uh yeah, whoops and X-Men III

Well I guess I didn't let "you" know about that one. Actually I did comment on V in the appropriate forum page. So in liue of that then I will comment on X-Men III. I enjoyed it and felt that they fleshed out as much of the characters as they could in the time they had. Spoilers!!! Yes Cyclops died too soon and his character was underutilized, she was his girlfriend! Also yes I felt that the return of Xavier cheapened a movie that until then I was applauding for really letting characters grow and change in, but it fits in the comic idiom. No I didn't feel the Juggernaut quote fit the movie, actually neither did McCoy saying his famous line. But that may have been reverse nerd thinking. I knew those things were just blatant homages to outside refrences that were not organic to the universe of the movie. I am getting to pretentious it must be time for bed. Good night.

      Need a suggestion

I have started like five games and none of them has grabbed my attention. I cannot seem to find a game that is worth giving my time for. Can anyone suggest a game that would be worth my time? I tend to like RPGs and shooters, some action, no sports. Except racing where you can attack the other competitors, and a little snowboarding. Please help.

Also I am going to try and see V for Vendetta this afternoon. If it isn't too crowded. I'll let you know how it goes. Whoever you may be.

Still alive, still working 60-70- hrs a week. this leaves little time to comment or even surf. but no sob stories here. I did find time to beat God of War, I just don't quite buy the story. Why would he be such a beast but be so torn by the death of his family? It is not implausible it just needs to be established in the beginning that he has a close connection to them. The hugging thing during the final battle helped. The way they animated it makes it look like he really does care and that he leaves them reluctantly to return to battle. It helps but doesn't quite do it completely.

      Been Awhile

Well, since it has been some time since I posted I figured I'd update whoever reads these things. They moved our schedule so we work twelve hours a day six days a week. More money, less free time. Today was the first time I went to the gym in like two weeks. They were hoping that by bringing us in while the other shift is still there that we would have better communication on the vehicles being worked on and less mistakes. This has yet to happen but now that we individual workers are seeing that we are making an effort to talk to the departing shift to find out what has to be done on the vehicles.
This little muscular guy Rob wrestled the giant, 260+ lbs Barry and submitted him last week. This is mostly because Barry, a college wrestler, was trying to pin Rob, and succeded multiple times. So Barry finally went for a rematch on Friday. He tapped Rob and Rob was pissed. He kept saying that it wasn't fair and Barry attacked when he wasn't ready. I saw Barry approach and he said, "It's on" and slowly came at Rob.
What I found most interesting was that after they wrestled I felt the adrenaline draining out of me that I hadn't realized had built up as I watched. I tried to coach Rob but he wouldn't listen and also hasn't wrestled since he lost his two matches in high school. It has been way too long since I grappled and now I am jonesing for it badly. I intend to roll with Barry some time but I know this is not the best thing to do at work. If we broke something, either of our bodies or company equipment, we would probably be done. I don't think this will stop me for much longer.

      Bum

The night that they sent us home early my friend Dan and I went to my apartment because he didn't want to go home and fall asleep and mess up his sleep schedule, and he didn't want to wake up his family. We played Halo2 until 5am or so then we left to take him home. As we were getting into my car a guy came out and started waving at us. I rolled down my window and he told me his daughter had gone to bed hungry and that she woke up crying because she was so hungry. He said he had been to the food bank but couldn't get anything and asked for some money or something for her. I didn't know what I wanted to do so I told him I would be back in a minute, he had told me he lived right next to my apartment building.
After I dropped my friend off I bought some food and brought it back, I found the man standing in front of his apartment and I called him over. He walked up with a glass of beer in his hand and a roll-your-own cigarette in his mouth. This pissed me off. Mostly I guess because it supported my idea that he was mostly full of shit and I was being taken in. I gave him the food then asked his name, I shook his hand and left. As I handed him the food he took it but didn't really react. It kind of seemed like he was accepting but not excited or happy. I don't know.
I hate the idea of being used but I couldn't walk away from someone who might have a starving child. I feel that giving food was the best way to try and make some kind of difference without supporting a negative cycle. It still annoys me but at the same time seems to have been the best solution. Now though I worry that he will keep bothering me for stuff because he knows I live nearby. I won't give him anything else though, no matter what the story.
If anyone actually reads all of this please respond with your opinion or a similar story.

      Damn It!

They sent us home from work the other night. We are supposed to be getting 60 hrs a week but we haven't managed it yet. Now they told us not to come in tonight. At a normal job I might be happy for some extra time off but this is a contract that will end and any time lost is money I will not get. It does kind of suck being there at one in the morning or so and just standing around or doing some menial task to stay busy but I'll do it to pay the bills.
Actually it isn't that hard to stay awake because everyone is a bit punchy and we generally have a good time. There are enough goofballs there that there is always something to laugh about. Like when the material handler ran into the bay door the other night with a forklift. That was just an accident no big deal, but then she backed up and slammed into it again!
There is also one particular tard that says the wierdest shit randomly. He walked up to a group of mechanics and, as they were talking, asked; "Did you guys see that episode of Powerpuff Girls?" They all just looked at him for a minute then broke out laughing. We spent at least an hour last night regaling eachother with stories of this jackass' actions.
Well, now I have to find something to do for my exteded, i.e. regular sized, weekend.

