    • Well...

      10bane01

I have been rather inactive here over quite awhile. As each day goes on, it happens a little more. For this, I am writing to say that I will be pretty much leaving RvB for awhile. I may check in every once in awhile, but I shall still remain pretty much inactive.

"It's been a good run," like Grif said and I've met some pretty amazing/crazy people. I may be back, but I do not know when this will be. Hell, this may just be a phase and I'll be back tomorrow, but don't hold your breath. Until the time I come back, I bid you farewell and I LOVE YOU guys. I WILL BE WAITING for a day that I will return, no matter how long that may be. One month, five years, ten years, who knows. It was a pleasure meeting everyone and YOU WILL BE MISSED and you shall remain on my friend list for when I return. Goodbye for now, my friends. Hope to see you soon.

Feel free to still leave me a message as I will probably check in once a week. If not, I will get to you whenever.

Edit: Well, while I am online right now, I suppose I will edit this post to add a little something. Nothing big, but just a quick addition. Something small that I've written. The quality is low, but I rushed to do it. Anyway, enjoy.

      365 Days
      When we were together,
I made a promise to you.
To give you a story every night,
and I plan to stay true.

      While it isn't much,
      and isn't a big deal.
I'd still rather know I was true,
and that what I said was real.

This story will help you remember a time.
A day that we were together and everything was fine.
It's intended to stick to a promise that was made,
so that my word and credibility do not degrade.

For when you are missing the story I created,
even when, at times, I thought it was overrated.
I want you to read back through this,
so that it may help you reminisce.

So this, my dear, is dedicated to you,
To read 365 days to get you through.
      When the year finally ends,
I know you can read this over again.
Then my new year will begin,
knowing that I'll never break my promise again.
As long as you continue to read this...

      10bane01

Well, now that my adventure in the Wastelands have ended (Platinum trophy earned, might I add), I have moved on to a very different setting. Instead of being in the Washington DC area, I am now travelling the United States, taking down Chimera while I'm at it. Yes. You've guessed it. I am now playing Resistance 2.

Such a great game. Hell, I even get in to the multiplayer quite a bit, even though I normally can't stand any multiplayer that doesn't involve friends at my house, on the same console. I say this mainly about Co-op mode. I love it. I haven't really tried the Competitve mode yet, but I shall do that soon enough.

The single player is awesome as well. I am really enjoying myself, just as much as I did in the first game, and maybe more. Despite me not usually liking FPSs as well, this is quite a surprise. I guess not really. I do play the Half Life series as well as few select other FPSs. The Resistance series is easily gaining height on my list of beloved series. Sure, it will NEVER reach the top, but it could probably get pretty close.

Other than that, classes are about to start and I'm pissed. It will be a very tough semester. Lets hope I make it through. Wish me luck everyone who cares. :-P

Well, enough of my random rambling. I'm done.

Is very dangerous... Always have to have a good amount of ammo and health items while wandering around, finding new places. Super Mutants, giant Radscorpions, Super Mutant Behemoth's every once in awhile (2 down, woohoo!). Definitely not a safe place. I can't wait to find new places though and explore them. Especially now with my powerful weapons. Too bad there isn't much ammo for them (Fat Man, mainly).

    • Fallout 3!!!!

      10bane01

Well, I've technically been owning the game since the day it came out...but since it was a gift to me, I could not play it until just recently. Thankfully, I DID have to wait though, because many people who have had the game since release are pretty pissed due to a recent trophy patch for the PS3 and have to replay the game to get the trophies. I don't have to put up with all that bullshit. :-D Anyway, needless to say (and not very surprisingly), I am addicted. I just hope I can finish it up before classes start again...or grades...yeah...grades may be lacking.

Anyway. Fantastic game. Loving every minute of it.

    • Lingers In Shadows/Mega Man 9 (Protoman)

      10bane01

So I purchased this "game" on the PSN called Lingers In Shadows. It is pretty much a 7 minute interactive, artistic movie. Personally, I got a lot of enjoyment out of it (plus it has 16 easy to get trophies), but I don't think I could really recommend it to anyone. I believe that depending on the person, it's a hit or miss. Either way, it is only $3 and definitely worth it for me.

Next on the agenda, I have purchased Protoman for Mega Man 9. Just when you thought Mega Man 9 couldn't get any harder, try playing as Protoman. He takes about double the damage, or more, than Mega Man. It does give it a significant difficulty boost, but I love it! Each time you start a stage and teleport in, you hear the nice Protoman tune. So great. So I will be busy with that today, instead of writing a program for my computer science class...

