      Embrace the Suck

I just finished 3 weeks of training for my new job as part of a security force for a military base just south of Washington DC. Today was the last day, and we only did one thing: take a dose of OC spray to the face. And let me tell you, getting maced is something I promise I'll only volunteer for once.

So now I find myself with the rest of the day off and a 6 pack of beer in my fridge. The goal today: get drunk by 10 AM, pass out on the couch watching Shaun of the Dead. I love my job, Hoo-rah.

Tonight my boss fired our best server and I witnessed a pedestrian run out in front of a car and get hit...

      I need a beer.

      "It's Official"

I'm considered a Luddite again! I deleted my facebook account. Honestly I didn't think it was a big deal until I started getting calls from friends wondering where I was, what I was doing, was I alive, etc. This really just confirms my belief that facebook is pointless. Anyone who wants to contact me has my phone number or email address (most have both) and I don't have 500 real friends...or need that many.

The kicker: a close friend of mine pointed out that it was only "official" that I wasn't on facebook anymore because of facebook. Ten bucks says FB trademarks the phrase "it's official" by 2020.

      Drunk Tanked

I should preface this journal entry with a short explanation: I have been woodworking as a hobby for about a year now and, as a means to work off excess energy, picked up relief carving last week to add some detailing to my work.

anyway...I worked 10 hours today, then came home and drank for 4 hours and now I'm looking at my guitar and my Pfeil 6mm V-gouge carving tool like a tattoo artist with a free pass...this probably won't end well.

Stayed up late tonight for the total lunar eclipse. The peak here in northern VA was just after 3 AM and it was pretty awesome. Didn't take any pictures but between NASA and the powers of Google I'm sure there are some good ones up by now. Now it's 4 AM...sleepy time...

      The Buckid List

My birthday is coming up. If I believed I was going to live to be 100 this would be the quarter life crisis...but anyway. Things I want to do before the next one:

      Leave the country
      Bungee Jump
      Skydive
      EMT certification
      Learn to salsa dance
      4-day solo camping
      Buy that damn motorcycle

I'm in a glass cage of emotion

A coworker just spent the day she should have gotten married by getting drunk and being reassured that she dodged a bullet. The moral of the story is from Men in Black. Anyone who says "it's better to have loved and lost than never loved at all" hasn't tried it.

In other news, I'm selling a gun. To buy a motorcycle. I could try to be more manly but I doubt I'd succeed.

My Name is on the Calendar

Got bored tonight and had iTunes on random (3 weeks worth of music has a lot of potential!) and Green Day came up and I realized that September ended almost a week ago. I'm not the type to keep a calendar since I get my weekly work schedule 2 days before it starts, but the song made me wonder if there were enough songs about months to make an interesting list. Sure enough, there are...and it's been done by about a dozen other people already according to google but I wanted to make my own. And I heard some interesting stuff along the way. So here goes:

January and on - See You Next Tuesday
      February Air (acoustic) - LIGHTS
The Ides of March - Iron Maiden
April Come She Will - Simon and Garfunkel
Month of May (live) - Arcade Fire
June in January - Bing Crosby and Dean Martin
4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) - Bruce Springsteen
The End of August - Yanni
Wake Me Up When September Ends - Green Day
      October Road - James Taylor
November Rain - Guns n' Roses
A Long December - Counting Crows

A few were songs I'd never heard before. James Taylor's new album sounds great as always, I need to hear more Arcade Fire because I really dug Month of May. LIGHTS sold me with her acoustic version from ustream, though I doubt I'd listen to her other stuff often. And as for See You Next Tuesday, well....I just liked their name.

      Delirium Tremens

Here's the short side of the long story. I work at a wine bar to pay the bills. I missed a date with my ex to hook up with my roommate's co-worker. I hate my job, but love the paycheck, and I'm already looking for a new job. Living where I live fucking rules. I need to quit smoking...but...I am happier than I have ever been in my life. And if the actor/actress is alive, I am still undefeated in the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon game. I guess the only thing next is to run for public office. JMC 2020!

Hey, did you hear already about tonights Monday night lunar eclipse, it is supposed to be a full eclipse of the moon, I am not totally sure when it is supposed to be visible for all of us here in the central time zone, but I think it is supposed to begin around 11pm "approx" first the moon will turn sort of orange and then go black, and it will be a long time before it comes back out again, it will be cool.

info about the eclipse can eb read here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_2010_lunar_eclipse
