      Well okay.
Sorry things didn't work out about the gig.

Busy -- working, doing a part-time course, looking for design/illustration work when I can, working on some ideas for a web-comic...
Enjoy your chilling-out time while you can is all I can say.

      So...
How are you keeping these days?

"I had completely forgotten about your existence"?
Nice to feel wanted. Some people get groups dedicated to them when they leave.
Still, guess I can't complain about that after the way I acted.
Good job I'm seeing my therapist later today.

So... I've been away from the site for, like, nearly a year, and I look back and think I might have been kind of harsh on you because of my own insecurities and phobia.

      I'm sorry. I mean that, I over-reacted.

It's an 07 Corvette $$. Love the thing. Unless I can get my hands on a Rickenbacker, there is no way I am buying another bass.

I'd recommend Ecstatic. Very solid album with a lot to say.

Have you heard any Mos Def? He's pretty damn fantabulous if you need to check out something new. I'd also suggest The Roots if you've somehow not heard of them as well as Cibo Matto (Miho Hatori has some great solo stuff, too... try looking up "Miho Hatori Barracuda" on YouTube).

Working on it. My band has been struggling to find a new singer and drummer for a while. Kinda critical elements for gigging.

it was mexican-made. don't have it anymore, though.

thinking of doing a collection update again soon.

Well, lurking the metal thread should help a bit. I tend to pick up a couple decent bands a month just from watching.

But I'd strongly recommend checking out Devin Townsend (pretty much anything he has done, but his latest, Addicted, is pretty badass), Baroness (Blue and Red albums) and Animals as Leaders as examples of modern, atypical metal goodness.

Also, they are one of those bands with deep cultural penetration, so if you get into them you will be hearing them a lot.

My Nepali roommate from college loved Pantera.

    • pal_sch

      In no particular order...

Gojira are hugely popular with a lot of my friends. I'm not particularly enamoured (to the level that I skipped most of their set at Bloodstock), but don't think they're bad by any standard.

Pantera are one of my girlfriends favourite metal bands. Pretty oldschool and frankly nothing astounding, but good fun and an old standby. Also, they are one of those bands with deep cultural penetration, so if you get into them you will be hearing them a lot.

I can't say much about Batio because I haven't listened to much, but what I've heard sounds decent if you like prog instrumental guitar. And who doesn't?

They're an okay band, don't get me wrong, they just go a bit too deep off the cheese end occasionally.

    • Hohenheim

They aren't bad, especially as an intro to prog. However, they tend to come across as a bit bland once you've delved deeper into the genre as a whole.

    • Hohenheim

Check a few out when you get the chance. They're some good stuff.

    • Hohenheim

Have you checked out all his albums? They're all pretty good.

    • Hohenheim

Devin Townsend, Ayreon, Angra(temple of shadows in particular), green carnation, quo vadis, alchemist, star one, lemme know what you think of those ones.

    • Hohenheim

I don't listen to much black metal nowadays. Can't help you with that. I can, however, recommend some prog if that suits your purpose at all.

I really enjoy alot of the album, but I would agree, Demon Days is still the apex of their work to me.

Not sure how much use it'd get, but I think it'd be ok for a thread.

In terms of what album is personally my favorite I'd have to say Accelerated Evolution. As for what album is the most readily accessible I'd definitely have to say Addicted, which is his latest.
