Metallica plans for their 2011 "short tour" to rival Pink Floyd's "The Wall."

      From www.nme.com
Metallica are planning a tour in 2011 which their manager claims will rival Pink Floyd's 1980-1981 'The Wall' tour, it has been revealed.

Manager Peter Mensch revealed that the band are currently working on ideas for the tour, which will see then play in 10 cities worldwide. No dates have been announced yet.

"Let's just say that next year you will see a Metallica tour that will blow your mind," he told Classic Rock. "They will only play in 10 cities but it will be a huge undertaking. It will be Metallica's equivalent of 'The Wall'."

When asked to define his role as the band's manager, Mensch said it involved, "Saying something like, 'I have this idea for us to play an equivalent of 'The Wall'. So here's some ideas so we can get the professionals in so they can tell me if I'm crazy or not.'"

It will be nice if they came as close to me as St. Louis, but we'll just have to see. As soon as I hear more, I'll post it here.

Best concert I've ever been to. Gojira were really good live. A whole lot of energy. Lamb of God was fantastic. The vocals were dead on and Chris Adler's feet were just as amazing. I was expecting for Randy Blythe to insult and cuss the audience the whole time like Phil from Down did, but he was really cool when he was talking. On to the setlist!

      That Was Just Your Life
      End of the Line
Creeping Death (My favorite of their live songs)
      Holier Than Thou
      One
      Broken, Beat, and Scarred
      Cyanide
      Sad But True
      Turn the Page
      All Nightmare Long
      The Day that Never Comes
      Master of Puppets
      Battery
      Nothing Else Matters
      Enter Sandman

That's their set, and as I was getting ready to hear a song off of Garage, Inc and two from Kill Em All, I was in for a much better surprise. Their sound team came out and set up a separate amp. I figured that they were going to bring someone out. The band comes back out and teases up with a section of "The Shortest Straw" before talking about someone who inspired Metallica, mainly Lars. James said that Lars has "always been a huge Motorhead fan." smiley3.gifsmiley11.gif

      Encore Setlist:
      Damage Case ft. Lemmy
Too Late, Too Late ft. Lemmy
      Seek and Destroy

I found out after I got home at 3 a.m. that Lemmy was there to film for a documentary. I don't know if he's going to be at any other show, but I got to see fucking LEMMY!

      Amazing show.

      More Opening Act News
      7/8/09

In addition to Lamb of God . . .

While we are still enjoying our European summer vacation, a quick note here about the Fall shows in North America. Our French friends Gojira will be joining us, along with Lamb of God, for shows September 14 – October 18, while Lars' brethren from Denmark Volbeat will hanging for the shows October 26 – December 12. One other quick thing – unfortunately Lamb of God cannot continue on with us in December, so we'll have more news about those shows for you later.

Still no news about what band will open for them after November, though.

    • World Magnetic Tour Updates

As most of you have known for months now, Metallica decided to come back home for another leg of their current World Magnetic Tour which kicks off in Nashville on September 14th (I'll be on the 4th row). People, like myself, have bought tickets, made plans, and are excited as hell for their date to come, but some have been wondering exactly who will be opening for this legendary band. Names have been thrown around such as Alice in Chains and Avenge Sevenfold, but they finally made the announcement this past Saturday (would have posted earlier, but I wasn't an Admin then).

Lamb of God will be opening for Metallica all dates between September through November. If you're a fan of this band (as I am) then it's just another reason to be excited. Sure, I would have loved to see The Sword again (saw Metallica in St. Louis back in November), but I really didn't care to go through the verbal beating that Phil from Down gave out and since I haven't seen LoG, it makes me just that more excited to see them.

As for post-November, a band that was mentioned was Mastodon. They have been supporting Metallica overseas and are expected to play support after Lamb of God. Machinehead is still an option, though.

Hey guys, you've all been great and have helped move this group along, but I'm hoping you could help me with something.
In order to win tickets to the next Metallica concert, I need to decipher the three songs in this mashup. I can tell the first one is Cyanide, but I can't tell what the other two are.
      Can you help me?

In the January issue of Game Informer, I saw some new info about GH:M.

First, it will use World Tour's engine, which means one thing: I CAN PLAY AS LARS!!!!!!!!!!

They have also announced some Metalli-Extras unique to Guitar Hero: Metallica:

Expert Plus: New Drum difficulty which will allow you to play Lars Ulrich's parts as they appear on the record. It's a special difficulty for people with a splitter and two bass pedals, so you can hit every single double kick on the songs. Not compatible with World Tour online Leaderboards.

DVD Style Content: Photos, set lists, fan club videos, rare live and behind the scenes footage

New tones: GHTunes is in the game and it offers up exclusive tones from James Hetfields ESP Truckster guitar and Slayers Tom Araya's ESP Bass.

Drum Fill Mode: New cheat that lets you turn off the drum track and play freestyle drums on songs using Metallica drum sounds.

Metallifacts: Watch performances of each track overlaid with Pop-Up Video style windows that points out trivia.

Also, they have released a partial setlist.
