That's a very narrow minded thing to say. You can get into a band by a bunch of means. I discovered them through FLCL, but my favourite album is either Kool Spice or Living Field (I'm assuming you've heard them) and I actually buy their albums (I'm up to 13 or so, still going).

Now, I can understand maybe liking them ONLY because of the fact that its in the anime could be lame, but it's kind of dumb to say, "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LISTEN TO THIS BAND IF YOU DIDNT KNOW ABOUT THEM BEFORE YEAR 2000!"
True appreciation of music is not so shallow my friend.

    That's much better to hear.
The Guitar Hero thing is enough to make my blood boil.
Dragon Force was a love of mine until that fucking game.

Now preppy no name childish idiots have that shit
on their iPods right between 50 Cent and Chris Brown.

So wait, you liked Dragon Force but not anymore because they were featured in GH? By that logic you shouldn't like the pillows anymore because they were used in an anime.

Right where they belong, with the other shitty artists.

Anyway, I've been meaning to get some of their work. What would you guys recommend as good albums to get first?

Living Field, Happy Bivouac, and Please Mr. Lostman. If you can only get one, Happy Bivouac would probably be the best start, then move to other ones.

You'll find the widest selection on amazon japan.

I found out about them 2 years ago, I've never even heard of FLCL, and I generally despise Japanese rock in all of its forms.

However, I must say that The Pillows make good shit. They understand what makes good, catchy rock music. Good enough for me to have put the time and money into hunting their albums down, anyway.

More pillows news (that few people read):
Another new single announced: New Animal. I already pre-ordered my copy. the pillows played it at the concert I went to here in SF, it sounds great. Not "great" in the generic way, I mean "great" as in it sounds interesting, maybe even a bit different, but still the good ol' pillows sound.

Ok, in a desperate attempt to keep this going, I would just like to mention their newest album: Pied Piper
    51yp9V8RxRL._SL500_.jpg

It's REALLY good, a lot better than WAKE UPX3. It has songs that cover a lot of different sounds and moods. Current track favorite is "Purple Apple." It has a really awesome sound to it, with a wicked bassline.

So ya, if you have the money I would definitely recommend this album.
