      All Things Minecraft

What's up everyone! Sorry I wasn't around last week, I was busy with other stuff. But here I am, ready to start!

smiley9.gif The latest game in Square-Enix's Dragon Quest is looking like to be a big Minecraft rip off. Don't believe me? See for yourself:

Pretty similar. The game, called Dragon Quest Builders, revolves around the unnamed protagonist who sets out to rebuild a ruined world with his hammer. Come on Square-Enix, instead of hopping on the bandwagon, why not focus on Kingdom Hearts 3 or the Final Fantasy VII remake. Quality over quantity man.

smiley9.gif Robotics researchers have found a way to improve the performance of robots using Minecraft. An algorithm has been developed by researchers at Brown University that adds to robot planning by using "goal-based action priors". In short, these are prioritized actions that could help a robot achieve its goal, like doing the laundry or washing the dishes. Minecraft is being implemented to improve robots' "goal-based action priors". This is to help what is called "state-space explosion", which are vast arrays of choices that ultimately confuse the robot's mind. For example, a robot tasked with doing the dishes might think that setting off the smoke detector is one of the steps of its assigned tasked. You can read more here:

smiley9.gif The South Australian government announced a competition a while ago tasking children to build plans in what would become an actual national park, and the winner has been chosen! Third and fourth grade students from Linden Park Primary have designed Leafy Sea Dragon National Park. You can see the video here:

      Pretty neat. smiley0.gif

smiley9.gif In a recent interview, Mojang COO Vu Bui has teased releasing Minecraft for the Wii U or Nintendo's next-gen system-the Nintendo NX. While not explicitly stated, these are his words, "If I had my way, we'd be on everything. We want to continue to be available to all players, and that means being on new platforms because everyone uses something different". Will Nintendo ever see Minecraft on their platforms? Stay tuned for the next episode of Dragon Ball Z.

smiley9.gif Its official, Minecraft: Story Mode is a thing and Telltale is reigning the helm! Although a standalone game, the game will adhere to Minecraft logic and include voice talents such as Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, and Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman). The story revolves around four characters who form a group called The Order of Stone whom have defeated the EnderDragon. While at a convention, they discover that something is amiss, and set out to discover what's wrong. Can't wait for this, I'm excited! smiley0.gif

smiley9.gif On this week' MegaCraft, Matt and Lindsay take a look at Finn and Jake's house from Adventure Time! by Dr.Boomerang. I've really been enjoying his builds and hope to see more in the future. Nice job!

smiley9.gif On this week's Minecraft Let's Play, the boys take a break from killing dragon's and raising dinosaurs to appreciate the new July update. Just like title update 14 appreciation, the boys are tasked with filling a space with the new stuff included in the update.

That's it for this week! See you next time! smiley0.gif

      All Things Minecraft

What is up guys and gals! Hope you all had a marvelous Fourth of July weekend! If you don't celebrate the 4th of July, then I'll be more than happy to sprinkle you with freedom! smiley9.gifsmiley9.gifsmiley9.gif

      Anyhoo, let's get started!

smiley9.gif Microsoft is launching a new site that will teach the intricacies of Minecraft to schoolteachers. With this new website, teachers will be able to integrate various educational aspects like coding, geography, and art. The full site will be available in the near future.

smiley9.gif We have two new skin packs available! First is the Playstation exclusive Little Big Planet skin pack featuring Sackboy, Sackgirl, Oddsock, Toggle, Swoop, and many more! This skin pack is available to download for the typical $2.99. The second is the 2015 Minecon skin pack, which is available for all consoles and free to download! However, the skin pack will only be available until July 15 so pick yours up while you can!

smiley9.gif Speaking of Minecon, the annual convention being held in London has gone on to break the record for being the biggest event for a single video game with around 10,000 tickets being sold.

smiley9.gif Title update 25 is out now! The update isn't a big one like the horse update, but it has brought plenty of new features to the table like:

smiley14.gif World customization in terms of height of structures.

smiley15.gif New blocks such as Oak/Spruce/Birch/Jungle doors/fences/fences, iron trapdoors, inverted daylight sensors, book & quills, and stained glass.

smiley14.gif New game options which allows you to change the game mode, difficulty, time, player spawn position, ambient cave sounds, and weather without leaving the game session.

smiley9.gif Going back to Minecon, Mojang developers have announced tons of new and upcoming things for Minecraft!

