Note: I'm aware the game is early access. Doesn't change the validity of my points.
So I spent an hour or two in Grimm Eclipse yesterday, and i thought I'd share my thoughts. (I've made it as far as the 4th wave near the Giant Gear in the Second Act, and tried out each character)
What I liked:
- Visually appealing
Its very faithful to the aesthetic of the show
Its fun, but has issues (see below)
- The sound design (mostly)
Sounded beautiful, but had some odd issues.
What I didn't like:
I'm sorry, but what we got is not worth the $15 USD price tag. (thats roughly $20 AUD. Thats enough for 2 decent finished indie games on the Xbone)
And because I've bought it early access, that means I won't have to buy the final release, correct? (I don't do Early Access games, so this is beyond me)
- The leveling system.
Not so much the system itself, but rather the fact that the level system isn't a permanent one. Its purely only for your current match, which is a poor move for a Co-Op game that has no Competitive mode (since the whole point of that style of leveling up is specifically for competitive matchmaking, hence why its so popular in MOBA-style games)
However, since I haven't finished the campaign thats currently available, I don't know if only then will it save the characters progress (which is still a poor design choice)
- Lack of Lore
So far, in the first level, only Ruby actually names one of the enemies you fight (and its kind of the current Iconic Grimm atm, a Beowolf), whereas everyone else just says a line of dialogue.
In a game like this, naming enemies is very important, since it helps encourage teamwork.
e.g. How can I communicate to my team to stop the two legged reptile like Grimm attacking the Control Center? They don't have a name revealed in show or in the game (Hell, it was only through using a wiki that I found out they are named 'Creeps', and that was from the RWBY V2 commentary), so how are non-RWBY fans going to learn about the enemy types?
Thats poor game design, since the effort isn't being taken to teach the player necessary info.
- Lack of Unlockables
So far, the only 'unlockables' are 'Mastery' abilities in the Leveling system, which require a minimum of 4 or so levels before you can use them (thats basically one full level of gameplay, assuming your playing solo).
Given the nature of the show, and the nature of the fandom, there needs to be some form of useful or interesting unlockables, like alternate outfits, permanent abilities, extra Lore info, etc.
Let me have something to show for the time I might dedicate towards playing.
- The focus on online Co-Op only.
If it wasn't for the fact that I watched a friend's stream, I wouldn't have even been aware of the fact that it was possible to play GE in a Solo way.
However, this is also more of a personal gripe, since Australian internet sucks, and I hate having games that don't need an online connection, requiring an online connection.
- The lack of rewards
Similar in nature to the lack of unlockables, there is zero reason to full explore the levels, since all Crates and Artifacts do is give you more 'Only for this game' experience.
Issues that need to be fixed/things that need to be changed or added:
- High amount of weirdly placed invisible walls.
Especially since most of these oddly paced invisible walls easily could've been fixed by moving the wall back a few steps, where it would've been perfectly nestled in an actual wall.
- Aforementioned invisible walls actively discouraging exploration.
Early misuse of Invisible walls will easily discourage most players from exploring. And considering how Artifacts and Crates give you bonus experience only, why bother looking for them?
- Reward the players
So far, I'm not really inclined to play GE unless asked to by friends, purely because there is nothing here that makes me want to play beyond completing the levels once.
There's no actual progression, nothing to work towards unlocking, no customization, etc
- Make the characters feel different when fighting as them
So far, beyond the special moves, most of team RWBY fights in a very similar manner, with only a few small differences beyond their special moves.
They do already feel slightly different, but they need to feel noticeably different, not just a different variant of the same move sets.
e.g. Make Yang a bit slower than Ruby and Blake, but make her attacks stronger, or make her normal attacks chargeable (a la the Gilgamesh weapons from DMC4).
-Move the Health UI around and make it more noticeable.
Having the health meter being in the bottom left corner (and I mean the very bottom left corner), and having it so small, makes it very easy to ignore.
The amount of times I was put into the danger state because I was too focused on the combat and couldn't see the minuscule health bar was ridiculous.
- Change the Dodge button to the Left Trigger on the controller
Left Bumper isn't a good spot for that vital button. It doesn't feel natural, and from what I could tell, the Left Trigger isn't even being used anyway.
- Character select
Either make the names a small drop down box (a la Left 4 Dead), or give the characters a proper page explaining what their strengths, weaknesses and abilities do.
Because the current Character select page is a huge waste of space.
Its got potential, but they need to change the direction away from this MOBA/L4D style of progression. It really doesn't work for what their aiming for, and honestly doesn't make sense to use for RWBY.

