We won't have time for everywhere but I'll see what I can do.

Make your suggestions here! (Links to restaurant websites appreciated!)

Oh wait one idea, is there any breweries in Austin? Specifically ones with free beer tours?

    THE SALT LICK!

That's all I care about. The Salt Lick. We could go to the fucking Salt Lick twice a day every day for all I care.

    Also, The Salt Lick.

Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with somewhat borrowing a few ideas from Rooster Feast.
I would kinda want to see the sandwich shop below the old Rooster Teeth office but I may just swing by on my own at some point.

No need to borrow, considering I did it before them. I wrote my list two years ago, after I noticed the great "Salt Lick" (delicious, delicious place!) cropping up in early DrunkTank linkdumps. Realizing I would soon be paying a visit to Austin for SXSW, I began keeping track of places mentioned on the show, to create a truly comprehensive list of RT-recommended hot food spots.

This time last year I visited many of the places RT mentioned. My mission was to dine out at only RT-reccomended eateries and post my thoughts for everyone afterwards. It was a scrumptious success and RoosterTeeth deemed my idea cool enough to chat about on the podcast. Rooster Feast came about after this.

I have a schedule ready to be released based on places at the top of my original list, factoring in reputation, cuisine, age limit, capacity, theme, etc. I am asking for your thoughts to ensure what comes about is something you want but also is in line with what RT is planning. They have asked me to hold off revealing the full schedule for this reason.

The place under the old office was Pita Pit. Definitely a possibility!

There are a couple of breweries worth visiting. Independence and Live Oak are the ones that come to mind.

Unfortunately Independence only does tours on the first Saturday of every month. Live Oak does most Saturdays, and I doubt they'd skip Memorial Day weekend.

There is also (512) but as far as I know they do not do tours.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but I worked at a brewery in Austin for 2 years, and they have great food and beer (and happy hour!!!).

I know it's not downtown but it's an easy drive on either Mopac or 183.

    I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Salt Lick is SOOOOO overrated...I mean it's good barbecue, but you can get good barbecue all over the place. Plus on Memorial Day weekend, you'll be waiting two hours to get a table.

Casino el Camino should be on anyone's list. But that's more of a Monday relaxing/unwinding sort of thing. And no, Geoff is not exaggerating (though I feel more strongly about the burgers than the hot dogs):

Can I get any texmex recs? I know San Antonio and I know a few chain names, but I'm really wanting all the people in my carpool who've never had Mexican they like to enjoy it.

Too many choices. Aside from the chain places, I don't think there's a bad texmex place in town. Most of the good ones are down south, and the two I hear most about are Curras and Guero's and they're the only two I've eaten at whose names I remember (there's a lot of others I've eaten at, but they were all Mexican Mexican, not TexMex).

I'm going to +1 the recommendation for Guero's. Their fish tacos kind of blew my mind. Plus, it's just fun to eat where part of Death Proof was filmed.

defnitely going to the salt lick on monday before heading back home to houston. went last year for 4th of july weekend and waited bout an hour and half for a table. BUT! it is most definitely worth the wait. going early since it takes about 45 minutes to get there from austin, then assuming it'll be bout 2 hours wait time, should be dining by 2 o'clock. trust me Dopp, or any other member thats going, you really dont want miss this place. if you go, i highly recommend getting the all you can eat meal. 20 bucks = all the ribs, sausage, and brisket youve ever dreamed of.... its also byob so feel to take anything you want. i seen a group of guys bring in a fucking keg. no joke.

I'd recommend Hula Hut, which is a blend of Mexican and Polynesian. It also sits on Lake Austin, so if you sit out on the docks, you have a great view. You will HAVE to call ahead. There's always a HUGE crowd. Plan to eat around 6 or so.

Does anyone recommend a nice italian restaurant? I love me some quality pasta smiley0.gif And I was going to ask if there are any nice chinese restaurants but I see Austin has 2 P.F changs. And I don't think it gets much better than that.

Joel recommended Cannoli Joe's to me for Italian food. I've only heard great things about it.

For Chinese food, Brandon mentioned Suzi's Chinese Kitchen. I have fusion, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese and Thai restaurants RT recommended too.
