      RvBOR

Last week, our own @BaghdadBean made a guest appearance on the Glibshark podcast. Among the topics discussed: Crowd control at Pax Prime 2013, mathematics of alcohol, the virtues of Voodoo Donut, and (of course) this year's upcoming RvBOR. If you like, have a listen to the discussion here.

Tonight, @karlibean and I will be making an appearance of our own to discuss this year's festivities. The show starts at 6 PM Pacific/9 PM Eastern. Call in to the show at 215-486-2125 or catch us in the UStream on the Glibshark website.

Reminder: If you haven't purchased your tickets yet, why not now? Online ticket purchases close 1 week from now. While you can still pay for entry at the door, you will not be eligible for tournament play or door prizes if you choose to go this route.

11 days to go. We're looking forward to seeing you all soon.

      Hey there Ladies and Gents!

RvB OR is fast approaching. As of today, it is just over 2 weeks away. Here is some updated information for you:

smiley9.gif The online ticketing window closes October 15th. Some of you have showed interest in attending, but haven't purchased tickets yet. We highly encourage you to purchase them ahead of time because it will grant you entry to the tournaments and the raffles. It also gives us a better headcount for purchasing food/drink. It will also help us ensure we have enough tabletop gaming supplies on hand for Saturday.

If you can't purchase tickets prior to the 15th, you can still attend (and we'd still love to see you!), but you will have to pay for your own food and drink at Mississippi Pizza and will not be granted entry into the tournaments and raffles.

smiley9.gif We've been spreading the word about RvB OR via the podcast airwaves of GlibShark. @BaghdadBean was a guest on October 1st. The audio from her appearance is available here. @Karlibean and @RagingTerror will be making an appearance on October 8th. If you want to hear more about what we have planned or ask some questions feel free to call into the live session starting at 6pm Pacific Time/9pm Eastern (Click on the listen to the show live link).

smiley9.gif There is also the topic of the menu for Mississippi Pizza. We need your votes! Please use the poll below to choose the meat option you like the best and (due to site dysfunctionality) leave your top Veggie and Chicken Choices in comment form. The top 2 choices for the Meat category and top choice for Veggie and Chicken will be what we order (unless other feedback is provided).

      Pepperoni—Exactly what you would expect
Maggie May—Salami, bacon, mushroom, fresh tomato
      Heart Stopper—Pepperoni, sausage, Canadian Bacon

It's that time of year that we've begun to think about dates for RvB: OR 2013! But we need your input what day the main event should be.

This year's event will include the musical stylings of the community's own...

      Jeff Rupert!

We also hope to sample some of Portland's food scene, outdoor offerings and so much more.

      Will we see you there?

So I don't know how many of you took the time to watch the PAX Prime panel that Burnie linked in his latest journal. I personally didn't until a friend of mine, Raddlez, told me in TeamSpeak that Gus had started listing fan events for Rooster Teeth, and we were the first fan event mentioned by Gus, then later listed by Burnie. I don't know about you guys, but I feel pretty damn proud of that. We must have made a name for ourselves if we were the first event to come to mind when Gus thought of the Northwest(no offense, CanWest smiley12.gif )

If you haven't already, you should give the video a watch. It really is interesting, especially the Q&A. And hey, if you were there, feel free to share your PAX Prime stories with us! Especially those of us who couldn't make it. Myself included.

As well, for anyone who didn't attend, or just wants to read a bunch of text, I spent last week publishing daily journal recaps of RvBOR. They can be found as follows:

      -RvBOR - Day 0[Thursday]
      -RvBOR - Day 1[Friday]
      -RvBOR - Day 2[Saturday]
      -RvBOR - Day 2.5[Saturday Night]
      -RvBOR - Day 3[Sunday]

Hope everyone enjoyed RvBOR 2011. Can't wait to see you all again in 2012!

And so the first year of RvBOR has come to a close. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and make this a awesome first year!

I look forward to seeing everyone again and coming up with an even better event next year. And everyone can help make that happen. I've set up a thread in the forum to for just that. Let us know what you liked, what you didn't like, what you'd like to see.

      RvBOR

The first event at Godfather's was a ton of fun! Thank you to everyone who was able to make it. I hope those were were stuck due to traffic, transportation or other unforeseeable obstacles were at least able to make it into town alright.

There were a few concerns expressed about the difficulty of finding the main event. It is a little remote, but quite easy to get to. If you're taking the bus, trimet.org has great mapping on their website.
Your best bet is to catch the #77 to Troutdale and get off at 2100 Block SW Halsey (Edgefield Manor). That's right in front of the property.

      If you're driving:
      Get to I-84 E
Drive 6.9 miles east of I-205
Take exit 16 fpr 238th dr toward Wood Village.
Turn Right on NE 238th Dr
Turn Left onto NE Halsey St
Turn Right when you see the Edgefield sign

This is what you will see upon approach:
      group1f539471127c904e22309f6fa599e98f4e4

And this will help in finding the theater among the crazy amounts of buildings they have:

There are sign posts all over in case you get lost.

If you get lost or need help, don't hesitate to get in touch with me at 503-891-7888 or at sandpuppeteer@gmail.com.

