I prefer Texas Underground music. And each artists to come out of Texas fall in that category because they've been around here for a while. I like to get my CD's from mom and pop shops, or out the back of the artist's trunk. The only exception is Mike Jones, he dropped the weakest CD I have ever heard. He had been promoting that for about 4-5 years down here, then brought out some garbage. And, I'm not dissing Eminem, but here in Texas, there are artists that are lyrically talented on freestyles right off the top of their head.

Besides some of the aforementioned ones (Common, MF Doom, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, etc.), my personal favorite right now is probably OneBeLo (aka OneManArmy, formerly of Binary Star). Granted, I'm just starting to learn some of the many intricacies within hip-hop/rap now, but this guy definitely has a significant amount of talent.

I really don't care for most rap but I have to say that I really like MC Solaar both in terms of lyrics and sound.

Here's an idea, go read the Music forum rules, then go be a noob somewhere else

Q: Somebody started a thread about a band I hate, and I want to tell them they suck!
A: Please don't. It's okay to disagree with someone in here, but if you can't write about it using intelligent thought and complete sentences, then don't do it at all. We don't want anyone entering threads just to stir up trouble.

So piss off and never come back. You have no clue what your talking about, you've probably never listened to rap, and your just being an arsehole.