smiley14.gif The Ender Dragon will be receiving an improvement, making it much tougher to kill and can be respawned by the players to fight again (I really don't see the point in fighting it again except for having multiple egg

smiley15.gif "The End" will be drastically improved with the addition of multiple islands; however, to reach the other islands the player must find "The End Gateways", which will allow the player to traverse the many floating islands.

smiley14.gif A new enemy called Shulkers will be added exclusively to "The End". Shulkers are like the bastard chest mimics in Dark Souls, they blend into the environment and wait for the player to interact with it which will then shoot a creature at the player. Pretty weenee...

smiley15.gif Probably my favorite feature is the implementation of dual-wielding! Pretty self-explanatory, you are able to carry things in both hands!

smiley14.gif A new type of arrow called "spectral arrows" will be added into the game. When in contact with an enemy, the arrow glow and provide the outline of the enemy-even through blocks. Basically a projectile form of Promethean Vision. Oh did I forget to mention that players will not be able to hide and/or recover if they are shot? Now that is pretty weenee.

smiley9.gif On this week's episode of MegaCraft, Matt and Lindsay check out the Fire Kingdom from Adventure Time! (sorry Avatar fans) submitted by Dr_Boomerang and discuss the importance of not wearing your dog as a coat. Very good build! Can't wait for the Ice Kingdom next week! If you haven't seen it yet, you should go check it out!

smiley9.gif On this week's Minecraft Let's Play, the guys are back manipulating nature in Cretaceous Park! Watch as the guys grow their pet dinosaurs to gargantuan sizes, Ryan riding Pointy 2.0, and Geoff pissing off the T-Rex! Very funny episode guys! I can't wait until the T-Rex is fully grown! Stay tuned for part 4 guys! Who will win the Tower of Pimps, the Achievement Hunters or the dinosaurs?

That's it for this week folks! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and I hope everyone has a good week. Signing off for now. smiley0.gifsmiley12.gif

      All Things Minecraft

What is up guys and gals? Let's get started!

smiley9.gif An event called Super League Gaming will take place over 80 movie theaters across 28 U.S cities. Teaming up with Entertainment Group, AMC Theaters, and Cinemark Theaters, the event will allow children ages 7-14 to bring their laptops into select theaters where they will log in to a special server which will be displayed on the big screen. Right now the event is being held in the Bay Area of California.

smiley9.gif A new program that launched this Tuesday called Server Design 1 is giving children ages 8-14 the opportunity to learn coding and programming in a fun and enjoyable manner. Alongside programming, the program also teaches kids the basics of 3D modeling. For a yearly subscription of $250, this program will give future generations of children the opportunity to learn skills that could impact the gaming industry as well as the whole technological industry as a whole. At the very least, it will give kids something to put on their resumes...

smiley9.gif I personally love video game soundtracks. They give me the opportunity to listen to my favorite video game music without actually having to play the game. There is just something special about having the Skyrim theme as your alarm clock where you get to wake up feeling like a hero everyday! Anyway, Minecraft is finally getting a physical release of its soundtrack on August 21st! Alongside the standard CD, they are also releasing a 1000-copy limited edition clear-green vinyl record which is housed in a special 3D jacket. A four track song sampler has been released as well, so you can preview it here to have a listen:

smiley9.gif On this week's MegaCraft, Matt and Lindsay take a look at the Ice Kingdom from Adventure Time! by Dr._Bommerang and talk about an unusually large amount of cake. Ray is not around, how appropriate. All jokes aside, another great build as usual! smiley0.gifsmiley12.gif

smiley9.gif Last on this week's Minecraft Let's Play, the boys take a break from their Enderdragon preparations and hop back on the dinosaur bandwagon. Watch as the lads tinker with mother nature by bringing back dangerous animals that can eat your face off on a whim and engage in dinosaur fights to the death (which PETA will definitely throw a fit over). While the T-Rex hasn't fully matured yet, we are only left wondering for part 3.

That's it for this week guys! Have a great Sunday and a fantastic week! Signing off! smiley12.gifsmiley12.gifsmiley12.gif

      All Things Minecraft

I wanted to post yesterday, but as I had accidentally closed the page with about half of my post, I raged quit and told myself I'd do it tomorrow.

First of all, Rooster Speak-headed by @Newbs-is holding an event called Rooster Rumble (maybe, name is still pending) which will feature challenges, tournaments, and/or contests and I want all of your input input on the idea.