I know I've been gone for quite a while, but I'll try and be somewhat visible from now on.
I'm really not liking this new site. Seems way to buggy compared to the old site, and it feels really unfriendly and not easy to use (plus, I remember RT saying they'd get a better video player? If thats the case, they should go back to the old one, because the current one is even worse than the previous one, based on how long its been taking to load videos)
So, some life updates.
- @Ember and i got engaged earlier in the month
- On September 1st, Ember will be flying back to America, while I save up for Marriage and Partner visas, while potentially dealing with (finally) moving out and getting my own place/getting a place with friends.
- I've really gotten into my writing, enough so that I got a website up and running, and have pages dedicated to my very own Universe (which is still heavily under development), short stories (of both original content, and stories written within a Universe, like Destiny), as well as linking to places where I've done stuff (like eventually adding a link to all my Chupa work, or the Lets Play videos i did with @Nester82)
Please tell me what you think of my stuff :D
- My right wrist, originally believed to be either tendinitis or tendinosis, was actually looked at by a Doctor.
Only info they gave me was that its not either of those. So because I can't afford to go see the various specialists it would require to figure out whats wrong with my wrists (my left wrist is nowhere near as bad as my right, but I still need to be careful), I have to somehow balance what I can do, with what I need to do.
- I got my Gamerscore into the 211,000s, and completed a few more games since I posted my completion list. (Thank you Windows 10 for all the free games!!!!)
- Got these little cuties from @Myshu's Chupababy adoption thread. (You have until the 30th of August if you'd like one)
Penny Polendina, and Winter Schnee (I have no clue how to insert images on this new site.........)
So yeah, thats pretty much my life at the moment.
I might try and do Teamspeak again once Ember leaves, but I'm not sure.
How has everyone been?

...and we're both stumped.
"I find myself having trouble and even @DevilMayCrye is stumped.
I was trying to upload an image here on RT, but after clicking the post button, it took me to a blank page. Refreshing did no good. I tried to upload to tumblr so I could instead use an html link to post it in a journal. But then tumblr made the "post" button unclickable any time I added any image. I tried many times in firefox, chrome, and IE. On two different laptops. With the same results each time.
I've tried defragging, uninstalling/reinstalling browsers, updating them, updating flash, shutting the computer off and back on. Nothing has worked. Tried looking for ideas on google and nothing we found has worked.
This now makes it impossible to do anything with my art, which is currently my only livelihood and I'm frustrated near tears.
Does anyone have any idea what to do? Because we are completely out of ideas. (And getting a new computer, or updating the hardware is out of the question)
Anyone able to lend a hand?

Shit, its been 11 months since I last posted something O.O
I'll deal with everything else involved with that later, coz its a lot, and I need to ease myself back into the community first.
Anyway, I'm damned close to hitting 200k Gamerscore (imperfectly, due to a stupid odd numbered achievement -_-), and I'd thought it would be cool to reflect on the games I've perfected.
Also, because I'm less than 200 GS away from 200k, I'm gonna use the Devil May Cry HD collection to push me over the threshold.
Why, I here you ask? Because I didn't want to start a new game, wanted it to be a game special to me, and because I wanted to put more effort into having the game completed. (Hell, I don't even know if I'll be able to get the 200ish I need, due to how difficult its list of achievements are)
Anyway, on to the list of perfected games!
Lego Indiana Jone
Kung Fu Panda
Alone in the Dark
X-Men: The Offical Game
Clive Barker's Jericho
Dash of Destruction
Dead Rising 2: Case Zero
Assassin's Creed 2
Dead Space Ignition
Dragon Age: Origins
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
Warhammer 40k: Kill Team
Halo 3: ODST
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
A World of Keflings
The Walking Dead Season 1
Duke Nukem - Manhattan
Divinity 2 The Dragon Knight Saga
Chronicles of Msytara
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Feeding Frenzy 2
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Dead Space 2
Lego Batman 2
Dust: An Elysian Tail
Child of Light
Minecraft (not anymore, due to the title update -_-)
Dark Souls 2
The Wolf Among Us Season 1
The Walking Dead Season 2
Lego Lord of the Rings
Lego Star Wars III
Forza Horizon 2: Fast & Furious
Lego Harry Potter 2
Lego The Hobbit
Thomas was alone
Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut
Child of Light
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
The Lego Movie Videogame
Lego Marvel Super heroes
Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition
Metro 2033 Redux
Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna)
So thats a lot of games.
Once I reach the 200k mark, I'm gonna list the games I'm so damned close to perfecting, but haven't and my reasons why.