Wow. That game was pretty tough. I have to say that overall, I was very impressed and can't wait to start it from scratch again. There are a ton of "Challenges" that you can tackle, and many of those are very hard to do. I'll see what I can do. I'm assuming not much. Either way, Wily can use another ass whipping.

    • Mega Man 9

      10bane01

So I decided to purchase Mega Man 9 today on the Playstation Network. When it was first announced, I was so excited, due to it being done in the same exact fashion as the first 6 games in the original series. I loved the 8-bit Mega Man games and couln't wait to have another one. Sure, there are many complaints about it being a "Mega Man 2 hack," that it adds nothing to the series, that it is a step back and that it's nothing more than a clone. Whichever you choose, many Mega Man fanatics, much like myself, were ecstatic.

Upon release, they also decided to release a demo with a single level to give it a try. I played through the demo at least 5 times, because I really enjoyed having more Mega Man to play. It threw me right back into the NES days and I loved it. Sadly, once you get inside the boss door, it kicks you out of the demo.

With that said, I purchased it today. I must say, I love it so very much. It is just as fun as the rest of the games in the series and truly feels like one of the classics. Mega Man fans should really love this one. I can't speak for those who are not Mega Man fans, because I really don't know what they would think of it as a stand alone game. If you are a Mega Man fan, you owe it to yourself to purchase this great game. Everything is there. The difficulty, the cheap tricks, the familiar enemies, NEW enemies, interesting boss battles, tough stage design and our favorite blue bomber, back in 8-bit. Just how it needs to be.

    • Lowering the Legal Drinking Age

      10bane01

So I've heard some talk in the news about lowering the legal drinking age to 18, either for economical benefits or the "once you can do something legally, it will wear down" principle.

Being 20, you would generally expect my stand on it to be for it. That simply is not the case. I think it is a rather idiotic idea, to say the least. First of all, to think that it would wear down if people are legally allowed to do it is just showing the idiocy of the nation. That would not be the case. It would probably lead to exactly would be expected; younger people getting drunk more frequently. While it doesn't matter if it is legal or not, it is still being done, but imagine how much more would be done if it were to be legal. More younger and less experienced people drinking (and probably driving) increases the chances of the innocent being killed by a drunk driver. That is a very sad thought to think that, if this passes, I may be at even more risk when driving than I already am with current drunk drivers.

Secondly, at least one with more thought (that to be taken very lightly) behind it, is the economical standpoint. Sure. If younger people can buy alcohol, it boosts the economy due to alcohol sales, right? Yes. I agree that does make sense. The thing that they have not taken into consideration is that it could also hurt the economy. This is where the "to be taken very lightly" will take effect. Think about it. More people in their educational years will be drinking more often, due to it being legal to do so. Their grades will tend to slack off because of the effects, eventually causing cost bigger than what is gained from the boost from alcohol sales. The drop out rate would probably escalate, putting more people in poverty because they can't even get a decent job to support their families. At the current rate of teen pregnancy, that would be a significant loss for the economy. Do we really want to increase alcoholism just for the benefits of politicians getting paid? Think about this people.

Sure, these are my opinions and they are debatable. That is what the comments section is for. While I MAY be the only person under the age of 21 that is completely against lowering the legal drinking age, I don't believe that I am and I stand strongly behind my argument. Feel free to post yours.

I love the Alien Blaster. I'm sort of sad that I haven't run into the unique version of it yet though. Damn random encounters. D:

Nice job on the Behemoths and bobbleheads, though! I don't think I even got all of those out of the way that quickly, haha.

    • Niksilp

Haha. I don't need anything either, but I still do the same things you do: pick up everything worth selling and sell it, or I go and trade it for stimpaks. Though, with over 8,000 caps and 200+ stimpaks, I really don't need to. >.> My biggest moneymaker is selling ammo for weapons I don't use. Electron Charge Packs, 5mm rounds, Energy Cells, Darts, Railway Spikes, Flamer fuel, Missiles... they all go for quite a bit in bulk.

    • Niksilp

I personally use Tesla Armor. It's my favorite, and provides some of the best damage resistance, though it doesn't provide +1 Strength like most others do. But since I love energy weapons, I prefer the energy weapons bonus anyway.

Sucks that the Outcasts are against you, though. They're a nice source of stimpaks and other items if you trade weapons and power armor to them at Fort Independence. Of course, if you're in need of money, it's still better to sell the extra sets of power armor and energy weapons you pick up, rather than trade for some stimpaks or something.

