows) in Las Vegas some time in 2017. It would probably be 21 and up. I am curious who might be interested in that.

I love To Do Lists. I make them for everything. This week (if you start a week on Sunday) has been killer for me. It's probably the same part of my brain that likes getting achievements.

I over-list everything, that way I always feel the progress of moving forward. For instance this week I am selling my truck so instead of "Get Truck Ready To Sell" I have six different items like "Get truck title", "Clean out glove box", "check fluids in truck", etc. I feel like I have done 80 things in the last two days.

I even have a special app that gives me recurring To Do's like house stuff and creative projects like "write five pages" that way I can see how long it's been since I did those.

Just finished a long week of press interviews.  It was great to be able to talk to lots of different price agencies about Rooster Teeth, but it kind of sucked to be constantly asked about PewDiePie and his channel. I know that  it is a great public interest, but I also knew all along it was going to be just a publicity stunt. The best I can do in a situation like that is just keep my comments to the YouTube environment as a whole.

What did you guys do this week?

You've probably seen this video going around by now but I was hoping you could maybe tweet or talk about it on the podcast maybe get some more attention to the sickos in the TSA

Basically an older male TSA 'officer' molests a boy in front of his parents, they filmed the whole thing.

Hey Burnie, I know you're almost certainly way too busy to read this but I just wanted to say this anyway: thank you so much for all the inspiration and motivation you and your content has given me. I spent over a week working on a video and I put it up and I made three cents on it, and even though it's basically nothing to me it's made me the proudest I've ever been to know I can make anything from my own work, to make my first couple cents by creating my own value without being on somebody else's pay roll. I'm a long ways away from making my first dollar, but I owe you a big thank you for being one of my biggest role models. Can't thank you enough for all you do.

Hey Burnie, I'm doubtful this will reach you, but I have to try. I'm part of a podcast called the Fandom Flux Podcast. Our 'leader', Casey, started up a show with a fellow cast member Zero, introducing him to the show of RWBY. It's called Zero Interest, a name we all giggled at like children and patted ourselves on the back for. This is done by them watching the episode, and then having a discussion about the show's themes, characters, tones, etc. The show is set up like a VLOG, with both Casey and Zero being recorded in a face-cam style, their discussion broken up by bits and pieces of relevant parts from the episode they happen to be talking about.

The reason I'm writing this comment, is because one of our episodes was recently hit with a take down notice. We naturally appealed under fair use, our show is all about using the show of RWBY as a vehicle to share our opinions of your company's work, we are absolutely not re-uploading full episodes or stealing your hard work. Unfortunately, that appeal was flat out denied with no reason as to why.

We aren't a huge group, but we love what we do and we have a few dozen fans that we wouldn't trade for anything in the world. Please, if you have a few minutes, can you look into the matter, or get someone to give even a cursory glance at our work so you know we're not thieves, just fans.

I've been looking into the whole "How many senses are there, really" question.

Some of it you're right about, where under certain definitions they can all be sub-divisions of the sense of touch, but neuro-scientists have started to re-define touch and separate the individual somatic sensations and define them individually such as pressure, heat and pain. This is mostly because there are conditions in which people can feel one, or more but not the other, (someone who can feel pressure and cold, but not pain)  so that means that they are independent of each other.

They have also now included what they call interoceptive senses into the definition. These are senses that are internal in your body and don't necessarily rely on external stimuli, such as balance (the sense of your body's alignment), proprioception (the spacial awareness of your extremities) and organic sense (i.e hunger, thirst, nausea).

Proprioception is actually very interesting in and of itself. Reduction of your sense of proprioception is the reason for the walk the line and finger to nose sobriety tests. Complete loss of proprioception is the cause of what most people describe as an "out of body" experience.

The bottom line is that most scientists agree that there are at least nine senses, but there are arguments for as many as 21.  It's all in how you define things and scientists currently disagree on this issue, just like back when they were debating what defines a planet. R.I.P. Pluto

      Hello Mr. Burns,

I am sure you get this a lot from fans. A few years ago I was shown a video showing an Animated Adventure, and fell in love with Rooster Teeth. It was not long before I finally sat down and watched Red vs. Blue (I cried more times than I can count), and that was followed by RWBY, Rage Quit, listening to the podcasts, and so on. I just want to say I think you are doing a wonderful job, and how Rooster Teeth has been a wonderful discovery in my life and I look forward to the future.

Also I completely agree with you regarding your loathing of what I affectionately refer to as, "Satan's calculator," the chip readers.

      Keep up the good work!!

If you want a reason to get out of the Apple ecosystem further, as discussed on recent podcasts, Project Fi on Nexus/Pixel phones sends texts to any phone over WiFi.

It makes calls over WiFi and when you don't have wifi but you have cellular service it uses that.

The whole plan is cheap. $20 base plan plus $10 per gig of data domestic or international (same rate), and international calling rates vary but are around $0.02 a minute.

