Recently I have bought Ogre 64, a little known RPG for the Nintendo 64. The reason I got it is because every single thing I've heard about this game is that its "The best game on the system and one of the best RPG's of all time" I haven't really seen anything bad said about it.
So I got really hyped for this game, once more the game mechanics is simpler too Final Fantasy tactics. This is no coincidence seeing how the team who worked on all the Ogre games also worked on Final Fantasy tactics to make a similar game.
For the first like 3-4 hours I was amazed, The story is interesting and fun, the characters are all likable. Most notably the cut scenes are just bad ass even if there are bit simple. The combat is also addicting, it focuses more on preset up of units then mid combat. Mid combat is just choosing vaguely where your attacking weakest enemy, the leader, the strongest, or just randomly.
Now each level is about an hour or so. And from what i here there are around 46 levels. Here the thing. Saves when it wants to save. So when you fuck up and want to retry, you will have to go back to redo 4-6 hours of game play. You also can reset the game by pressing start and A B together. I honestly dead both. I fucked up and got a large chunk of my army killed and I just gave up letting my main character die, which ends the game. I hoped it would restart the level. But nope it restarts to the last save. Which was 4 hours of game play lost.
So I started again and fucked up again, trying to get past a seen faster and accidentally resetting the game. Though this time I only spent around 2 hours. So not as bad. But here's the thing, though I'm kind of annoyed, I'm already ready to start over.
I'm still very early in the game so I can't really give you my final thought, but so far I am deeply in love with this game
