Okay here's the scoop. I just ordered these speakers from amazon. I have a Laptop that has integrated sound. Will I see much of a sound quality increase if I buy some sort of external USB sound card?for example: Something like this.

Any thoughts on this setup or should i just save my money and plug the speakers into the onboard sound?

My advice is to get the speakers and plug them into the laptop (it's what I do, works fine). Wait to get the external. It might not improve the sound much.

2.1 speakers like those Logitechs should be just fine with your onboard sound chip, and you should get pretty good sound out of them.

I would only advise getting an external sound card like the Audigy NX if you're going to be using 5.1 surround speakers.

That Philips external box would not be as high quality sound as the Audigy, but would be a good inexpensive replacement if your onboard sound ever goes out.

That PCMCIA deal looks pretty cool too, if I had a free slot.

Well I'd rather just spend the money on one of the break out boxes than buying that AND the PCMCIA Audigy.
