Man of SteelI liked the new Superman movie. There, I said it.
Man of Steel had problems for sure, but overall I liked it and hope there will be sequels.
My big problem with the movie was the amount of destruction that Superman let happen during his battles. Those battles went on and on, and in my opinion were just there to boost the 3-D quota in the movie. I like action as much as the next guy, but I found myself rolling my eyes and wishing the fight sequences would end. I'll forgive a bit of bad movie making, but just stacking on action scenes to show off a technology, regardless of story, really makes me mad. I saw the same thing in the recent Wizard of Oz movie and it made me just as angry.

The story wasn't bad, in spite of all the 3-D punching. It was basically a combination of the Superman: Earth One comic book and Superman II the movie, with a bit of imagery from All Star Superman.
Some people have complained that this is an emo Superman, but I didn't see that. I just saw a Superman who was still dealing with what it means to have these powers and whether or not to be a hero. I thought the movie set up that conflict well and his reaction to that conflict seemed real to me.
