I finally read it.

I know, right?

While this wasn't my cup of tea I still found it to be a semi-enjoyable read.

Now, I close the book understanding why it's considered one of the must-read classics; all the parts between Darcy and Elizabeth are still electric and captivating even centuries after they were penned (that bitch, Jane Austen, died 200 years ago). I just can't say the same for the rest of the novel, particularly involving the chapters in which Lydia runs off with Wickham; those were incredibly painful for me to slog through.

Would I recommend it? Only as a demonstration of good breeding.
Would I maybe prefer to watch the film adaptation that trims out most of the tedium with only slight sacrifices to character development? Definitely, as my tastes are horrifyingly ill bred.

...now, we may remain silent.
