A Man. A Hero.
He was born Michael Alan Taskinen, on July 18th 1985 at the South Salem Medical Center, in Salem Oregon. Only a few short years after his birth he was relocated to a small rural town in the north-eastern corner of Oregon. The city of Pendleton is where he spent the entirety of his childhood and adolescent years.
Some time between the ages of 4 and 6 years old, he came across, perhaps by happenstance, another young fellow by the same name, Michael Tyler Smith. There was no blood relation shared with the two Michaels, but that was not going to keep them from becoming brothers later in life. (Please refer to Chapter 9: My Child's Namesake)
The two Michaels were inseparable in their younger days, until an ill-fated second grade. Rumor has it, the two caused so much trouble while together, that Michael T's mother had to transfer him to another elementary school across town. This caused a falling out between the friends for almost five years. (please refer Chapter 8: The Lost Years)
While attending McKay Elementary School, Michael succeeded in making new friends. The young child passed through a few life phases during this time, girls, sports, compitition (other than sports), and of course the puberty talk. (please refer to Chapter 3: What Is Going On In My Underwear??)
As kids do when they grow up, Michael and his elementary school friends developed different intrests and held more of an aquaintanceship after the transfer to middle school. There he found new friends and the importance of appearance. (please refer to Chapter 4: What Do You Expect From A Middle School Initialed PMS And Also Happes To Resemble A Banana?)
Our friends Michael and Michael rejoined in high school and that moment mischief returned. There they welcomed into their embrace of friendship one Fraklin Arroyo, plus other colorful players. (Please refer to Chapter 5: Chicken Strips And Gummy Worms) Those were amazing times he told me, that is, until tragedy struck. (please refer to Chapter 10: Not My Story To Tell) This only jump started the teen's "growing up" stage, and made their bond more unbreakable.
Michael lived a long and eventful life. He will remain in the hearts he has touched until they reach their own final beat. He was a friend, a lover, a fighter, a thinker, a writer, a man and dare I say, a hero. The last words I heard leave his tongue were "Don't you screw my book up, you prick bastard." He aslo asked me to dedicate this book to mankind.
So mankind, I give you, Michael Alan Taskinen...