      Invincible

in Forums > Invincible | Follow this topic

This is a comic by Robert Kirkman, it follows the trend of putting superheroes in real life situations but that is where it stops being like other comics. This book does an awsome job of balancing human drama with comedy and action.
So has anybody read it? And who thinks it is overhyped and that they know of a better book in the same vein (there is always at least one)? Actually I like getting recommendations.

      Harry Pothead

I am finally becoming a member of the Harry Potter legion. I never really felt all that drawn toward the books before, but all of my friends, even the Idaho rednecks, have read the books and are quite taken by them. I am always one to buck a trend but now that I see how devoted my friends are here in Tac, I figured I might as well give the books a try. In the end I don't want to miss something that I might enjoy just on the Ubermensch theory, sorry Niestche. I have seen the first movie fourteen times, I was payed to count heads in the theater by a company hired by Warner, I was supposed to see it twenty-eight but come on! It was pretty good, I just finished the first book a few minutes ago and it was just sort of a reminder of everything that happened in the book. My goal is to finish the books in time to watch the fourth movie before it leaves the theater. Oh well if I don't make it.
The book was fine and I am going to start on the second one. It will be a much different experience since I have not seen this movie.
So I still feel like a sell-out reading a kids book but I am allowing myself to enjoy it and am looking forward to the series when it gets a darker tone.

      The Night Shift continues

Well I am adjusting to the shift. My first night was fine we stayed busy and it passed quickly. I had to get my oil changed right after the shift so I couldn't get right to sleep. Then when I got back I laid down and was starting to drift when there was a knock at the door. I thought "screw it" and wasn't going to answer but then figured I had better at least check. It was the maintenance guy to fix my sliding glass door, he checked it out and said he neeeded his drill and that it would need an hour to charge. So I got to try and sleep again for an hour and then he came back fixed the door and left. Finally I got to go to sleep. The next night was fine for a while.
We pulled drive shafts and torsion bars and I got hit things with a slide and sledge hammer until my hands had huge, torn blisters, I like hitting stuff. Then we were done and we had a few hours to got so we just milled around. Then I got sleepy.
Anyways, now I am getting the hang of things.

      Back to Work!

Well, it is the end of a fairly long holiday weekend, I volunteered for work on Saturday, and not only that but I start the night shift on Monday. This should be interesting, I am glad that I will be able to do stuff during the day if I need to and there won't be as many bosses around at night so it looks like a good deal for right now. I don't know how well I will be able to cope with the sleeping during the day thing. I have literally slept through artillery barrages so I think I will be all right but ask me again in a couple months and we'll see.
I listened to some of Carlos Mencias' standup at his web site, Da Site, and I am a bit suprised at how patriotic he is. I do not agree with how he lumps races together as far as their negative actions, though some of what he says is true. He is even more explicit than his tv show.
I looked at tvs today. I have my eye on the 55" plasma. It is excessive but how else should I play Halo 2 with the compadres? I have always wanted a good tv but was poor smiley2.gif (I still fucking hate those things). Now I can afford it so Ima gonna get one. Might just get the 42" though.

Ft. Lewis is right near where i'm from, I live right by the main gate of McChord, which is neighbored by Ft. Lewis. I knew a few soldiers from on base, including a Ranger from the battallion stationed on base. THe tacoma dome has MMA in it every few months, X fighting championship. It's not the best, but you get a few treats from time to time. Severn fights tomorrow, i think. My coach for the MMA club i am in here at CWU (i am in ellensburg now) is fighting for the WW amateur belt too.

Anyway, I have liked UFC for a while, and have tried to watch PRIDE more but i don't like the ruleset and lack of drug testing. I know it has the best fighters, but seeing something like Frye pumped full of Nubain and getting his ankles fucked up by Ken and not tapping kind of ruins good things. And trying to get my brothers, who just started because of TUF, to understand some things is a bit frustrating. One is a Chuck fanboy who actually thinks Randy is scared of him. The other is learning and absorbing as much as he can, so at least he shows promise.

probably, i did a search because i thought there was one, but i fogrot it was named very poorly, since NHB is a dated term. I ended up thinking it may have been locked or such, and i didn't feel like dredging up the old one once i found it.

Kick ass Brandon Lee photos, yo - The Crow is also my number one favourite movie. Are you looking forward to Wicked Prayer with David Boreanez and Edward Furlong? Personally, I can't wait to hold the DVD in my hands.