I'll be posting an update on what's been going on with me within the next few days.
Until then, since I've been seeing some of my Facebook friends finally posting about this, I thought I'd share the awesomeness that is:
Babymetal, a fusion of J-Pop and Metal. If your a fan of anime, these amazingly talented girls should easily get your interest.
Give Me Choco!!
Ijime, Dame, Zettai
Doki Doki Morning
I'd also recommend finding footage of 'Onedari Daisakusen'.
They released their first album last month, self titled 'Babymetal' (which you can buy on iTunes), and you should totally check out their "Legends I, D, Z" concerts, which are just an awesome feast for the eyes and ears.

So, I've been delving into writing (as I've said in previous journal), alternating between my personal writing Project, and writing up RWBY OCs.
As far as my writing project is going, its at roughly at 7k words, roughly 13+ separate documents of various word lengths, and my first POV character, who I accidentally gave a storyline just by naming her XD
If you'd like to see some of it, you can see it here. Why Tumblr? Some of you may ask. Because its fairly simple to use, and doesn't require any knowledge to quickly update pages, unlike a proper website (which is where I would like to get it set up, eventually.
I plan on doing some basic art for this (mainly Symbols and whatnot), so you might see me post some TCP related art.
As far as my RWBY OCs are concerned, @Ember encouraged me to join the Fanon wiki, and post them there, so that I'd actually try and develop them, instead of the paragraph I originally had for them.
Which I did, so enjoy.
Elizabeth 'Libby' Wulfe
So, tell me what y'all think :)

Because it seems to be the trend, I'm gonna attempt these resolution thingamabobs.
1) Get Ember out of her situation - I don't care what it takes, I want 2014 to be the year where I see this phrase come from Ember often: 'I had a nice, relaxing day, getting stuff I wanted done', knowing she's happy to be able to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants.
2) Meet Ember in person - Since I'm planning an America trip, I want this to happen so badly. You have no idea how badly I want to just hold her.........
3) America Trip - Hopefully, if my passport arrives in the next few days, I might make RTX. Otherwise, I might just have to settle for visiting a few friends, close to wherever Ember is XD
4) Trying to be less of a dickYeah, not gonna happen. If people say or do things that I strongly disagree with, I'm not gonna stand idly by.
(What? Were you expecting things like 'Getting fit', or 'getting a new job'? Pfffttt, If I'm gonna set a resolution, I'm gonna set believable ones for me)

