Nidhogg 2 has been announced with a new teaser trailer and set for release sometime in 2017 for PC and "maybe some other platforms."

So far, it looks like the new game will contain at least 10 levels, local and online multiplayer, and both single player and tournament modes. The single player mode will challenge players to take on waves of opponents and complete special challenges.

The sequel will also feature overhauled character animations and environments, and a new sound track featuring Mux Mool, Dose One, and Daedelus.

Response from fans to the new teaser has been mixed so far, with some complaining of the new art style, though others are feeling optimistic.

I respect the choices of the devs regarding the art direction of Nidhogg 2 but also exercise my right to say I hate it.
