I know nothing about these drives. Looking at the reviews, it seems to be a mixed bag. If it sucks, I guess you can always return it.

Yeah, I can totally see that. There's a lot of wankery on their albums in the 2000's.

Yeah, I got just about all of their stuff last week and listened through. Really liked some of it, didn't really care for a bunch of it (a lot of their later stuff), but overall pretty solid group.

Yesterday we talked about logical positivism and the logical pattern for confirmation. It was that "raven" problem:
      P1: All ravens are black.
P2: We have just found Robby a black raven.
C: So, the hypothesis that ‘All ravens are black” is better confirmed than prior to the discovery of Robby.

Tomorrow we talk about Goodman's Grue problem. I'm looking over the lecture notes and I'm already lost. His lectures are amazing, but the reading is pretty complex. :(

Yeah, I haven't even finished it, and I told myself I wanted to go through it again. I love how each section is so broad, but still very specific in it's own way, like the writer is struggling so hard to seclude himself, but still being relate-able. Like this whole book is a letter to his daughter to apologize for something / he wants her to understand why he did something? Like I said, I haven't finished it, it's just what I'm speculating so far. smiley1.gif

HAHA! I'm actually almost done with it. I really like that each chapter feels like a little punch to the stomach, but at the same time, it makes me feel kinda down, which I don't like. So far, I like.

I love Turn On the Bright Lights and enjoy Antics. Everything after, meh. And I never cared for The Killers.

Eh, I've always kinda lumped Interpol, Editors, and The Killers together as the post-Joy Division trifecta. Never really thought of The National in that way to be honest.

Though to be fair, I am also not a huge fan or expert on Joy Division, so take that as you will.

I have Editors' first album, which I like quite a bit. Haven't listened to anything they've done since, though I haven't read or heard anything particularly good about them since that album either. :|

Editors are definitely closer to the likes of Interpol than The National though. The National aren't nearly as derivative of Joy Division.