How is everyone?
I'm feeling much better than when I did when I posted the Hiatus journal, so now I know that the unbearable parts are caused by the toxic environment I work in.
But Since I know I probably won't be able to change that for atleast 6 months, let's see how quickly I fall back into it ($20 I barely last 2 weeks).
My Writing Project is starting to come along, with roughly 4000 words spread out across 5 documents (with roughly 1,500 of those written within the last 2 hours I worked on them O.O).
If any of you are interested in keeping up with it, I'm posting stuff on Tumblr.
(Now, before some of you start insulting Tumblr, I'm using it because its easy/free to set up, and because I can quickly write posts on my phone for it, if I need to. Plus, I like Tumblr, so yeah)
I'm gonna try and start being more active (especially with Chupa stuff, need to do some more creating there XD), so you should start seeing more regular postings from me ^_^
So, without further ado, there are two things I want to say/ask:
1- The Xbone is still the piece of shit I thought it was.
Now, before you start defending it, hear me out, because the Australian Experience (aka, the barely functioning experience) is vastly different to the American one (the supposed awesome experience).
I literally waited 5 days, for a 2.6 gb download, whereas my 360 downloaded roughly 5 gbs of content within 2 days.
The Avatar system has only just recently started working.
Somehow, they managed to go from an easy to use Achievement system which did exactly what we wanted, to a horrible system that forces us out of the game and typically requires you to drill down to figure out what achievement you unlocked (admittedly, the tracking that the system know does, in regards to collection/time played styled achievements is cool, and the 'Challenge' achievements where you can earn in game goodies like extra skins or more XP is a cool concept, which only a few games seem to have a grasp of)
The fact that you can't access your system memory is so stupid.
The Current games available aren't even that fun (Dead Rising, a series I enjoyed for the absurdity and challenge, is now ridiculously easy, in that I could literally save everyone in one playthrough with zero effort :/) or interesting enough to make me want to play them for long periods of time (I actually had to remember I had an Xbone, because I was getting bored on my 360 and wanted to play something different XD)
The whole 'Arcade games are now worth 1000 Points' bs which has effectively broken the worth of achievements atm (seriously, most of these 'not arcade' games barely have more than 20 achievements, and theres barely any thought put into most of them).
So, my old opinion of the Xbone is still valid: Its an overly expensive Blu-Ray player (pretty much the only reason I like the Xbone, the fact it plays Blu-Rays) which is trying too hard to be a useless and outdated Media PC (to which my current out dated Media PC already does a better job, and it isn't even trying).
Seriously, what happened to gaming consoles, focusing on the key element of 'Gaming'? Please, for the love of god, don't waste your money on an Xbone yet.
Now, before you go defending the whole ' they are just trying to get a broader demographic' point of view, I ask you this question: Why bother? The people who want what the Xbox is trying to offer, typically have a PC that'll do a much better job of it, and the rest typically just want to play games.
Why is a GAMING (seriously, I can;t stress this point enough) console, focusing on being everything BUT a GAMING console?
/Xbone rant over
(Sorry, I've been watching a fair amount of Zero Punctuation and Jimquistion, which have only shown that my arguments were indeed valid ones)
2 - How was everyone's Xmas, and what are you guys planning for New Years?
Mine was pretty meh, since the people I'd have loved to spend it with live in Melbourne, Brisbane and America (aka, the Family of my Soul). But atleast I worked most of it, and got Double Time pay rates.
And I have jack shit planned for New Years, mainly because the people I want to celebrate it with are too far away, and I'll be working the day after, for Double Time Rates.
Oh yeah, forgot to say I put my passport application in, and it was accepted, so now I'm just waiting on getting it :D

First piece of news.
I'm taking a sabbatical, from RoosterTeeth and RoosterSpeak.
There's nothing wrong with the site and all you awesome peeps, its just that between work stressing me the hell out, and my social anxiety making me think up outlandish reasons for trivial things, I need time away from people in general. (And as of the 16th of December, the only people I should be dealing with is my Family, and occasional Store Employees, since I plan on taking holiday leave)
If you guys still feel the need to contact me, feel free to use the other sites I'm on. Just know that I'm tired, stressed, and probably gonna be a little snarky Okay, so I'm always a little snarky. I can't help that XD
I'm planning to comeback around January 6th, since thats when my holiday time I've put in for, will be over. So if you guys want to do anything from the 16th of Dec, to the 6th of Han, send me a msg :)
Second piece of news.
I've started up a writing project, to A) be creative in a way I know I have decent skills in, B) to get me in a regular creative mood, and C) to get some ideas out of my head, so I can free up some space XD
I'm calling it the Constant Project Yep, shit name, but my Official Awesome Namer of Things is fast asleep, so I'm stuck with that for now XD .
Its effectively a Science Fantasy Multiverse playground, where writers can add their owns stories, while I just create the universe (since I love creating universes and lore stuff, but kind of suck at adding proper stories to it XD).
I eventually plan on possibly buying a domain for it (once I figure out all the hassles associated with buying a website and such), so its easily accessible to everyone.
If anyone is interested in helping out/joining me on the Project, please feel free to msg me, either on here, Tumblr, or Facebook.