      More info: https://fi.google.com/about/ra...

Or ask Adam Kovic who uses it as well.

Hey Burnie, I left this comment on the Post Show comments, but haven't seen you post the journal on it yet.

Here is my pre-mature response to your journal:

I re-listen to the entirety of the RT podcasts annually. I always find it interesting how random things get produced from discussions on the RT podcast from years ago. I don't need to be on-site to work on this, and blog postings with topics being available through SEO results can help determine the most popular items. This can also be background stuff, and not have to change the way the podcast is uploaded or viewed.

      Hi Burnie!

I didn't know who to contact about this so I thought I would try you.. I don't want to complain as I have only recently become a sponsor but the reason for this is because of this complication. For your viewers outside of the US we are not gaining very much from becoming a sponsor as the streams are at odd times and therefore cannot be watched live (a gain of being a sponsor) which makes us watch it at the same time as non-sponsors. Also the inflation of US dollars to AUS or other dollars usually makes it a lot more expensive on our side of things especially with the introduction of the double star sponsorship, I would love to do this but at around $500 a year AUS depending on the financial market makes this venture way too expensive!

So maybe you should think about making some content for us or think about other ways you could repay us for our contributions?

Thank you for your time and I hope your company keeps flourishing as it has in the recent years.

      Rebecca

      Hey Burnie!

I just had an idea for a Million Dollars But card. It would be a "thats a lot of money" card. There would only be 2 or 3 in the whole set, and you would play it at the begginging of the round. I have thought of two different options for the card:

      1. The user get to play two answers to double his chances of winning

      2. Whoever wins the round gets two points instead of one

      Hope you like the Idea!

Figured you would see this over Twitter. On the podcast you mentioned the unboxing videos and their massive numbers where they don't necessarily equate to products being sold.

My daughter, who is 4, loves these videos. Generally, they consist of little toys being opened in the plastic easter eggs or whatever. We buy here things here or there from the videos if it's something that really sparks her interest and she can basically explain everything about that toy.

Now the views thing. I think these videos have so many views and no one really talks about them is because parents essentially use them as babysitters to get little things done around the house or whatver. Meaning if you have thousands of parents doing this everyday you can get millions of views pretty easily without any sort of commitment from the parents to really purchase anything.

The Chewbacca mask video related to so many sales because it wasn't necessarily kids watching the video quietly. It may have started as that way but parents who heard the laughing and stuff from the video thought it was funny and then shared it making it blow quicker than the "shameful" here kid watch this while I clean the kitchen kind of video (which if you've ever spent time watching some have an almost ASMR quality with soft talking and crinkly paper/foil) that parents may not want to share because they're essentially using it to pacify their kids pretty much.

I've spent a lot of time watching these videos with my daughter and trying to figure what the fuck makes them so popular. After asking a dozen or so of my parent friends and finding out they all let their kids watch the videos and we have never really discussed it more than that it's pretty much the conclusion I've drawn is that the unboxing videos feel bad because they're not "educational" at all (my daughters speech is miles ahead of kids her age and I believe it's because of the videos) while they'll share the Chewbacca video because it's cute and funny because it's a mom having more fun with the toy than her kids.

Also that mom has now been on James Corden and had a photoshoot at Facebook with a guy in a Chewbacca outfit. So, there's that too.

Sorry so much text again I've thought way too much about this

Hey Burnie, I must say that I share your hatred of retelling of superhero origin stories over and over, but I thought you might enjoy this one:

Burnie, I think I found a song that perfectly illustrates Episode 11 of The Amazing Race:

      Million Dollars But...

Wow! This is as close to being a rockstar as you may ever come. The love that this community has for you and this company that you created is astronomical. I wonder what that feels like. I've been watching the dollar amount climb and it is amazing to me the potential power that you wield. Remember with great power.....yadda yadda yadda. What's funny is that the media is always focused on people like Jobs and Zuckerberg and you haven't even registered on their radar yet.

Hey Burnie, I'm excited to hear your thoughts on the podcast about Uber and Lyft leaving Austin as I know it will affect you guys personally. Really sucks that your local legislature can't get it together! Hope you are well!

It will always be "Whoa!" in my personal opinion.

I know this question is older but I have been using a drone in lots of the vlogs.

About 3-5 times a week, depending on if I travel that week.

Exceed definitely. Outlast is a different animal. Fifteen+ seasons is very, very rare territory in any medium.

Going to answer this with a quote from a fitness magazine. I think it's a great way to look at motivation, which is not something you can control:

"Fuck motivation. it’s a fickle and and unreliable little dickfuck and isn’t worth your time.

Better to cultivate discipline than to rely on motivation. force yourself to do things. force yourself to get up out of bed and practice. Force yourself to work. Motivation is fleeting and it’s easy to rely on because it requires no concentrated effort to get. Motivation comes to you, and you don’t have to chase after it.

