I fly like paper, get high like planes..I don't care what you think of M.I.A.'s song Paper Planes, but you have to admit that it is a damn catchy song. It is also connected to one of the movies I am adding to my collection next. I am in a really good mood since this past week too forever to end. I'm hinted to a couple people (film_geek and Revolution) that I would be adding some new movies (mostly Criterion DVDs) to my collection. I thought that since I feel I got some awesome deals on a bunch of the DVDs, I just had to share what I got. I also got a new laptop, but I'll save that for the last part of the journal entry. Here is the list of DVDs I got:

8 1/2
Army of Shadows
Beastie Boys Anthology
Dead Ringers
Delicatessen (great movie Revolution. I wish Criterion distributed it)
Drunken Angel
F For Fake
The Hidden Fortress
The Ice Storm
Ikiru
Insomnia
Le Cercle Rouge
Pineapple Express (not criterion obviously)
Ran
Robocop
Rules of the Game
Slacker
Stray Dog
Sukiyaki Western Django (not criterion
The Third Man (Orson Welles rules)
Traffic
The Vanishing

Some of them are not here yet cause I got all of them on Ebay. There still are several more criterion DVDs I want such as Solaris, Sansho the Bailiff, and the new Bottle Rocket criterion, but I'm content for now.

Now onto the laptop. I was looking to get a new laptop for quite some time. I had been loyal to Dell for years, but that was until I got the despicable piece of shit laptop from them about Summer 2004. I know it sounds like it lasted for awhile, but truthfully it was a piece of shit for the entire time I owned it. So when I was debating about getting a new laptop, I still looked at Dell, but they are incredibly overrated and overpriced now. I vowed to get an awesome laptop that was affordable, but somehow managed to have everything I wanted. For about 6 months, I watched a Toshiba laptop that was exclusively at Best Buy. It was on sale for 500 around the beginning of fall, but a coworker of mine recommended I wait until after Christmas for some better deals. I reluctantly agreed and waited. When the end of Christmas came, Best Buy had the same sale, but when I finally had the chance to purchase one they sold out of them. Needless to say, I was pretty upset. That was until I found a very similar model (but much more recent model) exclusively on Wal-mart.com. I know it's Wal-mart and all, but for 600 dollars it definitely seemed worth it. It came in record time for a laptop (2 days with 97 cent shipping). It's a Toshiba L305d-S5900. Here are the rough specs:

AMD Athlon 64 dual core TK-57 at 1.90 GHz
3 GB DDR2 SDRAM (expandable up to 4GB although I should never need to do that)
250GB HDD
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit (hasn't given me any trouble yet)
128MB of memory dedicated to ATI Radeon X1250 graphics
DVD-RW/CD-RW
Webcam and mic built in

I am extremely pleased with this laptop so far. I even got a bag and 4GB thumbdrive for 20 bucks extra. Now I just want a mouse and some game I wasn't able to play 3 years ago because of my stupid De** laptop (I hope you get that joke). Here are some pictures of my new toys (can't have a journal without pictures!).

Interests Comics especially Daredevil Spiderman or X-Men (Silver Age stuff). I do like some new runs like Secret War and Gray Area which came out a litlte time ago (John Romita Jr. rules). I started reading the new comic Containment from IDW at the end of the school year. I also starting reading the mini Lore from IDW. I'm mostly into the art of the comics instead of the writing although I do read the comics I buy. Playing all sorts of video games listening to all my music seeing new movies hanging out with friends partying drinking and occasionally talking to a girl make up the rest of my interests. I do play golf and basketball on occasion.
