Alright, okay, fine. I'll admit it: the ball was seriously dropped with this group.

But I think it's safe to say that life has a tendency to get in the way of things. After all, "the best laid plans of mice often go awry."

So to try and jump-start the group (and change the mood of viewing), our next film will be From Here to Eternity, a romance set in beautiful Hawaii (when in actuality, it was filmed in Kauai I've sunbathed on the sand and frollicked in the surf on the beach where that iconic scene was shot )

Take your time with this one; there is no need to rush, especially with Memorial Day weekend fast approaching.

      Shlove you!

I have to be honest and say I completely dropped the ball on our first movie-watching event. By the time Sunday rolled around, I had forgotten to pick up the movie. A friend came through (the King of Youtube) and found a working link to watch the movie there!

If anybody still needs to watch the movie, I present to you Midnight Cowboy.

You lovely members will also find that a new thread has been created in the Forum; please feel free to share your thoughts and feelings about the movie there! I hope you all enjoyed it!

      Midnight Cowboy smiley11.gif

Midnight Cowboy will be our first film! We are shooting for Sunday, May 8 to be our first movie-watching event! Hopefully everyone will have plenty of time to pick up a copy of the movie by Sunday (or find it online).

For everyone who would like to gather in Skype or Teamspeak to watch the movie "together," we will begin watching the film at 5 pm PST (8 o'clock for you East Coasters). If, for some reason, you can't make this epic gathering of movie watching epicness, don't be sad: you can feel free to share your thoughts and ideas in the forum! Details for the execution of the group watching-ness will be hammered out later this week.

      Stay tuned!

Kudos to all of you who have added your list of seen movies to the forum! I am currently compiling a master list based on the information from them, and will update with news when it's complete. Until then, we need your help once again!

SpitFireJay posted a poll in Monday's news update asking which day of the week would be best to watch these amazing films. Three days have come up as possible contenders. We need a tie breaker! Please choose which of these three days would work best for you!

Have you added your list of seen movies to the forum? If you have then you are to be commended. If not you will be flogged! Just kidding, but seriously - post it up as soon as you can so that we, your fearless Admin's, can determine what movie to start with. Once we have that down there will be a post in the forum area with the title of the movie so that we can get a feel for what we are going to watch and then discuss it afterwards.

That being said, we (Phoenix, Suto_Griff, and I) have been talking about the best way to get everyone together to watch the movies. The easiest way (in my humble opinion) would be to get to a gauge on how many of our members have Xbox Live and use Netflix and then do a group movie using those means. For the times when Netflix does not cut it, we might have to use something like tinychat, teamspeak, skype, or all the above. Thoughts?

Finally - we need to devise a night that will work best for viewing. Thus the poll. Please please please select the night that works best for you. We know that not everyone will be able to stick to one set night every time, but we will strive to make movie night a night that most of us can attend and enjoy one of the centennial cinema's finest.

      Hey everybody!
It's really exciting how many people have joined the group!

The next step is for everyone to post a copy of their personal movie list. Hop on over to the Forum thread called The List: SpitFireJay has provided us with the AFI list of movies. Strike out the movies you have already seen, but underline those that you would like to see again. When everyone (or a large amount of you lovely people) has posted their list, we'll consolidate all of them into one big, gigantonormic list of awesome!

Let's get this show on the road! smiley0.gif

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the greatest show on earth: 100 years of the best movies ever made. Many of these movies are available through Netflix (especially the more popular ones on the list). Some of these will be difficult to get a hold of, but we'll take those instances as they come upon us. This is going to be fun!