Discipline is reliable, motivation is fleeting. The question isn’t how to keep yourself motivated. It’s how to train yourself to work without it."

Thanks, Gus. Just keep pluggin' away. You'll get there.

I'm usually racing to hit my calorie move goal by the end of the day. I don't drink really. So I basically just browse the web. The say you aren't meant to look at screens right before falling asleep but I do it a lot.

Nah. Part of the Q&A sessions at live events are about the interaction. I know people outside the events will often criticize the question askers, but it's not their job to be entertaining. That's our responsibility. If questions get too bland, we'll just talk for 15 minutes before taking the next one.

The only thing I hate is the fake "oh is it my turn?" "is that what my voice sounds like?" performance garbage that some people do. I have warned audiences many times that once you get to that mic you are part of the show. I have no problem blasting you in front of 5000 people the same way I do to Gavin or Joel or Gus. It's how we show love. Basically, if you do something to slow down the energy in the room we will quickly move to get it back.

Ashley's cat Nutmeg loves me, but she wakes me up every single day and yells at me. We get in an argument every morning. Somehow, Ash sleeps through it.

The single hardest I have ever laughed was when I interviewed Kara for the What Do You Know show about guy movies. Her Back To The Future answers were so funny and when she said which way the car travels through time, I lost it. I literally could not stop laughing for ten minutes. They cut all of that out because my host character is meant to be supportive and deadpan, but that was just too much for me.

Nope. Vines are hard. I have lots of respect for Vine artists.

This might sound rude, but I've been trying to find a way to say this for a long time: I never open the flash drives people hand me. It's not that I don't like to review people's work, it's that I don't trust a flash drive I don't know in any of my computers. It's far better to have an online repository and just send that to me in a link. Sorry.

I also don't eat baked goods that people give us at conventions. But I do appreciate them. And Blaine eats it all.

Games is our fastest growing division. Follow Michael Hadwin on the site and/or Twitter.

Sure, I will be the guy talking about Tharsis non-stop and not knowing what The Witness is.

Walking Dead, Jessica Jones, Mr Robot

I have been working through a huge backlog of movies as well. Just watched John Wick. It was great.

Sure. Reviews don't scare me. I think I said this on a podcast after our festival run, but it's inevitable to get some bad reviews. People are brutal when talking about movies. A videogame can have parts that are broken or missing on day one and still get a 9/10. Movies don't get that same pass. I am just very happy the audience likes it. It may seem like a forgone conclusion that the RT audience would like it, but that's not at all the case. There's been plenty of shows our existing audience hated. If that had happened with Lazer Team, we would have had a big problem on our hands.

We have tested cooking in a couple of different formats. I think the people who enjoy cooking most don't really have time to pilot a new show that far off the beaten path.

Pancake podcast is this week and I am super excited.

Just keep using the site and posting awesome stuff. I saw that Awesome On Its Own was making a return and that made me very happy.

Actor -- narrative shorts and our featured productions like LT and Crunch Time

Director -- not really directing much these days, but as a Producer I will say Immersion

Writer -- Featured Productions and developing new series

Sure. We moved in the middle of last year so we had to change our setup, but I can tell her you would like to start again. I'm a little reluctant to admit that I don't play that many games anymore. In the last six months I have played FO4, some Just Cause 3 and a smattering of smaller Steam games. It's one the reasons I'm not ever on The Patch. I don't have much to talk about.

Last few years I have focused on work in front of the camera rather than behind. 2016 will put me back in the Director's chair.

    Boobs or butts?

Thankfully, I don't have to choose.

Probably the Carribean for vacation and Australia for just general travel. Once, I went down to New Zealand and rode the train from Christchurch to Greymouth. It was an amazing journey. If you go, eat the whitebait.

It depends on the job. If you mean a personality/artist job then there is no requirement. A lot of our personalities never went to university. Some didn't even graduate high school.

How old is Joe the cat now?

    | Asked by: Paul_Lee 1 year ago

Joe The Cat is about eight years old. He's getting super fat in retirement.

Matt was telling me that the box office numbers in UK were higher than in US even though it has 1/5 the population. My response was "RTUK?", he punched me.

I would love to have the US show be a traveling show the way MineCon does. But I know how radically inefficient that model is. Hopefully we can do more touring-style events like the LT screenings, Let's Play Live and Dude Soup Live.

I wish I had a better answer than "I know it when I see it" but that's really the main answer. Also, our writers have to be fast. It's just the nature of what we do.

All better. Stitches out and just stretching it every day.

There's nothing you can do about it. Some things are constant on the internet. You can't ever say what the weather is like where you are, because people will just tell you why it's worse where they are. You also can't mention an event without people being upset that you aren't coming to where they live. No one sees all the other responses and obvious jokes when they are making their single post.

I could not be happier. Watching fans all over the world have mini-meetups was absolutely mind blowing.

Ashley, depending on how nice Ashley is to me that day.