Popular Youtuber The Diamond Minecart-or DanTDM- has made an episode based on the Jurassic World park. Pretty impressive if I may say so myself. You can check it out on his channel or here:

The U.S Department of Education has released a Minecraft-styled game that teaches children about the environment. The world is on the verge on an ecological disaster and a community has to band together to sustain itself without harming the environment. If the community fails, players will experience "server-wide perma death". How much you want to bet there is a political agenda Easter Egg-like Al Gore's An Unfortunate Truth-hidden in the game? Anyway, you can check it out here:

Speaking of the environment, James Delaney and his team BlockWorks (they were featured on the Tomorrowland MegaCraft episode), have created a city called Climate Hope City that uses zero CO2 emissions. The town features vertical farms, kinetic pavements that convert footsteps into electricity, driverless cars and green roofs. The map is available for download at Climate Hope City Planet Minecraft Page. You can check out more here:

Twitch streamer Tholar Tholarian has constructed the biggest Minecraft mosaic ever made. At 1,128,960 blocks, Tholar spent 23 weeks constructed the gargantuan mosaic of StarCraft's Kerrigan. To prove that it wasn't faked, he broadcasted the last steps. You can watch here:

The Window's HoloLens is coming out later this year, and it will feature Minecraft. For those who don't know already, Microsoft purchased Mojang solely for this-to release the game on their new hot-ticket item-and by the looks of the advertisement, the investment seems well worth it. Minecraft on the HoloLens will be compatible with the P.C version and plays like normal. While you can play it with a controller, you are able to project your world on a flat surface thus allowing you to gaze over your world as if you were a god. You can check out the E3 Demo here if you haven't seen it yet:

Reddit user lukep323 has constructed a 1:4 scale model of Chicago and its famous skyline. He built this while waiting for his assignment in the Navy. Go check it out here:

Since there was no MegaCraft last week for some reason, I'm going to skip to the Minecraft Let's Play. For this week's Let's Play, the guys are back looking for stuff to fight the Enderdragon again in Againderman Pt 2! Watch as Gavin rides a horse riding a minecart, a wolf riding a minecart, and the Kit-Kat club. Very funny let's play guys! Keep it up! I can't wait for part 2! smiley0.gifsmiley12.gif

That's it for this week guys! Remember to send me your feedback for Rooster Rumble! smiley0.gif

      All Things Minecraft

Sorry I didn't post last week, I've been extremely busy looking for a job. Here is this week's news.

A line of action figures/plushies of famous YouTubers are available in select stores as of May 22nd. The current list includes YouTubers like:

Rumors are surrounding Minecraft's latest update-Title Update 1.9-may include a left-handed feature. It is speculated to be switched out with the right hand rather than having two hands available at once. What would you guys like to see come out of this?

Mojang has just submitted Minecraft Pocket Edition's 0.11 update to Apple. The main change is the addition of skins to the game.

The first ever Video Game Hall of Fame did not include Minecraft, which is weird because it is one of the best selling games of all time and a huge impact on this generation of video games. In a nutshell, I call bullshit, but it is going to be on the list eventually. It is only a matter of time. Going off topic, what games did you want to see on the list? I personally want to see Chrono Trigger and Halo CE on the list.

These are just the finalists, not the actually inductees.

Project Wasteland is currently in development of a Minecraft mod based on Fallout 3. Once released, the player will be able to wander the Capital Wasteland and will also feature a fully functional Pip Boy. Here is a link where you can check out a short teaser:

Nintendo's new competitive painting game just got (you guessed it) a mod in Minecraft-a pretty sweet one if I may add. Sethbling-the mod's creator-didn't have a Wii U, so he just made his own version. You can check out some gameplay here:

For those who haven't seen @TedMcK626 airport, check it out now as he is planning on submitting it to MegaCraft so I encourage you to support him in his submission. He is currently asking (I think) for name ideas for the little airport shops so if you have a good name, let him know. Good luck dude! I hope your submission is featured.

For this week's MegaCraft, Matt, Trevor, and special guest Josh take a look at an amazing recreation of Isle Delfino from Super Mario Sunshine submitted by KilzXGaming. This certainly brings back memories of playing this at my friend's house when I was a kid. Very impressive and accurate build! Makes me actually want to become an Italian janitor.

For this week's Minecraft Let's Play, the lads set out to get an achievement in Againderman which involves slaying the Enderdragon. A great throwback to the first time the lads did this, but they sure as hell know what they are doing now. Highlight of the video is the story about the sex dream with a certain celebrity, not going to say who it is but if you haven't seen it yet you can find out by watching it. Stay tuned for part 2 (I'm hoping inside this takes longer so there are
      more parts).

That's it for this week folks! See you in a week! smiley0.gifsmiley12.gif

      All Things Minecraft

Happy Memorial Day everybody! I hope you all enjoyed your days off!