And to make sure it stays on the front page, our remaining events are as follows:
      --Saturday, August 20th--
      Edgefield, starting at 8:00am-4:30pm
2126 SW Halsey St, Troutdale OR.
Food, RvB marathon, and all that jazz. The theater is absolutely gorgeous! We're planning a special event for after wards, so stay tuned!

      Chang's Mongolian Grill 6:00pm
2502 E Powell Blvd, Troutdale OR
We will head here after Edgefield shenanigans.

      RvBOR

We are just a little over one day from the kickoff of our fantastic event! A lot of work has been done over the past several months to make sure you, the attendees, have a great time at our first RvBOR. I personally just checked into my hotel and will be picking up two other attendees from the airport in a little over a half an hour. My excitement level is overflowing!

Couple of things before we kick off the event:

-The Facebook event, visible here, does not currently reflect on the actual times of the event. Our first official event starts at 7:00 PM at Godfather's Pizza, per the schedule that will be reposted below.

-Official schedule of events is as follows:

      --Friday, August 19th--
      Godfather's Pizza, 7:00pm.
2503 SW Cherry Park Rd, Troutdale OR.
We gather here for pizza, pinball and just a general bit of fun before we invade the theater.

      --Saturday, August 20th--
      Edgefield, starting at 8:00am-4:30pm
2126 SW Halsey St, Troutdale OR.
Food, RvB marathon, and all that jazz. The theater is absolutely gorgeous! We're planning a special event for after wards, so stay tuned!

      Chang's Mongolian Grill 6:00pm
2502 E Powell Blvd, Troutdale OR
We will head here after Edgefield shenanigans.

      --Sunday, August 21st--
      Elmer's Restaurant, 11:00am
1590 NE Burnside Rd, Troutdale OR.
      Sail Away Sunday Brunch

-I will refer you all back to this news entry for some key things to keep in mind. Obviously some of these no longer apply, but it is still a good source of information for any and all to have.

-Keep your eyes peeled and ears open for SideQuest information, visible in the Group Forums and by word of mouth.

-Last thing. I'd like to take this chance to thank BaghdadBean and antisparkle for their tireless work on making this event a possibility. I know I haven't been as useful as I should have been lately, and I can only blame myself for this. I truly do apologize for not stepping it up a bit more with helping to plan this event. I am so grateful and blessed to have worked alongside you both these past several months in creating what will be my, and potentially many others', first RT-related event. Without you both, we all wouldn't be gearing up for an awesome, fun-packed weekend. So thank you so much, ladies. smiley12.gif

I cannot wait to see you all tomorrow. Bring on RvBOR 2011!

    • Just a few more days!

      RvBOR

Less than a week until we all converge upon Troutdale!

I'm preparing the badges in advance, so please tell me if for some reason, you want something other than your RT screen name. If you decide you don't want it at the last minute, we will have blank badges on hand to fill in. But they won't be nearly as cool as the pre-printed ones!

Don't forget, we have more than just main event! Other gatherings and the like are as follows:

      --Friday, August 19th--
      Godfather's Pizza, 7:00pm.
2503 SW Cherry Park Rd, Troutdale OR.
We gather here for pizza, pinball and just a general bit of fun before we invade the theater.

      --Saturday, August 20th--
      Edgefield, starting at 8:00am-4:00pm
2126 SW Halsey St, Troutdale OR.
Food, RvB marathon, and all that jazz. The theater is absolutely gorgeous! We're planning a special event for after wards, so stay tuned!

      Chang's Mongolian Grill 5:00pm?
2502 E Powell Blvd, Troutdale OR
We will head here after Edgefield.

      --Sunday, August 21st--
      Elmer's Restaurant, 11:00?
1590 NE Burnside Rd, Troutdale OR.
A farewell brunch before we all go our separate ways.

We're working on the final pieces to make this an exceptional event! Can't wait to see you guys there!

    • 10 Days And Counting!

      RvBOR

So we're a mere 10 days away from our first RvBOR event, and I can't even begin to express my excitement. I've been looking forward to this for months. To have it so close with so many people coming is just mind-blowing. Before we get too far, I want to mention a couple of things.

-There are still three tickets remaining. If you know someone that wants to come, tell them! Tickets can be purchased here!

-Several members are hoping to set up a range of SideQuest events for RvBOR. I'd love nothing more than to see attendees participating in these events, so I'll link to the ones that currently have visible topics:

      --Paintball

...So I guess that was the only one, but I know other interest was expressed. Therefore, I've made this topic to assist you all in meeting with each other.

-On Friday(8/12) I will be making a last call of sorts, which will include some final important things to keep in mind prior to the event. Keep your eyes peeled for it!

That should be all for now. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend, and I cannot wait to meet you all in just ten days!!!

    • More Tickets, You Say?

      RvBOR

That's right! There are a small number of tickets remaining that we can open to you guys!

There are exactly 4 tickets left. These tickets aren't like the others, though. These tickets do not have the option of being a deluxe package(we can no longer order T-shirts) and the buyer does not receive a choice on their menu item. That being said, the ticket is still $15.

So if you know anyone interested in coming, I advise you take the opportunity now while it's here!

      counter-8461.jpg

Probably should've included a link for purchases originally. Sorry! Don't bother making orders for T-shirts or deluxe packages, they won't process.
