I can't believe it. Today is my one year anniversary at RT. This place, these people, have had such a huge impact on my life since I signed up on the site in 2005. There are a ton of memories here and I hope to remember them forever.
There's been a lot that's happened in the last year. Getting the job itself, learning the ins and outs of the company, being asking to co-host RWBYRW with Chad and Ellie, figuring out ways to strengthen the relationships between RT and community, building up internal/external relationships... I learned a lot about myself as a person and as a CM. I'm still crafting my skills and learning about the people who make up this community. There are many moving pieces, and sometimes, it can get a bit overwhelming, but I've always had the support of veteran members here, my team, and my friends. People ask me all the time how I help manage a community this size, and I'm happy to say that I'm never alone in my day to day. I receive guidance, insight, and I'm able to find reasons to smile and laugh. Every day.
In one year, I feel like I've both done much and not enough. The latter is me continuing to learn about myself, my goals, and what I want to accomplish. To no surprise, my goals are always community-focused. How can I help out the community more? How differently do I approach working with an individual, a group, or the community as a whole? How can I make it healthier or more fun? There are tons of little battles to pick and choose from, and each has their own unique hurdles and rewards. When I reflect back on my first year, I am comfortable in saying that I've done my best and the community is becoming stronger.
I feel very fortunate to have a solid team in Chelsea and Cricket, and being able to work with so many different departments here, to have a voice, and be heard, is quite amazing. I know there is still a lot to be done, and I look forward to another year working with so many awesome people both at the company and in the community. Thank you for making this first year very special.