To start off, Minecraft Pcket Edition for mobile devices are expecting to get controller support. No more pushing the wrong buttons on that tiny-ass screen with those huge-ass thumbs.

Voxelnauts, a Minecraft-inspired VRMMO, is something you all need to look into. Voxelnauts is a game that features thousands of unique planets for the player to explore. Also, the game will be virtual reality-friendly. The game has reached $42,000 out of its $200,000 goal on Kickstarter. I'm really digging the art-style on this, so I hope this eventually becomes a thing. You guys should check it out and possible make a donation!

Mojang has got around to fixing its 1.8.4 update, which users found that they were able to remotely crash servers, has now been fixed along with other things:

[Bug MC-79632] – Phantom Custom Player in Scoreboard / UUIDs of non-player entities on scoreboards truncated after relog
[Bug MC-75630] – Exploit with signs and command blocks
[Bug MC-80478] – Better server validation for movement packets
[Bug MC-80479] – Invalid beacon effects are not validated
[Bug MC-80480] – Certain attribute values are not bound

      Mojang suggests you update ASAP.

Everyone knows that Super Mario Bros for the NES is one of the most influential games of all time. Well somebody went and made a playthrough of the entire first level of the game in Minecraft. No composites or green screens were used! Everything was made in Minecraft. Check it out here:

So some scam apps for Android devices have popped up offering "cheats" for mobile Minecraft users. A warning to you all, don't download them, they are bullshit. If you download the apps, a message will be displayed that says your phone/device is infected. Again, bullshit. These "scareware" apps cost around $5.25 and can add up to roughly $63 per year. Google Play has removed the apps, but if you have any of these apps, I suggest deleting them ASAP.

On this week's MegaCraft, Matt and Trevor take a look at Tommorwland (that movie with George Clooney in the bathtub) by BlockWorks. I haven't seen the movie and don't plan to, but this is an incredible build nonetheless. Go check it out if you haven't yet!

On this week's Minecraft Let's Play, the boys resume their shopping endeavors! Watch as Michael gets killed five seconds after entering the Nether every time, Geoff gets lost, and more Michael dying in the Nether. Still no winner yet, which means a part 3! Yay! Can't wait for the next episode!

That's it for this week! See you guys and gals and have a very happy Memorial Day! smiley12.gifsmiley12.gifsmiley12.gif

      All Things Minecraft

So I just noticed the little time tab read that the group has just turned a year old. Woo! Thanks for your support guys! You all are awesome!!! smiley0.gif

The latest Minecraft update for the Xbox One is out, which fixs various issues like:

Fixed an issue causing flying animals in a split-screen offline game.
Fixed a memory leak causing crashes after prolonged play sessions.
Fixed a problem with dropped items sinking below the ground.
Fixed an issue with TNT explosions.
Fixed a problem with baby villagers collision height.
Fixed a few issues with players joining a network game.

Another separate update for all Playstation Platforms-Title Update 1.16-is adding:

Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Title Update 1.16

      – Alex Skin along with other variations of it has been added to the default skins
      – The music tracks that was playing while in Creative Mode and on-front end-menus have been changed
      – The Simpsons Skin Pack trial content has been added
      – An issue that was stopping the Steampunk Texture Pack working has been fixed.

Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Title Update 1.16

      – Alex Skin along with other variations of it has been added to the default skins
      – The music tracks that were playing while in Creative Mode and on-front end-menus have been changed
      – The Simpsons Skin Pack trial content has been added
      – The shrubs can now be placed in flower pots.

Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Title Update 1.16

      – Alex Skin along with other variations of it has been added to the default skins
      – The music tracks that were playing while in Creative Mode and on-front end-menus have been changed
      – The Simpsons Skin Pack trial content has been added
      – The shrubs can now be placed in flower pots.

Some modders have created a Pokemon world inside of Minecraft, replacing the free-roaming animals with Pokemon that can be caught which you can then use to give commands to. Pretty neat! You can take a look here:

Here is something that @sixsixthree is working on. If you want to see more go look on her profile. It's pretty sick stuff!

On this week's Megacraft, Matt & Jeremy take a look at a UNSC fleet from Halo made by xXdarknessXx. Ships include the Infinity and the Forward Unto Dawn. Pretty amazing stuff!

Last, the Achievement Hunters are back doing something again from one of my favorite Let's Plays: Shooping List X part 1. Watch as the lads scramble for supplies to fill their board up. Sadly for us (and fortunately for them), there are no cocoa beans on the list, which wouldn't matter because cocoa beans are easier to find now. Personally, I think this list is a little bit easier than the first building-wise, as resources are bountiful with the expanded world. Nevertheless, I look forward to the next parts. Hopefully Gavin doesn't blow it again...