    • Niksilp

That sucks. I remember having a bunch of Power Armor sitting around during my first game and being sad because I couldn't wear it yet. And you're better off not wearing the T-51b. It's technically "glitched" because no other power armor can be used to repair it (though it can be used to repair other power armors). So, you have to rely on merchants to repair it, which becomes expensive and will never allow it to be at 100% condition again.

If you were on the 360, I'd say not to worry, since we're supposed to be getting more T-51b suits with Operation Anchorage, but you're not, so that doesn't really help you. :(

    • Niksilp

Hah. That's okay. I did all of the side quests first too, although I did do enough of the main story to receive Power Armor training (I smiley12.gif Power Armor) before finishing all of the side quests.

I'm sort of lacking on mini nukes my current playthrough, though it's only been a problem once, when I was at Evergreen Mills and needed to kill the Behemoth before telling Charon to stop waiting (followers will apparently let the Behemoth out if you don't kill it first :S). I only had one mini-nuke, so I had to finish it off with the Lincoln Repeater... ugh. Scary stuff.

I always forget that the DLC is 360-only... PS3 owners are going to miss out, 'cause yeah, the DLC sound like a lot of fun (and I personally can't wait for them).

Yeah, I love being able to choose what stats you want to increase. I mean, there are some times when I'm lockpicking and hacking where I think, "I wish these stats increased as I use them," but overall, Fallout 3's skill system is better.

I remember in Oblivion... I'd hotkey my unlock magic spells and sit next to a chest, using them over and over and over again until I got my Alteration high enough so I could use the next spell up, haha.

    • Niksilp

Fallout 3's leveling is better than Oblivion's in that you're character won't start getting raped by high level monsters if you didn't go for a combat sort of class (my experience with Oblivion--I got to level 26 with a stealthy, bow using character and was getting raped at every turn. My high sneak level was the only thing that saved my ass most of the time.). The low level cap is definitely unfortunate, though, but I'm glad they're going to raise it with the DLC due out in March (Broken Steel).

    • Niksilp

I love that about the bobbleheads too. I haven't collected too many so far in my current game, though. I need to get on that, seeing as I'm almost at level twenty again, haha..

    • Niksilp

Well, you only need ten more. Shouldn't be too hard; it's really just a rather tedious quest, as opposed to difficult.

    • Niksilp

Mm. The Alien Blaster is amazing (too bad there's so little ammo for it smiley2.gif ). I'm collecting all of the unique weapons this game... my favorites so far have been Ol' Painless and the Terrible Shotgun. And yeah, that damn Quantum. There are over ninety bottles in the game (excluding the 10% chance of one spawning in Nuka-Cola machines and the random Wastelanders who will sell you a bottle), so hopefully you haven't sold/drank sixty of them.

    • Niksilp

Most of the other stuff is pretty good. I haven't listened to it all enough yet to tell you exactly which songs, but it's rather unfortunate that you can only get a hold of about 35 of their over one hundred (original) songs.

    • Niksilp

This time around, I've been focusing on Speech, Small Guns, Science and Energy Weapons, but my Lockpicking, Medicine and Repair are fairly high too. I haven't put any points into anything else (except with skill books and bobbleheads, of course).

Did you pick the Educated perk? That one is nice to have. Extremely nice, actually. :D I really want to make a stealthy character so I can get the Mister Sandman perk, though. Perhaps next play through... lol.

    • Niksilp

The Fat Man is loads of fun. :D I need to load up my other game and get the Experimental MIRV (Fat Man that fires eight nukes at once).

I buy stimpaks every chance I have, lol. So I have, suffice to say, a lot. At least 130, last I checked. It also helps that I have a follower right now, so I use a lot less.

I'm not sure if I asked you this yet or not, but what skills are you focusing on?

    • Niksilp

Super Mutant Behemoths are frightening. Thankfully there are only five of them in the game. Did you use the Fat Man to kill it? So much fun. :D

    • Niksilp

Mm. Amazing gun. Especially nice to have so early on (even if your Energy Weapons skill isn't fully developed), but it's unfortunate that ammo is so scarce for it until you've advanced the main plot a little farther.

    • Niksilp

Haha, it happens. What weapon did you get?

    • Niksilp

Wasteland Survival Guide is definitely the longest quest in the game, but it's very rewarding. And once you hit about level nine or ten, Super Mutants should start being a little easier to kill.

Just remember that the main story isn't very long, and it's easy to complete it without knowing you're at the end (very bad, since you can't continue playing after completing the story, unless you load a previous save).

    • Niksilp

I'm on my second play through now (was good my first time through, but I'm evil this time). I also nearly have every achievement (oops? lol XD) and can't wait for the DLC to come out in January (and then February... and then March :D)...
