I think it would be hilarious if RvB did a "It's a beautiful day in the Strangerhood" song...
You know, like from Mr. Rogers, except Strangerhood style :o

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this would be hilarious...

Mr. Roger may be dead, but PBS isn't. Plus the song has only 3 unique lines, so no it wouldn't be that good.

They could always make a different theme song.

According to US Supreme Court ruling, you can use any music you want, as long as:

    A. You play it yourself (You don't play it off of a karaoke CD or something)
    B. You write your own words, that are different enough from the original that it is clear it is a different song.
    C. You don't try to claim that it is the original song.

Additionally, you can cover any song in any way you want as long as you give 8 cents to the owner (not performer) of the original each time you sell a copy of it. So you could make a mix CD with 20 songs, sell it online for $10 each, and as long as you pay your $1.60 per disc to the song owners you're legally in the clear.

yeah, the song itself is only like 30 seconds long, and it only has a few lines, so i think that while the idea for a theme song is good, using Mr Roger's theme song wouldn't be that funny, cause there's not a lot to work with

Look, it's totally legal to do a parody of a song. Don't you now anything about Fair Use in copyright law?

Yeah...and I think as a theme song 3 lines would get really annoying, but if they just made a Strangerhood PSA-type thing of Mr.RJ's 'Hood, then it would hilarious.
Sam could walk in singing the parody, then feed his fish, and then go out for a walk and play chess with Dr. Chalmers before coming back and singing again
