      Lizard

Okay, so I couldn't get my snake this week - the guy who orders the special orders for the pet store was on vacation, and they didn't get my cage in, so it'll be next week.

Today, I caught what I believe is a Sceloporus magister, or a desert horned lizard. This dude is pretty strong and pretty badass - he already ate 6 of my crickets. I think I might get one more small cage to keep him in - don't tell my landlord.

      Women

Okay, so this isn't actually a rant about women in general, just my paranoid girlfriend. And by paranoid, I don't mean she's constantly calling me to make sure I'm not with other women. That's largely because she knows by now that that sort of behavior is only going to make me seek out all my female friends just to hang out with them - I guess I find jealousy amusing.

This is about her being freaked out for her cat.
Yesterday, we went to the humane society and picked up her new kitten, a 9 month old solid black male that she has named Toulouse. Now, as we were waiting, we watched a video about the spay/neuter procedure, as all animals that go through the Humane Society have that done, and they warned us about the effects over the next few days of the anesthesia, and the possibility of re-opening of the incision.
Specifically, they told us that it's quite common for the animal to have a bit of digestive irritation the first night after the procedure, and that they may have diarrhea, and if they throw up, simply take away the food and water and give it to them in the morning, and they can usually keep it down.
Now, I would think this is somewhat easy to comprehend and follow. I mean, maybe it's because I'm an engineer, but I can look at an instruction manual, and I can follow it. So when they tell me not to be freaked out that my animal is throwing up, I'm not really freaked out. Sure, I'll feel concern and be sad for it, but to actually get freaked out is kinda like being freaked out when I put my hand on a hot stove and burn myself. It happens.
So, I was not all that amused to receive a phone call at 2 AM this morning, begging me to take her and the kitten to the vet before my classes at 11. I told her that was fine, she just needed to find a vet, and went back to sleep, fairly confident that by the time I got up, the cat would be fine.
Lo and behold, it's eating and keeping it down.

Are all women like this? It seems like so many girls that I know freak out when something bad happens, when they've been warned that something bad might happen. My first year of college, I tried a different medication to treat my ADHD, and it warned on the bottle about dizziness and vertigo. Sure enough, I would nearly pass out whenever I stood up from sitting for more than a minute. It just didn't surprise me. Sure, it was inconvenient, but it warned me right on the side of the bottle, so I can't say like it was just totally unexpected.

I suppose I just don't understand some of my more insane female illogical passionate friends. If I'm in a car accident, I get out, see if anyone's hurt, try to move the cars out of the road, after taking some pictures for insurance purposes, and then try to get the situation cleared up. If my tire goes flat, I change it. My friend Tina, on the other hand, called me up to ask if I could come over because her tire was flat and she didn't know what to do. Mind you, she's not small and weak. She does tae-kwon-do and could probably kick my lazy ass. Furthermore, it's not that she didn't know how. I asked her, "so, do you not know how to change it?" and she replied "oh, I should change it?"

Is this normal, or do I just manage to find the insane ones?

      Snake, stuff

Okay, I'm going to try to find my card reader and load some pics form my camera from our ranch.

Today, I went to the pet store and the Humane Society. My gf adopted a cat, and I bought a snake. The snake I'm going to hold at the store until I get a custom sized terrarium and the cat (well, kitten) we're going to pick up on Monday because they require that they spay/neuter all the animals first. So, yeah, new pets!

Finished my first week of summer classes. It's somewhat fun, though smaller classes than I'm used to. Anyway, I'm going to try to find my card reader so I can do that stuff.

      Phoenix, Colorado

Okay, so I haven't really done anything here all week since I've finished up my finals and moved into my new place. I'm heading over there soon to get rid of the last of my crap from there, hopefully, and then I'm up to Phoenix for a day or two before I head to the land of no internet that is my family's ranch in Colorado. So, if you're in Phoenix or Colorado (somewhere close to Denver or anywhere near the 285 coming out of Denver) then tell me, and maybe we can hang out.

      Finals!

K, had a final on Friday. Kicked its ass.
Two finals tomorrow. 8 AM I'll probably screw up. 11 AM I might pull it off.
Another final next Friday. Not too worried.
Moved in mostly to the new place. Got the internet working, but freaking Cox cut my phone line installing the line, I believe. Bastards. I mean, it was working yesterday, they came today, it doesn't work.
House warming party this coming Friday evening. If you're anywhere near Tucson, send me a message, I'll give you directions.
      Later.

Okay, so I'm behind on reading journals again. Stop writing so much stuff, people!

Anyway, I have my dad's truck here in Tucson, so I can move my big stuff to the new place.