That's it for this week! See you all next time! smiley12.gif

      All Things Minecraft

What is up everyone! I'm here to bring you this week's Minecraft update, so let's get cracking!

If you haven't already picked these up yet, Mojang is giving away three free skin packs in celebration of Minecraft's third birthday. The free skin packs will be available until May 17 and will include the previous two birthday skin packs along with the new "Mojangstas and a few cheeky extras" skin pack. Pick them up while you still can and happy birthday Minecraft!!!

Another "swatting" incident has occurred at Missoula at The University of Montana involving 31-year-old Jamie Greenwood. Greenwood was (obviously) playing Minecraft when the incident occured. Greenwood received a message from an anonymous player telling her to look outside her apartment. What Greenwood saw was armed police officers lined up outside her apartment. Thankfully nobody was hurt and investigation are being conducted to find the perpetrator. Come on people, seriously? Whatever happened to resorting to "yo mamma" jokes or just coming to the realization that it's a fucking game and not someone trying to cut what little testicles you have off.

So Red Hook Public Library in Broadway (New York I'm assuming because it didn't list the state) officially has an after-school Minecraft club. It's awesome that the education system is embracing the educational applications of Minecraft and I hope other schools and libraries adopt a similar practice. If only my previous schools had this I'd actually look forward to school (I tried making a Minecraft club in my senior year of high school but what came out of it was a general video game club, which wasn't bad at all :P).

Moving on, Minecraft modder named Durzo has recently finished a gargantuan undertaking in creating a texture pack consisting of 418 individual textures as part of his one-texture-a-day challenge. After 418 days, the texture pack is available for release under the name DurzoCraft. You should definitely check it out.

For this week's MegaCraft, Matt, Adam, and Joel check out an accurate (ish) rendition of the famous Battle of Hoth scene from Star Wars Episode V: Empire Strikes Back by Hypixel. Admittedly, this build does have some inconsistencies-as pointed out blatantly by Adam and Joel, but is still very cool (no pun intended) nonetheless.

Last, for this week's Minecraft Let's Play, the Achievement Hunters finish construction of the new house in part three of Finish This House. Watch as they finally figure out a solution to that pesky wall, decorate the Pleasure Room, and spruce up the aesthetics. Even though it was a little heartbreaking to see a new house constructed over Ray's old house, I hope whoever takes residency in the newly-built house will enjoy all the luxuries it has to offer. Or Ray could have just gotten lazy and quit, knowing that the gang would build something better in place of his dirt hut, and come back and say something like "Thanks for fixing up my house.":P

That's it for this week! See you all next Sunday!!! smiley0.gif

      All Things Minecraft

Sorry for not posting last week. I've had a lot of shit to deal with this week so I wasn't able to get a chance. Now that I'm back on schedule, we can commence at once.

First, last gen editions of Minecraft are getting new(ish) achievements for the Xbox 360 versions. The new achievements are those found in the newer editions in the Xbox One and PS4. It's 600 gamerscore, so get hunting!

Minecrafter SethBling has created a functional camera that accounts for perspective. It's pretty neat, check it out here:

So it has finally come to fruition that Microsoft purchased Minecraft mainly for its applications for HoloLens. If you remember in one of my old journals, I kind of predicted this was why Microsoft hastily bought Minecraft from Notch. Thankfully Microsoft has done anything to bastardize the franchise, but with this reality, I'm gaining confidence that Microsoft could push Minecraft further than Notch ever could. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the best!

To those that grew up playing Pokemon, remember in Crystal where the player could select their gender. That move made Pokemon appeal more to female audiences. Now Minecraft is appealing to its female fanbase by adding a new default character of the female gender-Alex. Say hello everyone!

So I'm going to quickly recap this and last week's MegaCraft. Last week Matt and Jack take a look at a replica of Jack's house scaled up 16 times (not including Jack's avatar and his ginormous shlong). This week, Matt and Jack are back looking at Avenger's City. Both builds are awesome, check them out if you haven't already.

Last week's Minecraft Let's Play features the guys doing some reconstruction to Ray's old home. This week, the boys are back at it for part 2. It made me feel kind of sad seeing that thing go, I feel like it should have been converted into a memorial. Then again, I like seeing Let's Plays of them actually building something as a team. Now I wonder who is going to move in? Maybe we will find out in part 3. Stay tuned.
